Got the keyboard/mouse combo because of the encryption and better wireless security it offered. The keyboard has function keys but not full sized ones I prefer and I use F4 and F5 a lot. The function keys are not separated every 4 keys to make them easier to find by touch. The mouse wheel is a bit wobbly and sometimes gets stuck. Ill look to see if the brand I was using has an encrypted version. If there is and its reasonably priced, Ill send this back. Otherwise, I just make the best of it. The lack of a caps and numlock light on the keyboard is fine. A small dialog box shows up on the lower right side of the screen to let you know they have toggled positions. The box stays up about 5 seconds. A keyboard LED for both along with scrnlock would be better. The low battery LED on the keyboard (and looks like theres one on the mouse too) is nice. Other than the mouse wheel, the mouse has a nice form factor and easy to use. The keyboard is full size and comfortable to use. The palm heel rest is great.

Ive been using this combo for 11 months. I work from home and am literally on my computer all day logging lots of key stroke and using the mouse for some pretty extensive work. Its taken me a while to get use to the size and design of the mouse. Its more bulged out horizontally than I would like and has never really rested well. The right and left mouse buttons could be smoother feeling. The keyboard is what bothers me the most though. The keys themselves are big, think school keyboards. I type fairly quickly and more often than I would like, it misses a key stoke. Keys feel like they have too much clearance to log a stroke. Aesthetically, Its nice, and the Taskbar Favorite buttons are very useful. Final verdict?? For a power user Id try something different. For an average user, I think the combo overall is great.

It would be probably an ok keyboard and mouse for someone who doesnt work 8-14 hours on the computer. It served the purpose, I was looking for a solution of using one less USB outlet on my laptop, since these 2 uses the same USB cordless plug. Its great for that, but the keyboard is not what I was looking for. The keyboard is hard plastic by the wrist, NOT cushioned! It does not lay stable on the desk, it limps to the bottom left corner, and as I type it shakes and makes a noisy hitting sound between my desk and the plastic keyboard. The mouse doesnt always have a good wireless connection and it doesnt go where I point or click. Mouse to me was very uncomfortable for longer use. Again, I work on the computer and use the mouse a lot! My wrist cut circulation and my entire arm got numbed up to my shoulder only using it for 1 week. There is actually a pinched nerve in my neck since yesterday, no fun! (Previously I had a quality $100 mouse by Logitech, and I was used to it. But I needed more USB plugs.) I am returning the item (Microsoft wireless 2000) since I just went to Staples and my eyes got caught on this Ergonomic keyboard + mouse that was on sale. It is called Sculpt Ergonomic also by Microsoft. I bought it, didnt think twice. Oh boy what a difference! The mouse is like a ball, meaning that it is taller by the thumb. And since my hand is lifted by my thumb my wrist is unable to lay on the surface of my desk, what a relief! The keyboard is lifted by the wrist as well, and it is cushioned! so no more cutting circulation! Cool thing that the number keyboard that comes with this ergonomic keyboard is a separate 3rd piece so you can place the mouse closer to the keyboard (I think this would be beneficial for left handed ppl., to put it on the left hand side) And all these 3 pieces are connected wireless through this tiny USB plug. I like that the USB plug because its shorter than the one for Microsoft 2000 and it doesnt get in my way. I paid $99 for this ergonomic keyboard, after 30$ instant saving. I am returning the Desktop 2000 to Amazon. Thank you Amazon for making returns so easy and customer friendly! i can return for 1 month, print a free return label, and Amazon will schedule a UPS pick up for me. Awesome! Always save the original packaging that you received your order in, it makes it easier in case you need to return. PS. This ergonomic keyboard Im typing on... well, I hope I can get used to it. Im making a lot of typos. The buttons are smaller and shorter and more space between buttons than Im used to. Enter is very small. Peace out, Adrienn 33
