I purchased this computer because it is advertised as a "Signature Edition" computer. And that it definitely is - not a single piece of bloatware on this thing - a clean installation of Windows 10 and thats it. What a great experience in getting to the desktop for the first time and not seeing it half filled with a bunch of "crippleware" trial version programs that you have no interest, nagging you to update to the full version; and no shortcuts to web pages full of advertising and cookie setting bots. When it finally gets to the desktop after the initial setup, youll be ready to immediately go to work and not spend the next hour deleting programs you dont want. Especially nice is that it doesnt come with a trial version of an anti-virus program that youll either have to pay for the full version in 30 days or go through a complicated uninstall process. Yes, I know that Ill get some flak for being a fan of Windows Defender, but for everyday, normal home users Windows Defender (which is installed on this computer - its part of Windows 10) will work just fine. This is a basic computer that will work just fine for any home user. If you do video editing or are a heavy PhotoShop user, then this one probably isnt going to work for you. It has a lot of memory (8G) and a huge hard drive (1Tb) which are great pluses for this price. A couple of minor complaints: 1- no "power" indicator light on the power switch - the first time you turn it on out of the box, youll be hitting the switch a couple of times looking for the light. 2- like some other Reviewers have noted, this thing is pretty "plasticy" - I wouldnt buy this if it is going to get bounced around a lot. For normal use, though, itll work just fine. Others have complained about the heavy track pad and buttons, but I use a wireless USB mouse as I dont like track pads, so I have no opinion about this issue. Also, this computer comes with a touch screen - I am used to having a mouse, so I probably wont make heavy use of the touch screen. I did verify that it works. As with any new computer, dont turn this on for the first time until you have an hour or so to wait for and monitor the Windows Update which will run when you first use it. It did download and install 4 Gb of updates fairly quickly (about an hour in my case). The initial setup went flawlessly. Finally, a note about Prime shipping on this. This is advertised as Prime eligible, but it will not be shipped by Second Day delivery. A number of reviewers have posted negative comments on the Vendors review page about this issue. This is NOT the vendors fault. This computer comes equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery and federal regulations prohibit shipments by air of lithium batteries over a certain size and capacity. So the vendor has no choice but to ship this by Ground (UPS in my case). So please dont rag on the vendor about this. Instead, criticize Amazon for not making this issue clear on the product page - Amazon should put a clear message on the product page that this item is not able to be shipped by Air and it will take a few extra days to arrive. If youre looking for a nice, easy to use computer for home (or a basic office setup), you need look no further than this one. And definitely well worth the extra couple of days it took to arrive.

For under $400 including delivery I am impressed with this purchase. Before writing a report I wanted to give "this thing" a good going over. I have put it to work extensively for the past two weeks and I cant find any area of deficiency. It boots up very quickly so that I can get on with productivity. Initially I had difficulty with the touch pad which I thought was insensitive, but I have since discovered the reason. Because this unit is black all over, my finger was straying outside the touch area therefore missing the most sensitive area. A distinguishing colour in the touch sensitive area may have made a difference but I do not know how achievable that would be. The touch screen is a different matter altogether. Its very responsive indeed just like the more expensive ones in the market. I like the fact that the battery charging indicator tells you how much charge you have left and when charging tells you the time remaining to achieve full charge. The cd/dvd drive works well. I have not tested the speaker sound quality because if I need good sound I would rather use a Bluetooth speaker. The unit feels solid, as solidly put together as others in the market, and it was delivered with good packaging and on time. I endorse.

I have had this laptop for under 5 months, and its already falling apart. Within 2 months, an upgrade was required, and the drivers for the audio were uninstalled. After a lengthy chat with tech support, a new driver was installed, but sound quality diminished significantly. At the 4 month mark, the screen started glitching. The computer still works fine, but I would have to close the computer to "re-start" the monitor. Just this week (about 5 months in), my computer shut off because it says the fan is not cooling properly and may result in losing files. Additionally, today the volume stopped working again. This computer is crap. If I had to do-over, I would definitely purchase something different.

Boots fast, on the desktop logged in within 45 seconds. Not even a solid state drive, thats surprisingly good. The keyboard is perfect, I had to return a different brand laptop because the mushy keyboard was unresponsive but this laptop was the perfect replacement. I have plenty of RAM to multitask many Chrome Tabs, Photoshop, and even a game at the same time. It runs simple games like Town of Salem and Dota (minimal graphics) just fine but City Skylines struggles. Its perfect for streaming games through Steam on a local network though. It draws about 20W or less while in use with a charged battery compared to almost 500W from my Custom Gaming PC. Good way to save power when not needing the beefy PC. The touchscreen comes in handy all the time but keep in mind you CANNOT use it to paint in Photoshop- it is restricted. Fingerprints overall do show, all over. I always wash my hands on the job but I still manage to leave marks all over. Very happy with my purchase and price so far.

After a few months the screen has bubbled and there is an inky substance running through it. I contacted HP and they said the warranty will not cover this and it will be a $500 repair. Thats more than the laptop cost brand new! Now I have a useless 4 month old laptop. Very dissatisfied with HP and their service.

I had the product for 4 days and it broke. HP said I had to pay $25 to expediate because I use it for business. I shouldn’t have to pay anything. HP also said it would be 5-7 business days. After 14 days they wrote an email and said the part that was needed would take 9-11 days for receipt. This is a business computer and I can’t wait over a month for repair on a brand new computer. They should have sent me a brand new one or at least a loaner. Unacceptable Way to do business.

The keypads keys are hard and uncomfortable to use but a wireless mouse is a fairly cheap buy and thus far its a decent laptop

This is a great machine for everything that I do. It boots up quickly and is blindingly fast. I use it for Office, Internet, Ebay, and photo work and it is great. This laptop was a terrific buy and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Hp is crap! Dont buy this laptop. Mine took a crap after 5 months. Hps customer service sucks!! We were on the phone for three hours, and they wont replace it! Buy Toshiba, Dell, or Apple.

I guess you get what you pay for. It works okay. But the 3rd or 4th time the battery comes unplugged & you lose everything you were working on, youll wish you spent more. My battery finally just gave out completely. Id buy a new one but Im afraid it might be a problem with the connection and not the battery itself. So the laptop only works when its plugged in. I wish I just bought a better laptop in the first place. Im clear currently looking at redoing a bunch of work bcuz it came unplugged for a second. So frustrating
