While the spikes are well-made, putting pads under the base yielded a beautiful effect next to a black television. My audiophile speakers sit on far more expensive stands, but I'm not sure they are better. Monoprice/Monolith is the greatest secret in audio.

Best bang for your buck.
Solid built stands that are well worth the $.
Simple, nice metal stand.
We purchased and are using one to keep our wireless speaker a little higher. The stand shipped quickly, was packed well, and arrived in new condition. We installed the base first, then flipped it over and filled the four pillars with ~40lbs of sand before placing it against the wall. We ended up installing some felt strips on all four corners instead of using the supplied spikes as we did not want to damage our flooring. This height creates a much better sound stage for the speaker/music. The aesthetics are clean and simple. A great value considering the finish, easy-of-assembly, and how easy it was to fill with sand.
