I liked how it played videos. I disliked how it is MARCH, and the player from Christmas broke and does not open or close the tray anymore. It lasted 3 months with light use. Great. Thats just Great. How about some Q.C. and no plastic gears ? Is Aluminum gears too expensive to stamp out ? The plastic gears just grind and the motor makes a sickly whrrr whrrr noise.

Wow!! I am truly gob smocked!! The upscaling delivers well and seems to enhance most, if not all, discs Ive thrown at it so far. I am resolving details in the backgrounds of movies Id never noticed before, even among those films I have known very well. That was surprising! Even those discs that tend to be lackluster studio dubs appear somewhat enhanced and more watchable. This includes vintage TV series DVDs not known for their great integrity. There are several discs I have bought over the years that just wont play on my other Panasonic DVD/Blu Ray player. Not an issue here! And, so seamlessly automatic! For good measure. I tried some family camcorder videos put on DVD-R discs and those were slightly improved in image quality. The few PAL format movie DVDs I have are automatically read and played. I cant speak yet about how other format Blu Ray discs perform because I dont have any quite yet. However, if its anything like how it handles DVDs from different regions, it should perform as well if not better. Some reviewers express disappointment there is no screen that features traditional digital readouts. Yes, that is correct. One is operating somewhat in the dark there. I did ponder that shortcoming prior to purchase but bought this one anyway because I liked its advertised versatility and price point. Id have to pay more for that feature, I understand. And it arrived quickly with minimal set up. HDMI Cable included. The remote is smaller--what isnt these days except for the size of flat screens? If youre already familiar with a Panasonic device its pretty much the same. In fact, I left our other Panasonic player hooked up and found this remote turns that unit on if you point the remote that direction!! Great laugh. All in all, I am a VERY HAPPY CAMPER over this purchase...Now to order some obscure other regional Blu Ray discs!
