The tips are the work horse, conductivetivity is key.
Lets start with "Capacitive styluses work by distorting the screen’s electrostatic field." this means that there can be outside interference. Ok so as the other reiviews said the tips fall out of the holder provided, but the tips are the only thing that are relitive to the items working. I in full disclosure purchased this item so i could use one of the extra tips in a different holder, which i had to drill out to fit it in. however, just to test, i also drilled out a chopstick and threw one in there guess what wood being non conductive didnt work, however placing the tip in metal hobby tubing does i tried : brass, copper even stainless steel tubing the tips works great. so if the item stopped working after a few days one has to wonder if it came in contact with a magnet or another item that messed with it or if there is interferance with the electromagnetic resonance in the user.. Anyways i now have 2 functional purchased styluses, one modified one slightly bent and 2 very simple metal tube styluses, mostly because I'll loose the tips before i can find them to replace them and they are all working just fine. Heres the trick I would recommend if you like to do a little diy the simple fact is the price I got the set for was one of the best prices I found, more coat effective then just buying the tips. also I don't travel with this item i use it for editing photos, and drawing on my tablet, so they arnt going to come in contact with anything that messes with them like a magnetic closure on a bag. *********I would also recommend as a conductivity experiment with kids ******... i am not sure that i would recommend if you're not a little bit of an experementer, or a dozer as the fraggles say. well i fear i havesaid to much good luck to you
