Sony ULT FIELD 1 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker - Black

Well impressed.
I bought this while on holiday to listen to internet radio from my smartphone etc in my hotel room for better audio quality. Sound quality is the usual high quality you would expect from Sony. Good solid well built construction with good battery life. A nice carry strap finishes the wireless speaker off nicely.

Wow!
I've had this speaker for a little while now and wanted to wait before giving a knee-jerk review (which would have been a simple Wow! Just Wow!). I've now managed to use it in a variety of environments, including camping, an outside party and my flat (where it's now replaced my stereo for sound and clarity). Being dust and water resistant, as well as being a decent size for packing and portability, it was a perfect companion on my camping trip where it performed admirably both inside the tent on a lower volume, but could also be heard perfectly at a louder volume some distance from the tent (see photos). It also goes without saying that the 12 hour battery life was perfect for the trip (although would have been easy to recharge via the USB-C port on the back. I prefer to feel the bass as well as hear it so the ULT button was a perfect addition as it activates a deeper bass without losing any clarity of sound. All in all this is now my go to portable speaker - versatile enough to perform well in all environments that I've tried, a great sound and all at an incredible price - Sony, you've pulled it out the hat yet again!

Wow! this is a special speaker.
Wow! this is a special speaker. I have about 5 different smart speakers and this is just about as good as it gets. It may be small, and fits very comfortably in the hand, but it certainly packs a punch. It is very well designed, with a cylindrical shape that has flattened, squared-off sides to prevent it from rolling off surfaces, and feels tough and sturdy enough to be taken on the most adventurous outings. Its pleasing mesh and adjustable cord handles all say “take me with you wherever you are going” You can stand it up on end, lay it down horizontally or hang it from a branch, none of these options seem to get in the way of its solid pleasing sound, and reassuringly it has a serious rubber cap over the USB charging port. Portability is at the forefront of the speaker's design, but never gets in the way of its superior sound quality and bone-shaking levels of audio immersion. It even has its own button on the speaker for its bass boosting function. This essentially works like an amplifier and EQ combined, adding extra energy to the low-end. I’m not sure what ULT stands for but if it’s ultimate then thats OK with me. After a number of hours of testing both indoors and outdoors in my garden at the end of the day, I found the ULT Field 1 sound to be great despite its size and when pressed the ULT button brings an extra layer of oomph to music and audio of many kinds. You really don't need to play it any higher than at about half the volume, especially if ULT is enabled, as the sound will fill a room with ease, and you do have to think about the neighbours after all. Even outdoors, the ULT Field 1 doesn't need to hit its fullest volume potential. Its sound is crisp, punchy, warm, and full of deep bass. Classical, jazz, rock, and even electronic music all performed well. I didn’t test battery life too scientifically but found it more that acceptable for my usage. To sum up, this is a rather special speaker with incredible sound in a lightweight, compact and sturdy form that is obviously built to last. I can easily see the ULT Field 1 becoming my go-to travel companion.

Small but Powerful
The new ULT FIELD1 speaker delivers powerful and impressive bass, making it a great choice for bass enthusiasts. It features an adjustable carry strap, which is quite convenient for transporting the speaker to various locations. Additionally, its IP67 rating ensures it is waterproof and dustproof, ideal for outdoor activities such as camping or poolside parties. The speaker is also shockproof, adding to its durability. The only drawback is its relatively short battery life; a longer battery duration would make it an impeccable speaker.

Outside or inside, this portable speaker is great.
Outside or inside, this portable speaker is just the job. I've used it outside for the patio and caravan settings and also to keep the radio music flowing whilst on my DIY projects. It feels tough enough to keep going in any environment and the sound quality is a great boost to my otherwise humble DAB radio. It has a decent battery life and is easy to charge via the USB cable supplied. The only problem I have had to date is that I can't get it to connect to my Android phone via Bluetooth but that's probably a 'phone/me issue as it pairs easily with other devices. Overall, great sound from a small unit that is easy to transport and has good conectivity

Fun day
Beautiful from the off, it made the first track I played fill the space with deep bass and crisp tweets. It's amazing what sound it gives off for such a compact speaker. Definitely be recommending this one to my friends and family. We had a great day out not long ago on dartmoor with the family, football, frizbee and a nice picnic. The speaker was on nonstop and it still 50% battery left at the end of the day. Can't fault it really. 10 out of 10.

Great bass from a compact speaker!
This is a great small but powerful speaker! The sound is amazing for such a compact size. It is obviously of high quality, it feels good in the hand and seems very well built. I like music to have a full bass sound and with the ULT feature enabled, this speaker delivers just that with a wonderful rich bass. Turn it of and the presence drops, the sound is then much more unobtrusive but still lovely and clear. It is waterproof, dustproof and shock resistant, perfect for taking out and about, especially to my local beach or for music in the garden. The unusual cord carry strap is a good touch, I can hook it over the handlebars of my bike for music on the go, safer than headphones! Battery life is excellent and the microphone works really well for calls made through the speaker. All in all a great little unit.

Great All-Round Portable Speaker, Excellent Sound.
The ULT FIELD 1 speaker is a great all-round speaker considering its size! It connects really easily to your devices via Bluetooth and can be used horizontally or vertically. It's easily portable and the multi way strap means you don't have to touch the speaker itself when you're carrying it. It's ip67 rated meaning it's waterproof, dustproof and shockproof making it ideal for a wide variety of outdoor uses ranging from gardening, barbecues, garden parties and camping, to just hanging out with friends. It's also perfect indoors too and comes in handy in any room in the house. (I've enjoyed using it whilst doing the washing up.) The sound quality is excellent. In normal mode the sound seems a little 'light' but I improved it by using the 3 band equalizer in the Sony Music Centre app installed on my Tablet. It's a different story when you push the ULT button on the speaker though! It really comes to life and I couldn't fault it at all, the bass boost is superb. It's a loud little speaker! The ULT FIELD 1 is a solidly built speaker and has up to a 12 hour battery life depending on volume level and ULT button use. I really like this speaker and highly recommend it!

Sony ULT wireless speaker
I received the ULT 1 the day before going on holiday for a week, I thought brilliant this can be out music source in the lodge . I charged it up to maximum and while on holiday used it most days and I still haven’t charged again since returning , the battery life is very very good, when you pick this speaker up you can feel the weight and the build quality, connecting to your phone was really easy and every time I turned the speaker on it found my phone automatically . The sound from this unit at first was a bit disappointing to tinny for my liking, well that was until I pressed the ULT button, you have to hear this to believe it so bassy and it packs a punch with volume to especially for it’s size. The speaker did have a few knocks but survived unscathed , unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to test the Water proofing . If you are handling the speaker when it’s on beware the speakers at each end they do vibrate especially with lots of bass . I would definitely recommend this to my friends just on this sound alone but when you add the build quality and price in to this is superb value for money .
