Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) - Snow: Wireless Video Camera & Mic

Not working during winter
This is my first year using this outside, last year I used this on the interior front door of an apartment. I'm repeatedly getting an error that the camera is offline because of extreme temperatures - it's winter in Chicago... how was this not engineered to work in the winter?

REGRET - dont waste your time
I’ve had nothing but problems with this doorbell. It constantly malfunctions, doesn’t record, and rarely works—even when it’s fully charged. I live in an apartment, so it’s not even exposed to extreme weather, yet the performance is terrible. I’ve spent nearly a year troubleshooting this thing, and I’m exhausted. It’s unreliable, frustrating, and a complete waste of time and money. I regret this purchase more than any other smart home product I’ve ever bought. Save yourself the headache.

Digital Security Guard!!!
I don't have experience with smart doorbells but this is pretty neat. Instructions are super easy, you get a link to watch a video for step to step instructions. It comes with the whole setup to install on a wall. A metal plate has a 30-degree angle for better view. Mounting wasn't easy for me as I have a brick house that needed to be attached. It took me about 30 minutes to find the right tool to attach the metal plate. Love the clear view it's provided and turned automatically in night mode by itself ( see attached picture). It's doesn't actually ring a bell but sends me and my husband notifications on our phone. I can talk to people at the door and they can talk to me. All the cars and people coming in my driveway. Mind you we have many deers hanging out in our yard especially at night. So far not been a single notification of deers moving in my front yard from our smart doorbell which is pretty neat. It saves the recording and you can watch who came and what package is outside. It's doesn't seem to save more than a day worth of recording unless I am missing something. So far I am happy with the ring.

#1 Video Doorbell!
I wanted a video doorbell to show me in real-time who or what is at the front door. After some research I decided to get a Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) which uses a charging cable for the built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery. This means there is no hassle wiring the doorbell. Along with the Nest Doorbell it comes with a charge cable, base plate, 20” wedge, wedge screws, spacers, release tool, wall screws and anchors, and wire connector. The wire connector is for those who have existing wiring to connect to the existing doorbell chime. In order to use the doorbell you must have a Google Account, Google Home App, WiFi Network, and a mobile device. Of course, it works with Hey Google. It was simple to attach the doorbell outside next to my front door. I receive notifications on my phone, Google Assistant speakers, and displays when someone rings the doorbell or leaves a package. The doorbell has a 2 way speaker and built-in microphone giving me the ability to talk to whomever is at the front door from anywhere with my phone. This doorbell shows video 24/7 with a view where you can see from the ground all the way up to someone’s head. Oh, it has great night vision. I can even go into the video history to watch something I missed. There were a few selling points that impressed me. First, this product uses 45% recycled plastic parts. Second, if someone removes my doorbell illegally Google Nest will replace it for free. Lastly, Google Nest provides exceptional security and privacy for my family. Super Easy to Get Started
I recently received the Nest doorbell (with battery) and upon first opening the box, I was a little surprised, as the doorbell was a bit bigger than I expected. Inside the box, you get everything you need to get started. Installation of the Nest doorbell was VERY easy, and I had no problems connecting it with the Google Home app. So far the video quality has been good, and the microphone seems to work well. You do get 3 hours of free video history, which I do wish was a little longer. I also love the "Familiar Faces" alert, however, if you would like longer recording history, or to use the "Familiar Faces" alert, you would have to sign up for Nest Aware. A few quick notes: they explain on their website that the battery version will not record continuously 24/7. You will need another Nest camera or Nest wired doorbell, along with a Nest Aware Plus to take advantage of that feature. Also, while this doorbell is weather-resistant, the directions mention that is it NOT waterproof, so if it does get damaged, you may lose the weather-resistance. While I have been happy with using the Nest doorbell powered by the battery, I do think we may eventually hardwire it, so we do not have to keep bringing it in to charge it.

Good Image
The install of the doorbell was easy and went pretty quickly. The instructions were easy to follow. I was able to download the app on my phone and it worked the first try. The image quality is actually really good - I was impressed. However, it did stop working within 2 days. I had to go outside and troubleshoot but it is back up and running great!

Awesome video doorbell!
I have wanted a video doorbell for the longest time and I’m so happy with the Nest Doorbell (battery). It is an awesome video doorbell. It was super easy to install and it looks great. The Google home app is also very easy to use. I really love this doorbell! Highly recommend!!!

Great Battery Video Doorbell!
I am impressed with the Nest Doorbell. I got it to use at my back door, where I have packages delivered. The picture quality is fantastic. It is clear and sharp, and it gets an extensive area on the camera. I have a different name-brand doorbell at my front door, and the picture quality is not nearly as good as the Nest. It was simple to install, and my network immediately picked it up. The app is user-friendly, and I can even control my Nest thermostat in the same app. I think Nest is the best of video doorbells out there.

Great Video Doorbell
I got this Google Nest Video Doorbell (battery) about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It took a bit of research to find out how I was going to be able to view the video and hear the chime when at home. You do need to use a Google mini or a Google Hub Speaker or a compatible TV to hear and see the video and chime. I purchased a Google Hub Max to be able to view and hear the Google Nest Video Doorbell (battery) because my TV isn't a newer one. The doorbell comes with everything that you need to install it. It can be hardwired into you existing doorbell wiring with the wire leads that come in the box. It is advised to to fully charge the battery before installing. We had to place the doorbell on our brick wall because of where our old one was. This was a 2 person job. Once everything was up outside I was able view and talk to others via the Google home app through the doorbell. The night vision is great. My husband could clearly see that it was me at 11 pm. The different objects that you can be alerted to is very helpful. The only thing I wish the home app would do better is vibrate longer and to pick a louder notification sound. After adjusting the chimes sound, testing the different images that it will alert to and the two way voice it still shows 2 weeks of battery left. It does come with a key to release the doorbell to be able to charge it back up. I'm glad I got this video doorbell. It has given me a bit more piece of mind when I'm not home.

Phenomenal Product Loving my new Nest!
I am totally loving my new Nest Doorbell(Battery)Alarm Monitoring System. It is absolutely fantastic. It takes such a clear view of the person’s/people infront of my door.
