I like it, I mean it, but I cant bring it to school wtihout my charger, it just cant last that long! The battery life can only last 4.5 hours maximum of school work. Everything else seems so nice for this Ultrabook, it is good for gaming when I got home because it has a GTX 1050 Ti, which is better than DELL XPS 15. it is good at doing some work. And it is beautiful with the Brushed metal design.

I do lots of video editing and music production so I needed something portable and powerful as Im always on the go. I decided to go with Asus because my Vivobook from 2013 was keeping up with my workload pretty well and it was extremely reliable. Yes theres some coil whine and no the battery doesnt last that long but I dont care. I just need it to look nice and be efficient and it is. I can edit 4K raw footage with no problems and render times are absolutely incredible. When working with music production I can open a project with 50+ plugins and have many other programs running and it works flawlessly. This laptop handles thermals well and I dont experience very much throttling at all when working. It is all metal and it is really thin for what its packing inside. Yes, it has keyboard flex if you try but you have other problems if you are pressing the keys that hard. If you just want to get some work done and look good doing it then I highly recommend this laptop. UPDATE: If youre editing short videos here and there this will be perfect. My workload increased and Im doing a film a day and they range from 5 minutes to 60 minutes and all the footage is 4k. Ive recently discovered the disadvantages of editing on a laptop. It does get warm over time and it also suffers from Power Limit Throttling since it is a 45w processor and not a 95w like you would find in a desktop. SInce it is a laptop the CPU is locked so you cant override it. Sometimes while editing and definitely while rendering the CPU clocks down to as low as .80 GHZ and fluctuates between that and 2.00 GHZ. I still have great render times but it makes life hard when trying to edit. Also, if you have large timelines, (30-90 minutes) 16GB of RAM is not quite enough so keep that in mind. This laptop still works incredibly well for music production and I have had no issues there. Video production is just very demanding on systems so I recommend a desktop if you edit a lot of videos. I still give it 5 stars because this laptop is currently making me a lot of money and its been very reliable. I plan to keep it for a while.

Install Flash Player People whine about thermal throttling and coil whine, no pun intended! ;) But seriously, I bought this used like-new condition from Amazon warehouse which was most likely a return and CDI showed only a couple hours on the SSD. I love this laptop and have had it for about a month now. I hardly ever write product reviews, but it seems like there are a lot of complaints about this laptop and it doesnt get the credit it deserves. For these specs while maintaining slim and light profile good luck finding a better deal. I did pay $1400 plus tax which is slightly lower than the current price but I challenge others to comment on laptops with similar specs and design quality to compare this to. The Dell XPS 15 is in the archetype but lacks the specs unless you want to pay $2000. And sure, it has a 4k display, but at the cost of earlier GPU model, on a 15" with the pixel density, 4k is just marketing unless you need 4k for visual design projects there is not much point, you have to render 4k and then increase zoom anyway. There are some drawbacks though and 1. I am not super impressed with the keyboard. It performs fine and no problems with ghosting, but when Im really hammering away at the keys like Im used to doing on my desktop pc, there is a slight rattle, but thats just me being too rough on the keyboard due to my fast and high-actuation force typing habits. The next issue is that I really liked the silver design of the UX430UN, and I wish they would have incorporated that design into this build rather than the black spun metal which is very attractive and has class, but also attracts fingerprints. So have an anti-static microfiber cloth and screen/keyboard cleaner handy (which you should when you own a touchscreen laptop anyway), but its not as bad as I might make it sound. Its not a fingerprint magnet, its just that the silver spun metal design didnt show any fingerprints, greasy or clean barely. Lastly, sure, there is some thermal throttling if you are playing graphic intensive games, but I can play Destiny 2 on Medium settings with a few things tweaked at 60FPS no problem. It will start to slow down as it heats up a little bit, but a Havik cooling pad eliminates that problem. Keep in mind this is not a gaming-designed laptop although it plays most games very well. The thermal engineering was done well and the keyboard never gets hot, only the back and only when youre running the GPU at full load for an extended period. Any other case it runs cool, setting it on your lap and browsing, editing office files, watching videos, it will stay nice and cool for around 10-11 hours of basic mixed use.

Only downside I have encountered is that is smudges easily - and slight disappointment that it cant charge from tb3 in a clutch (but not surprising considering the power). I was hesitant to buy this laptop, obviously there is lots of competition and debate - and I heard a lot about coil whine and keyboard flex. Neither are the case... but Ill address them specifically: -You can press uncomfortably hard to make the keyboard flex, considering it is only an issue if you force it to be.. it isnt a real issue. -It whines a bit when charging(actually charging, not when plugged in and fully charged)... barely noticeable, but it is there - afaik this is typical of power lithium-ion batteries. This is not the same as coil whine which I have not encountered on my machine.

10/31/2018: I purchased this machine to supplement/replace my slower 2012 13" Mac Air, mostly because of my interest in Day Trading and the software compatibility issues I might encounter with non-Windows products. Also, to more assuredly pair with 2 ASUS ASUS MB169b+ USB 3.0 15.6" flat screen displays. Im typically a Mac guy, so using a PC at home is going to take some getting use to. This has Windows 10, and Edge as the default browser-fine, ok, but Windows 10 and Edg arent as intuitive as OSX. For one, I wanted to set up my bookmarked URLs, and normally you can just right click on the browser area where they should go, but not with Edge. You need to noodle around in Settings. Same with setting up the Home page-not intuitive. Its a little annoying. FYI, the Windows/Settings icon is helpful though. There is that. This machine does appear to have the power, speed, and value that I was looking for. My other choice wouldve been the latest Dell XPS...or the tempting, new Mac laptops that were announced yesterday... Ive read complaints about a whining noise, but I havent experienced that, thankfully, but there where so many stories about this that I discovered after placing my order that I was almost going to cancel it. Pros and Cons: + Machine arrived within 3 days of ordering. + Light and sleek, ok, thats nice-everything should be nowadays anyway. + Easy to set up, just power up and walk through the typical 5 minutes of account setup. + 15.6" screen is large enough and is bright and crisp. + Paired easily with 2 ASUS MB169b+ USB 3.0 15.6" flat screen displays, no compatibility issues. Both USB inputs are on the right side, and so the cord is a little tight with the left side monitor, but Ill get a longer one if needed once I decide to put them on stands. + Powerful, dynamic speakers. + SSD is quiet as expected, unless updates are made. + Finger print login is a nice feature, fast. - Cortana voice-controlled help service is annoying, but can be hidden on task bar. Done. - When updates are made, CPU fan revs up and down, leaving user wondering if itll ever shut off. Out of the box, there are several updates to be made that can be observed in the task manager. Will update once I run multiple applications, to see if it causes the fan to run constantly, which is going to be annoying/unacceptable. It doesnt, though, run with the 2 ASUS USB monitors plugged in. - No backlit keyboard. Wouldve preferred, being accustomed to my Mac Air 13" and work machines, but I knew this wasnt a feature on this machine. +/- Has an effective touch screen, but I wouldve preferred to have a backlit keyboard instead. Ok, whatever, Ill try to use it since I paid for it. More to come after the honeymoon is over!

Ive been meaning to upgrade my computer for a couple of years because I use programs like AutoCAD and Photoshop for designing. Im not an industrial designer or architect so I dont do serious 3D renderings and drafting, but I do work in 3D intermittently and do extensive 2D drafting and graphics. So far, after about having it for a month with my essential programs installed, this laptop boots in less than 15 seconds when you power it on. AutoCAD and Photoshop also boots quickly - about 10 to 15 seconds its ready to go. Color on screen is great too. Keyboard is not as quiet as Id like it to be, but its totally acceptable (I think). Battery power is great too - to me, being able to work in my graphic stuff without plugging in my laptop for three-four hours is miracle. Bit weighty - the power adapter is pretty big too (somebody compared it to a stack of three iPhone Xs and thats a pretty good description of it.) Im not an expert on sound quality, but Im pretty happy with it for listening to music and video. I DO experience the wireless getting glitchy sometimes - Id be at home working and then suddenly it will disconnect itself from my WiFi, but then quickly reconnects itself. Not sure if its the computer or my home network though - I mostly work from home so not sure if it will do the same thing elsewhere. So far so good!

Ive only had my new Asus Zenbook Pro for a couple of weeks, but already notice how responsive (fast) it is over my previous Sony laptop. Build looks sturdy and notice any of the flex in the key board that others reported. Both the screen sharpness and sound quality are a pleasure. However am noticing that the black carbon finish will be difficult to keep clean as it shows every smudge and finger print. One difficulty Ive come across, is that the finger pad is very slick and sometimes doesnt move the cursor across the screen accurately. All and all very pleased with my purchase which I received as quickly as promised.

I love this computer, its fast and is built with quality in mind. I use it for music production that requires a lot of plug-ins and this beast is able to handle it. When I play StarCraft2 the fans are on full blast and are audible else I dont notice them. It has only been a week, I will update after a little more use.

Disclaimer. I have had this laptop for just about 24 hours. When I was researching this laptop, the complaints I found the most often were: too short battery life, coil whine, flimsy keyboard, and quiet speakers. My first day experience: laptop was at 40% after 3 hours of gaming. I have not heard any whining noises. The keyboard feels great to me, if you mash on the keyboard it might flex on you, but the average person shouldn’t have any issues with the keyboard. The speakers are much louder than I expected and plenty clear. So I was pleasantly surprised and happy with my purchase. The laptop looks amazing, however it DOES SMUDGE. So I would recommend keeping a microfiber cloth around. The one strange issue I’ve run into is sometimes things seem to freeze up if you run too many processes at once. It will start making this rapid beeping sound. It’s fixed for me if I just tap the power button to go to sleep and tap it again to bring it back. I’ll be investigating the cause of this more. So my final verdict, for $1300 this is an amazing laptop. If you’re on a bit of a budget but still want some power I highly recommend. Update: the webcam is pretty bad
