Good impression!
This is the second WD My Passport I bought a few months ago. The case is more comfortable to grasp (compared with the previous design), and the texture is good-looking. The actual capacity is 3.63 TB, which should be enough for long-term backup of my videos, docs, photos, etc. It is somewhat disappointing to find that I can't decrypt the drive on Android devices. Overall, the product is good and suitable for anyone with a limited budget and a massive data storage need.

My Passport died.
Awful. I bought My Passport in 2020, and everything was great. But a few months ago, when I connected it to my PC and tried to open a folder, it didn’t work. My whole Explorer froze for a minute and then displayed an error. From there, when I realized something was wrong, I decided to play it safe and transfer all my folders to my PC. Halfway through the first folder, the speed dropped to 0 bytes/second and never went back up. After about two hours, I decided to cancel it — and even that took another 5 minutes. All my backups were there. I couldn’t access any of them. One day ago, I decided to try again. When it didn’t work, I thought formatting it might “help.” I couldn’t format it. Then I tried deleting the main partition — it failed and said something like: “The request failed due to a fatal device hardware issue.” I downloaded WD Drive Utilities. It recognized My Passport, but said it had 0 bytes. I tried formatting it from there — another error. So now I’m stuck with a non-working My Passport, and the warranty expired in 2022.

The only external harddisk you need, and the best
Small, different colors, good value, fast, user-friendly software, full backup service software, plug and play, durable. My first WD Passport 2TB red has been connected to my PC ever since I bought it 5/6 years ago, I use it to store files that I need to be able to take with me on the road. Just bought a new on exactly the same model and size, this will be used as a backup drive of my complete boot drive, a clone ready to reinstall if something goes wrong using the included Acronis True Image software. I trust this drive 100% but I also have a NAS. Once I get my media platform set up, it will include a WD Passport as well 6TB

very complicated - read-only locked
Unfortunately the WD worst storage I've come across, very complicated, unfriendly, read-only locked, waste of time

Really fast, reliable, sleek and classy!
I've had this for 2yrs, it started as a mass storage device for my video games, then moved to security system storage and now is my PC backup along with some other stuff. This is a beast, I love it and have disconnected it thrown it in my back pocket and used it for random on the job stuff. This baby is in a nice lil case that looks classy and sturdy, I recently just transferred around 400gb of stuff onto it and for a HD i was very impressed with how quickly my new high end super fast computer fed this baby and the HD was done very quickly (albeit not as quick as M.2 etc. but still impressive).

My passport is great!
I’ve had it for a month and haven’t had any issues. This is my 2nd WD portable hard drive. Easy to set up, just plug in and go! I have the older one from years ago but it is pretty full with pictures, so I got another and it works great, quickly, and efficiently. No discs or anything confusing. Make your folders and drag and drop! It is not super light, feels nice!

Great portable storage option
If you’re like me, you usually run out of storage space on your electronics. WDs My passport is a game changer. Not only was I able to free up space on my computer, but I was able to easily transfer larger files from my computer to a friends. I’ve read others reviews before trying this product myself and I can vouch for the positive ones. I’ll also add that nothing is perfect and there will be issues time to time, but it sounds like the company is more than willing to help out in those situations. My only complaint is the packaging is not the best and could be improved as the box was a little ripped up when I received it through the mail.

So far so good
This 4TB drive is compact and just want I needed to back up my old Mac. I plugged it into my new PowerBook, opened disk utility, and had it formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in about a minute. Since I have an old 2011 iMac, I needed to use the older file system. I also ran some speed tests with BMD disk speed test and it did well for a none-SSD (see attached photo). If you need an easy-to-use and portable drive, It is hard to beat WD.
