So far so good.I had a Lenovo Idea laptop for 6 years .It was fanatastic ,never broke down ,but is running slow now.And is so heavy. The Asus is so light 2.6lbs versus 4.7lbs.It boots in seconds,is fast, great picture on screen. If it holds up im going to really like it.Some reviews scared me .Noisy fan ,cant hear the fan at all.So do I have any complaints ? Well yes ,not serious ones .Too few USBs only 2 ,I always had 3 and miss the extra one.The keys are ok ,only ok ,not excited about them. Also I thought the keyboard was backlit, well ttheyre not..Despite those negatives ,I think I will really love this computer .I think you will too.Im glad I waited for the 8th generation ,its great. 1/14/2018 :After using this for a couple of weeks ,I have simmered down a bit.First I wish the screen was a little sharper and being a small screen it gets a little hard to read the lettering.I also notice that the sound while ok ,is not too great.Im comparing this Zen to a Lenovo ideapad which is 6 or 7 years old, much sharper, better sound ,but almost twice as heavy.I notice it is (kinda) backlit ,again not as well backlit as the Lenovo .I will say the Lenovo cost $200 more than the Zen.What I appreciate most is the 7 second boot time and the long battery life. 2/2/2018 An update.I got a scare a week ago.I got a black screen ,it wouldnt boot.I kept trying turning of and on for an hour.Eventually it started to work again.I did a restore point. The only problem with buying a computer online is ,its not easy to return.Prices are better on Amazon but unlike Best Buy you cant drive and return it.Food for thought. 7/6/2018 AN UPDATE: After more than 6 months ,I want to alert you about this computers shortcomings. There are two big ones. The sound system is bad ,I cant hear hardly anything the sound is so low at full settings.Tech support put in new drivers which did nothing ,very disappointed .I would advise not buying this computer on this alone. The second issue ,the keyboard is crap and was crap from the day I took delivery .It has what is called sticky keys .Meaning when typing you have to go back to enter missing letters.NOT GOOD.

A couple days ago first one came in an unopened clean box. Laptop was clean and untouched. It was flawless! I was so happy after TEN years with my good old 5.8 lb VAIO, which Im writing this review on. Everything was great and laptop was so smooth, fast, lightweight, it has awesome track pad sensitivity and feeling (contrary to reviews Ive seen) and a beautiful design, BUT... There was an incredible buzzing noise whenever I scroll down/up. Im not sure if it was coming from the fan or something, but it sounded like itd be a serious problem in a foreseeable future. Ive returned it. The second one came today. Product box was already opened (black tape with ASUS logo on it was cut) and it was really disappointing. Still, I kept going to see if it were acceptable or not. There were fingerprints everywhere, a scratch on the screen and another one on the case. Annoying white dust stuck between the bottom side of the screen and the bezel (I dont know how did they manage to do that because there is almost no even any space between the screen and the bezel!). And lastly, Windows 10 installing guide was different than the first one. It was weird/clipped and made me uncomfortable. Frustrated, Ive returned that too and got a refund. Ill probably wait a little before I order another one or look for a different laptop. Im so sorry about all this because its a beautifully designed and really fast laptop -according to my 2 day experience with the first one-...

Performance: 5 stars Screen: 2 stars Finishes: 2 stars Power button location: -3 stars This computer got good performance reviews by tech sites and met most of my wants (SSD, light weight, RAM) so I bought it through Amazon. It looks nice but the top got scratched almost immediately. The screen looked terrible. It has a matte finish that may have blocked glare but it also blocked me seeing what was on the screen. I always had the brightness turned up very high, which eats up battery. I also found it difficult just to open the laptop. You have to hold it in one specifically notched out area. The deal breaker for me was something relatively small. The power button is intergrated into the keyboard. Its on the top right next to the delete button. There is no space away from the other keys. I was regularly turning off my computer instead of hitting the delete key, which leads to unsaved work and missed info during meetings/lectures. I highly recommemd finding this laptop (or another non-touchscreen zenbook model) on display somewhere before you buy online.
