I had this computer for 4 months and it completely crashed out of the blue one day. I work from home, never really move my computer it sits on my desk but I do use it a lot. It went completely black, no lights, etc. It was a motherboard issue. I understand sometimes computers have faulty parts and thats all fine but I went through Asus support and I will tell you they have the worst customer support I have ever dealt with (and Ive had Time Warner Cable before so that says something). I sat on the phone with them for an hour and a half after this happened and after going through all the motions to get it sent back in for repair they told me they couldnt process my repair and I had to go through the whole process again online. Eventually I got hold of a manger (after 10 minutes of the guy telling me his manager wasnt around). And all they gave me was free shipping for my trouble. Which is crazy to make anyone pay for shipping when THEIR product failed due to THEIR faulty motherboard. I sent in my computer, they said it would take 10 or so business days after they received it to even repair it. My fedex tracking number said it arrived friday... on monday afternoon my repair status hadnt been updated and when I called support they didnt know where my computer was. Thats where Im at right now, IF I ever get my computer back I hope it lasts more than 4 months next time. I also will NEVER be purchasing an Asus computer ever again and I suggest nobody else does either.

I wish this laptop came exactly as it promises. What Ive received is a glitchy laptop. Maybe this is an anomaly, so Ive requested a replacement for this laptop. If I no longer encounter the glitches (stated below) in the replacement laptop, I will update this review. CONS: 1) Wifi keeps getting disconnected A LOT! 2) Google Chrome was not loading properly initially. 3) Touchpad malfunctions sometimes if I accidentally touch the fingerprint sensor at the same time. Touchpad continues malfunctioning until laptop is rebooted. 4) Speaker volume is too low. 5) Certain windows (such as the Settings window) do not open right away. They just hang on you. They only open when you close the window and re-open it again. 6) Fingerprint sensor doesnt work sometimes when you try to log in PROS: 1) Lightweight - perfect weight 2) Beautiful minimalist design - very portable 3) Minimalist Charger design - small/lightweight charger 4) Large touchpad 5) Very good pricing for great features (Intel i7, dedicated graphics card, high GHz) 6) Beautiful Matte finish on the screen - better than glossy screens Overall, this would be an excellent laptop if it wasnt so GLITCHY. Im doubtful about the reliability of Asus brand after my experience. Im willing to give them one last chance though and hope that the replacement laptop wont have the same issues.

Everything about this laptop is perfect unless your using this for music production or DJing. I really liked that laptop but when I run fruity loops studio or rekordbox, I would get static/distortion. The amount is minimal but there shouldnt be any at all for a powerful laptop. I tried everything from updating drivers, changing the buffering, and reinstall. All my music sounds like its being played thru VNYL records with some minor distortion. If your using this laptop for anything other than DJing or music production, it is the best laptop available.

For the money I have no complaints. I wanted a laptop to do all my everyday basic tasks with no lag and it does a decent job running csgo when I feel the need to kill some s*!t

I returned an ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Laptop, even though it was a very good computer, HOWEVER, this ASUS VivoBook S Thin & Light 14" Laptop IS EVEN BETTER, and well worth the extra $100 it cost me. I dont think I will be returning THIS VivoBook - never!!! Thanks for a super nice & great performing laptop...

Seems like okay laptop, feels cheap quality build for the price. The only thing that bugs me is that if you run anything more demanding than netflix, then the fan will be LOUD, and the bottom heats up really quick. Edit: After thinking about it, this laptop is really good. I couldnt build one better so why complain? For the size you would expect the loud fan and bad battery life.

Great Value! Hi, Coming to this Asus from a MacBook Air 11". The Vivobook line is mid-range not ultrabook like the Asus Zenbook line. However this means they spent the money on the important stuff: I7 cpu, MX150 Graphics, 14" IPS display. 8gb RAM and 256GB SSD. For me this is a better approach than a fancy case and lesser internals. I use this laptop at home for media consumption and general computing. Pros: Beautiful display! Boots really fast 3 USB Type A (1 3.0, 2 2.0) HDMI Out SD Card Reader Expandable RAM Slot, and 2.5" SSD bay Cons: Speakers not very loud, I often use a bluetooth speak when watching YouTube Fingerprint reader touchy, works maybe 80% of the time Track Pad a little touchy too, I set it to low response in Settings. USB Type C Port is just a USB 3.0 port, no display out or charge in. Overall I am very happy I bought the Vivobook. Battery life is good and this is a powerful enough PC it is not only replacing the MacBook it is replacing my desktop as well and I plan to add RAM and a 2nd 2.5" SSD and run Win10/Ubuntu dualboot FEBRUARY 2019 Update: One issue I complained about was the speakers not getting loud enough. That is easily fixed! Go into "Settings, System, Sound". Click on "Device Properties", and another window will open up. Click on the "Enhancements" tab. If "Phantom Speaker" is selected, uncheck it and check "3D Immersion" The speakers will get noticeably louder. I did try Linux on a 2nd ssd. Good news is the laptop is easy to open and install the drive. Bad news for me was I had issues with wifi, Bluetooth, the fingerprint scanner, but especially battery life even with Nvidia graphics switched off. I got through some of the issues but for me this is not a Linux machine, it runs too well on Win10 so thats where it stays. Still very happy with my purchase its a great laptop! O

i got this on Sep 30 2018 , on Nov 22nd 2018 the track pad stopped working . it started to glitch, and then stopped working .. totally. I know they use the same track pad solution for the entire line of the Vivo, so i may look for a different model .

I have just a few complaints about this Laptop, but keep in mind the same comparable Laptop online will cost you $200 dollars more. Pros: Adding a Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/S (PC4-19200) SR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT8G4SFS824A and a Crucial MX300 1TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT1050MX300SSD1 for storage was a snap and am hoping to do some video editing without the software crashing - do not game. Fingerprint Reader, Battery Saver Software, and Backlit Keyboard Hurray! Cons: (1). Unable to obtain a technical manual before purchasing an under $700 Laptop. You will not be able to upgrade the 256gb boot to a 512gb without removing the motherboard along with other components. This poses a problem if youd rather clone than back-up the OS. (2). You will need a #1 and #0 Phillips to remove the screws and open up the laptop. I have a set of Laptop screws and replaced the two #0s with #1s which voided the warranty? (3). Youll need to go to the McAfee website and download their MCPR removal tool in order to purge it from your system before you can even turn on Defender. REVO Uninstaller free did not work, but still I recommend you use REVO or comparable software for all you can first > then the MCPR tool. Remember to just use REVO and not the Pop-up uninstaller. McAfee is a Big Fish in my opinion. (4). OS is Windows 10 Home not Pro. That being said the OS is 1803 and youll need to take over an hour to update it to 1903 May 2019 Version. Wikipedia.org > Window 10 Version History > External Links > Windows 10 Download and Update Assistant. Hope this helps!
