TLDR: the display is fantastic, however at this size with a flat panel either you sit close to the monitor and have to move youre head and/or deal with distortions at the edges or you have to use o/s scaling (around 150%) and dont truly benefit from the 4K I use the monitor for productivity (writing code, using browsers, spreadsheets, text editors, machine vision etc) as well as media viewing (films, tv series, YouTube), not gaming. It was exactly what I was hoping for, picture quality is great, although I havent tried HDR, 10bit colours or any program that would benefit from a high (>30Hz) refresh rate. The VA panel is noticeably better than some TN 4k panels Ive looked at. The size is just large enough that if I use it close to me I dont need any scaling but my eyes are good and its not the most comfortable. Especially moving my head up and down is noticeably uncomfortable and unnatural compared to side to side. However at this size, sitting close to the monitor, the distortion on the edges of the screen becomes a problem. You could sit further back but then you would definitely have to scale and scaling is often unreliable/unsupported and eats into your screen real estate, which is especially unfortunate for spreadsheets or having multiple programs open simultaneously. I use it without scaling and move programs that I am not actively using to the corners of the screen (programs such as resource monitors, loading windows, less important web tabs etc.) And thats great. But honestly, if you have the budget, get a larger curved ultrawide with less vertical resolution. But these monitors are generally a lot more expensive in which case, like me, this monitor may be the best compromise especially if you watch the odd TV series episode from a little way away.

The monitor failed after 6 months and we have been waiting for over 2 months for LG to fix the monitor. Customer service does not communicate with the repair facility and the repair facility does not respond to formal complaints. They are refusing to replace or provide a refund. After constant complaints, no one will give us a direct answer as to when it might be repaired or respond to our request for a replacement or refund. This is the worst customer service ever. If you purchase an LG monitor and it happens to be a dud...good luck at getting them honoring their warranty. I will never buy an LG product again...ever!

This monitor is not USB-C. See screenshot clearly showing this has USB-C (taken at the time I purchased it). Monitor arrived- has no USB-C. Way way overprices for a monitor with no USB-C.

Love the VA panel and resolution. Upscales 1080p input well. Build quality is solid and non-glossy (unlike LGs other models). Only two complaints are the speakers (I use a DeepBlue2 bluetooth speaker anyways) and lack of usb ports (stuck a usb 3.0 hub behind it). I have solutions to my issues, so I wont deduct stars but for those wondering. Note, VA panels have contrast shift at an angle. Some compare it to TN panels and their color shift when viewed at an angle (nowhere near as bad) but I prefer contrast shift to IPS glow (or backlight bleed risk) when purchasing an IPS. PSA: To get black blacks, configure the following settings: Picture > Picture Adjust > Black Level = Low; Picture > Game Adjust > Black Stabilizer = 0 (thanks to review on last gen model) UPDATE: The 3.5mm jack audio output sounds like garbage. like underwater but also pops like crazy when the frequency gets too high. I hope its just a defect because Ive used last years 27" 4K monitor and it was fine. -1 star until I can confirm it is a defect UPDATE 2: I ended up returning this one due to the bad headphone jack but it was a defect. Shouldnt have it if you purchase one. Still a great display.

This is my first 4K monitor and I love it. I was never too big on HD, people swear they can see a big difference between 720p and 1080p that I couldnt see. Just as a troll, I would secretly play a DVD and tell them it was bluray then ask them how it looked. The answer was usually something like: "WOW! 1080p IS SO MUCH BETTER!" Yeah, Im a jerk. Just ask Amazons review moderators. But thats not what Im here to tell you about. The jump from 1080 to 4k is VERY noticable. All my best video games are looking fabulous. I am noot an expert so if youre looking tech-specs, look somewhere else. All I can claim is to be a convert. ALL HAIL THE 4K! It will be our new god! May its transcendent luminous glow reach you brothers.

The right purchase for me!!! I had first ordered an AOC curved monitor that would not wake with the pc. After prompting a return, I was back searching for a monitor with a budget. $400 Budget. It’s really hard for me to buy something and not physically see it. I based my purchase off of reviews and options. The 32UD59 has two hdmi inputs and this only has one. That works for me, for some it may not. I have seen reviews with complaints about image quality and colors. I did not experience that. I love the colors and clarity. Bottom line is, unless you are willing to shuck out $1000 plus for an hdr monitor this 4K monitor looks great. I don’t use it for a tv and I sit directly in front of it. Perfect for me. Adjust all menu. Disc with all drives on it also. I added the onscreen adjustments from the disc for convenience. Screen in screen works perfectly. Speakers sound like tv speakers. Bottom line. $400 this monitor is a steal. Out of the box to pc in minutes. For the price and features there is nothing to complain about unless it arrives doa.

Love love love this monitor. It’s huge and looks amazing. Works perfectly with my MacBook Pro from USB-C to Display Port or HDMI. The joystick controller is awesome and the monitor is light and beautiful. Split screen is really cool and I’m able to fit so much more on my screen with the better resolutions.

My computer is running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. YouTube and various video formats are vivid and quite satisfactory for the price. But application fonts (on menus, etc.) are way too small to read! I have gone around & around with LG tech support and tried every setting on the Windows control panels, etc. The only Windows drivers that LG makes for this monitor are for Windows 10 (not Win 7). LGs "On Screen Control" application does various tricks but wont increase the app font size. I even had my optometrist make me a pair of custom computer glasses; theyre great, but not good enough to fix this problem. I want to have a giant stock-trading screen. If any of you monitor-experts out there can recommend a good monitor for that purpose, PLEASE leave a comment below. What feature(s) should I be shopping for in a monitor?

Coming form optics and photography background, my eyes are a bit picky. If you compare this side by side with my old dell IPS from 6 years ago (U-2412), this screens gray scale is pretty terrible, dark scenes in video become mostly light gray with patches of complete black - no transition in between at all, might be problem with gamma or factory calibration. Also I tried using the audio jack, but there is constant buzzing noise -- really annoying! Overall Im a bit regret and thinking if I should return it.

We have several makes and models of 4K monitors at work, most are over $1k. I have my LG at home for web browsing, email, documents and photo editing and it is as good or better than the more expensive ones at work. The Asus unit I have at work has given me nothing but grief with the USB hub, the controls are annoying and it has intermittent aberrations in the display that are computer independent. Im close to replacing it with one of these LG- I feel the picture is better for reading documents and console work and the black is a bit darker and more consistent. I only use the sound output on the monitor because my new video card to drive the 4K induces noise into the DAC on the motherboard, so cant say anything about the onboard speakers.
