I have used this product for YEARS. I have one for every computer. 20 years back i developed repetitive strain injury on my right wrist from too much mouse work. I did two steps to correct. First I learned to "mouse" with my left hand. Second, I tried a bunch of "alternative mouse" products. In my opinion the Marble Mouse is the best! In my engineering job (which is computer intensive) I never developed wrist problems on my left wrist. Two comments: 1. every month or so i notice the ball has a small bit of resistance. I pull the ball out and pull lint off of the white "balls" which the track ball sits. It takes 10 seconds 2. I found a magic cure for my right arm: vibrating heating pad. I put big rubber bands around it so it wraps around my wrist. I massage my arm while I watch TV.

Logitech used to make some pretty good trackballs with some pretty good designs but not any more. Ive been using mouse alternatives for 25 years so I am quite familiar with my options. Pros: The ball is light weight and combined with their software gives you a pointer that can travel across your screen an incredible distance using very little hand effort. As opposed to Kensingtons ball which feels like it is made out of lead and will cause you hand pain after only a few hours of use. The buttons are easy to use and located well. I found that Kensingtons upper buttons were quite awkward. Cons: Scrolling is a complete fail on this. Do you see a scroll wheel? They have a universal scroll feature you can assign to a button. This soft scroll feature only works in my Firefox browser and Microsoft applications. However I dont use my personal computer for just boring office work. Zooming in and zooming out is a standard use of your non-existent scroll wheel in other applications but Logitechs scroll feature does not send the expected key codes to those applications so it will not work. I have had to code up my own zoom-in and zoom-out and assign it to keys so I can zoom in any direction in any application. Sounds like Logitech needs to hire better people. Kensington, the folks with the lead ball, have a scroll ring that works beautifully, where I dont have to write my own code to use their product. From my view point until Logitech can offer the better designed trackballs of old it looks like there are two choices. Either you get a Kensington with the lead ball which will work for some folks depending on what their hand problem is. Or you get the Logitech with a much better moving ball and just code up your own zooming processes. Why cant we have our cake and eat it too?

Make sure you use it for a minute to break it in to roll smoothly! I never used a scroll wheel, even if it is on a mouse Im not sure why, I find them too dizzying (trying to track the screen) instead of just page up/down so that biases me to loving this mouse. I hate how mouse cords catch and feel like moving a mouse around is inefficient. Its irritating to bump into things or have to do the pick up slide move when running out of space. I got this trackball initially god knows when because before optical mouses I hated dealing with mouse balls (on the bottom) gumming up and you have to clean it or smack it a bunch of times on the resting surface. Us old timey gamers know what Im talking about. Obviously we dont have to deal with that anymore. Regardless, even with new technology I have stayed faithful to this mouse. It is flawless. Responsive. And nonpainful. With all things its preference. My first one from before 2006 did crap out for a moment, but I opened it up and used compressed air, and it still works. The only reason I bought a new one is I brought that dinasaur to work since I have my own desk now. This new model has slight upgrades. The ball locks in place a little (the old one just cradled and could fall out if a hard wind blew). From experience you do have to clean it sometimes but if you dont clean your computer stuff at least once a week with daily use youre heading into gross territory.

I own two of these, one for each hand, and it takes some getting used to, but it is worth it. Its easy to abuse these and use these and scroll with one finger like a regular mouse, but if you use them with proper form and distribute the rolling motion of the ball evenly with all of your hand, instead of just one finger like a regular mouse scroll wheel, then it will alleviate hand/wrist pain. Thats also why I have one for each hand to distribute that scrolling, which helps when Im on a computer 8 hours a day.

I work across three monitor screens on a Mac every day and this giant marble mouse makes moving from screen to screen infinitely easier than any other type of mouse Ive used. I really did not know how much a difference it would make until it was recommended to me by a friend who does the same type of work. My hand does not get nearly as tired as it does when using my Magic Trackpad, and I feel as though I get my work done much faster as a result of being able to fly from screen to screen. Setting it up to scroll requires downloading software from the Logitech site, after which you can find the Logitech Control Center at the bottom of the System Prefs panel. A few choices under the Button and General tabs allow for easy customization of clicks and scrolls (Logitech calls this Cruise). One note is that scrolling (cruising) is actually page jumping, but you can control how much of any page you want to jump going both up and down web pages. As with any new control peripheral, it takes a while to get used to its unique behavior. This mouse was pretty easy. I am more than pleased with the precision and speed I get with this mouse.

I have been using Marble Mice for 15 years. This one is a dud- it wont be recognized by any USB2 or USB3 port I try to plug it into. But thats not why I gave it one star. I first thought the problem was with using a USB3 port, and I tried to contact Logitech Customer Support. EASILY THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT I HAVE DEALT WITH. They make you register to even ask a question. I included a bunch of technical information in my support request. ONE WEEK LATER I received an email response that was basically "fill out the purchase information and well talk." The purchase information I dont have because I bought it on Amazon! But the week delay is totally unacceptable. I will avoid purchasing any Logitech products in the future.

NO PAGE SCROLLING! First of all, there is no way to scroll down or up a document, spreadsheet, or webpage with this “mouse,” without having to place the cursor over the page scroll bar (Microsoft Windows) on the right-hand side of the page, and hold down the click button while moving the ball/marble. And then it’s very jerky. I bought this because its ambidextrous, and due to tendinitis issues (and upcoming surgery), I need to start mousing with my non-dominant hand. The Trackman necessitates MORE arm movement due to the lack of a scrolling feature. I obviously wasted my money and time ordering this. The product description for this item needs to warn a prospective buyer that there is no scroll button/wheel/bar on this thing. This is a shame because the shape, button placement, and trackball size and placement on this thing are great. With the exception of the lack of a scroll mechanism, the basic design of this is good. If only it had a scroll wheel of some sort above the ball! CHINESE-MADE CHEAP, INFERIOR QUALITY. The trackball mouse is/feels cheap in materials and workmanship. Shame on you Logitech. One of the reasons that I bought this instead of other products is that I have used your M570 wireless Trackball mouse for over three years, and the quality of that item is great! On this Trackman Marble, the rolling of the ball/marble is not smooth and feels like there is grit or debris in it. (There is none that I can see). The plastic edges of the “mouse” are sharp, and the plastic and buttons feel really cheap. I should have shelled out more money and ordered the “CST2545-5W(GL) (L-Trac Glow Red) USB Wired Ambidextrous High Performance Laser Ergonomic 5-Button Backlit Trackball (Black)” – Which has a scroll wheel and is made in the USA, not some Chinese-made POS. POOR/USELESS PRODUCT SUPPORT! The product support webpage and so-called user manual are completely useless. So I couldn’t figure out if there is a way around the lack of a scrolling mechanism, or some way to program the buttons to enable a scroll feature. I’m using this at work, and I don’t have the permissions to download software. If I actually thought that there was a way to use the “little buttons” to scroll, I might pursue that. AMAZON... YOUR PACKING SUCKED! The item arrived in a padded plastic “bag” that looked like it had been through the wringer. When I opened up the “bag,” the plastic bubble card packaging around the item was all crunched, split open, and broken. See the attached photos, which were taken as soon as I removed the item from the “bag,” and before I opened the bubble card. Amazingly, the item was not damaged as far as I can tell. Amazon, you need to ship items like this in boxes with proper packaging around them. Shame on you for skimping on the packing and being too lame to properly protect the products you sell. Also, without initiating a return, there is no way to complain about the packaging or some other problem or any way to provide feedback on Amazon’s website. That is convenient for Amazon management, I’m sure, but that is horrible customer service, and why I’m addressing this issue in the product review. This shopping experience has just been terrible: Shoddy shipping and an inferior item. WASTE OF MONEY!!!! And Amazon has obviously gotten too big and too successful to offer decent customer service any more. Other recent items/orders have arrived insufficiently packaged, but they werent so breakable, so I didnt raise the issue. Think about it Amazon... you didnt get this big without all of your customers. Dont bite the hand that feeds you. I am going to have to seriously reconsider my Prime membership and shop elsewhere.

* Doesnt require me to constantly move my arm (just use the huge ball with your fingers) * Can use with any hand (Im ambidextrous, so I switch which arm Im using depending on how tired one is) * Its ergonomic (I have big hands and find it to be comfortable. Though I used this type of mouse when I was still a teen and found it equally comforable). One thing to note is that when I first got it the ball would slightly "stick" every now and then, but I got it to "unstick" by simply moving the ball around randomly and rapidly. You might have to do this every now and then if you dont use it for awhile, but its really not the big of a deal considering all the advantages this mouse gives you. I highly recommend it!

I hoped this mouse would help out with a hand/wrist problem I have but it ended up making it worse. I didnt get to use the mouse much as a result so my rating is entirely based on ergonomics and my own subjective experience. It seems well made and worked great for the few minutes I tried it out but Ill have to try and sell it at a garage sale or something I guess because return postage was about half what the thing cost. If you have a physical problem that youre trying to fix by trying out this mouse Id find one in a brick and mortar store and try it out because if it doesnt work out for you you wont be out all that postage.

I felt it the instant I put my palm on the trackman. Everything about the product felt cheap. Knew immediately it was not the same. I have been buying the same Logitech Trackball Mouse for years (since about 1999!), and this isnt the same product that Ive been buying on Amazon using the same link from my previous orders. How rude! Im aghast. I found the original Logitech Trackball that I like (and have used for years) using this link: [https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005T406/ref=crt_ewc_title_oth_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3LGJL7ZJFVWSN]. Compare the "logi" logo on this item (see photo Ive posted) to the full "Logitech" logo of the original. If youre a long time user/admirer of this trackball mouse, you will realize as well that this "updated" or "newer" version feels cheap(er) than the original. Theres no comparison. This one is going back and Im ordering the original (again, and again, and again).
