Canon imageCLASS D1650 (2223C023) All-in-One, Wireless Laser Printer with AirPrint, 45 Pages Per Minute and 3 Year Warranty
This Canon imageCLASS D1650 product has been superior to the former Brother multifunction printer we used previously. It appears to be better built, can accommodate more paper, and prints faster than the Brother device. However, the out of the box experience was disappointing. The biggest problem is that several functions of the Canon device are locked by default on the touch screen. For example, you cannot arrange the order of the icons on the touch screen without an ID and Pin. The start up guide does not include this information, nor a tech support number that I found. Since you will need it, here it is: 1-800-652-2666. I finally found a number to tech support, got the ID and Pin, and unlocked the device. They were very helpful. The manufacturer also reached out to me after I posted a question here. But what is the rationale behind locking functions by default on the device you purchased? It certainly doesnt make a good 1st impression.

To many quirks with this unit. I was so frustrated with the unit that it would not print my jobs. Print jobs were sitting in the que. I turned the computer off and then they printed. This is what I have to do to get my copies. My husband does not need to do this with his computer though. It takes forever to print a few documents. It goes through some kind of an automatic cycle after it prints. which takes time if you want another job to print right after it. It is very noise. The scan feature is not very easy,

I love this printer. Is it easy to set up? Don’t have a clue. Someone else did it for me. But it prints and copies Ike a dream. Love printing from my phone too

Let me start by saying this is replacing a stand up ricoh machine that I have had in the office for years. I find this canon to print great quality and quickly. Holds plenty of paper for most printing needs, and loads easily when needed. Connecting to the network was straight forward as with any printer the setup for network, it was the same. Scanning and faxing work as well if not better than my ricoh unit and thus far I have not had a single complaint. Now obviously I have many years of experience dealing with printers so some may struggle setting up scan folders or what not but it is not hard once you understand the process. I have been using this for almost 6 weeks and I see the toner is basically the same usage as I am used to. I am very happy with this unit and am happy to say it is now a permanent replacement for my ricoh. I would gladly buy again and will happily recommend it to anyone.

UPDATE: I still like this printer. A lot. But the main issue continues to be the workability of the Touch Screen. It seems to have become less responsive over time. Scrolling through the Function screens sideways is impossible unless you forget about trying to touch the scrolling arrows and use your fingernail to push on the extreme edge of the screen. Otherwise, the function closest to the arrow will deploy. I dont understand why the touch sensors are not more accurately positioned for scrolling. Similarly, choosing a function often requires holding a fingernail firmly on the icon to get it to go to the next screen. Simply touching it, or touching and holding with a finger pad, is not enough to activate the function. For a printer that costs as much as this one does, this Touch Screen is pretty lacking. I would downgrade to 3 1/2 *** if that were an option. Its better than a 3 *** for sure, but the Touch Screen really deserves a 1 1/2 * ding. --------- ORIGINAL REVIEW--------------------------- This printer was one of the easiest printers I have ever set up. It took longer to unpack it than to set it up. It quickly connected to my wifi network and I was printing within a half-hour of getting it. — This prints Black & White documents only. IT IS NOT A COLOR PRINTER. For some reason, that information was not easy to find in the initial product description, so I thought Id mention it first and in all caps. — Setup is a breeze. — Its about as attractive as printer this large can be, if that matters. To me it does, because it is in a home office. I also recommend measuring before ordering because it is a large printer. — The Touch Screen is great, but it doesnt always respond to touch in the expected way. There is sometimes just a lag, sometimes items require multiple finger jabs to get them to highlight, and in some cases, the area you need to touch is so close to other touch-responsive items on the screen that it takes some doing to touch the exact spot needed to do the task you are trying to do: Typing in my very long wifi password was super easy, but selecting the country I am in required many attempts. — The paper tray holds a ton on paper. I did not get the additional tray model, but apparently there is one, or possibly more, that stacks to expand the number of paper trays. If you need more than one tray, you should check about that. — Printing is very quick (the printer was immediately available in my printer menu without doing anything) and the quality is very good. — I scan through the Preview app on a Mac. When I opened Preview to make the first scan, this printer was already there waiting for me to click. — Copying is very easy to do with this printer - both single and multiple page docs. But again, I have to push on the Copy icon on the Touch Screen with the tip of my fingernail for a few seconds to get a response. If I simply touch, or even press on the icon with the pad of finger, nothing happens. — I have not had it long enough to know how long the toner cartridge lasts, nor if the included cartridge is a full-size one. Its been a while since Ive had a printer that was this easy to set up and then use. It seems to be well-thought out and the large TouchScreen is a big help, although its glitchy. Fortunately, most of the glitchyness was related to selecting items in the initial setup and not in the actual use of the printer.

Very fast printer for if you are making multiple large copies of fliers, books, presentations etcetera. Has some nice features for printing, faxing, and from your computer, cell phone, tablet. This is a good small business printer, great for a CPA, or other small service business such as legal services or maybe a dentist office. Can shrink documents and print ID cards too, although not in color. While the print is not in color, the control panel is and you have an easy to use touch screen. You can print not only from wireless, but you can do sneakernet (walk your media) with a USB drive. The printer comes with a top document feeder that works well if printing large documents. The feeder and top lift off if you are doing scanning. Again a good business printer, Cannon is decent quality and a monochrome laser printer is probably the best economic use of a printer based on cost per copy, and the quality of the print in great. Recommended for small business, maybe overkill for a home unit unless you have a house full of students, or do home office type stuff.

This is a very large printer that also weighs a LOT! Have a strong work surface to place it is a must! Print quality is amazing! It is very fast. Copy and scans like a champ. The setup was painless and once connected to our LAN everyone has access not only from their computers, but also their cell phones. How cool is that? It took me more time to unbox this printer than it did to setup and have working. Canon is the best after having tried many other brands. It just works anytime you need it, it doesnt let us down. You can make changes to the printer from the LAN with ease. Ive tried it with lots of different types of papers and all work fine. Even heavy card stock. All in all this is a great printer that well deserves a full five stars!

...if you dont need color copies and want the additional convenience of a scanner and b/w copier (with wireless capability) and fax in a single unit, this could be a good choice. Its footprint is substantial and at over 40 pounds its almost certainly to a two-person job to get it into its final location. Print quality and speed are excellent. Print and scan outputs have many options for both local and remote printing and saving. The scanner saves in mutliple common formats, including .pdf, .jpg and .tif. This will easily support an entire household or small workgroup if you are ready to invest in learning its confuiguration options (wired and wireless). Good MFD. Select with confidence.
Make sure this fitsby entering your model number. Print at speeds of up to 45 pages per minute, with your first print in your hands in approximately 6 seconds.
