Logitech M525 Wireless Mouse – Long 3 Year Battery Life, Ergonomic Shape for Right or Left Hand Use, Micro-Precision Scroll Wheel, and USB Unifying Receiver for Computers and Laptops, Black/Gray
An excellent wireless mouse with good battery life, but that is because it uses two of them. The USB receiver is stored in the same compartment as the batteries and if it gets bumped in transport the batteries may come loose. Overall I would say that its older sibling, the M510 is better if you carry around the mouse in a backpack. It is very responsive, though, and just like the M510 it can be used for gaming with very little delay and no tracking issues in a home environment. No wireless mouse is good for a competition, though, as it can have interference with lots of cell phones and other wireless things around. My main problem with this mouse is like what many others have said, the scroll wheel is made out of sub-par material and wears out quickly. The surface becomes slick and the center axis for the mouse wheel has so many feedback bumps that cause it to feel cheap when you rotate it.

I really want to like this mouse. Its comfortable, a great form-factor, has great battery life and the Unifying receiver and SetPoint software is fantastic. That being said, I can only give it three stars because of how atrocious the scroll wheel is for middle-clicking. If you do any, ANY sort of Mouse-3 button clicking, say, to close tabs in Chrome, or open a link in a new tab, you will feel the pain of mis-clicking ALL the time. The scrolling functionality is so sensitive that you will inadvertently scroll while trying to mouse-3 click on a link. Sometimes it takes me 5 or 6 attempts to open a link in a new tab. I now loathe having to use this mouse when I travel because every time I Mouse-3 there is a 50% chance I will mis-click. If you never use the mouse-3 button to open or close tabs in a browser, and if you never play video games that involve scrolling between weapons or zooming in or out/up or down, this mouse will probably satisfy your needs. If you expect to do any sort mouse-3 clicking, in a browser or in a video game, get something with a less sensitive scroll wheel.

I got a wireless when my wired Logitech wore out......and Im sorry I did. This is way to hyper-sensitive and I cant get it to precisely where Im trying to click to save my life. And I waited almost a month before writing this review thinking Id adjust. I realized its not me, its the mouse. Maybe hypersensitivity is something you may need or want but in my case its not. I just ordered two more "mice" to try out, one wired and one not from two different companies to try to find one that isnt so sensitive. I am using a mouse probably 1000 times an hour so this is now driving me insane. Again, the product is just fine, its the performance that is way too sensitive that Im complaining about. It may, however, be perfect for someone else!

Logitech is known for their outstanding products, and this mouse appears to be rugged, stylish, and very functional! Its a bit smaller than my M510 and not quite as "comfortable", but being compact, I expect it to feel a bit different than a full-size mouse. It definitely feels better than the M305 or M505 The stripes on the side add a touch of style, but they are "slick"... I would rather have the rubberized grip full-length of the sides, rather than in front and behind the stripe. Scroll wheel is very smooth and "light" touch... rather then feeling the "deep clicks" of the scroll on the M510 or M310, this one is very sensitive and can easily scroll "fast". The texture of the scroll wheel is very nice and grips well for vertical or horizontal scrolling. There are no "forward/back" buttons on the left side of the mouse, like the M510/710, but I knew that before ordering... no biggie, but youd think Logitech would make those standard on all but their most basic lines. Mouse is very responsive and works on pretty much any smooth surface (at least any Ive tried so far). Battery compartment is easy to open (release button on bottom of mouse), and the batteries (included, but not Duracell like normally included with Logitech devices) install easily. There is also a storage slot for the nano receiver... but most people will just leave it plugged into the computer/laptop. Syncing the device was a breeze... plugged in the receiver and after a few seconds, it recognized this mouse, as well as my M510 and K350 keyboard, which were both in the same room. Selection of devices to sync with was a breeze... click and go. All in all, a great mouse for travel with my laptop, and I wont have to worry about batteries for at least a couple of years, even if I forget to turn it off before tossing it into the bag. I would have preferred a satin finish, rather than the shiny/slick finish, but that is just a matter of preference... does not affect function and does not appear to show finger-prints like youd expect a shiny finish to do. UPDATE: Ive been using this mouse for nearly a year, and suddenly it stopped working. After some troubleshooting on my own, I found the Unified Receiver to be the fault. I contacted Logitech, and after speaking with them for only 3-4 minutes, they shipped out a new Unified Receiver! FANTASTIC customer service dept.! The new receiver arrived in a couple of days, and my mouse is happily scooting and scrolling along again!

This is a worthy successor to the older M325 wireless mouse. The fit is good on the hands, although I prefer the more satin-like finish on the M325 to the glossy finish on this. Responsiveness is smoother, more fluid than on its predecessor, and it works very well on a variety of surfaces. The higher responsiveness is especially nice on 4K displays, where you have greater precision across the much higher resolution landscape. The M525 seems to be missing the "reset" button thats on the bottom of the M325. I dont see it anywhere inside/beneath the battery cover either. Maybe its no longer needed. Logitech claims that the battery life on these is 3+ years. Since I bought this relatively early in 2018 I should then expect to use these batteries until 2021. Even if they crap out after *only* one year I would still consider that impressive. I read some complaints in other reviews regarding this mouse having a tendency to drag on surfaces. I have not experienced this at all, and in fact it moves just as smoothly on my mouse pad and wood desktop as the M325. Besides the glossy finish, and the color--which is more orange-red than on the M325--theres nothing to dislike about this mouse. Ill probably end up with a half dozen of these around my house soon. :)

I bought two new Mac minis for Christmas along with the Apple Magic mouse and the Apple Magic keyboard with numeric keypad for each computer. One of the Macs is for my daughter who is a college Freshman and the other Mac is for my home office where I work about 50% of the time. After using the Magic mouse and keyboard for about a week, I just could not get comfortable with the feel of the mouse. The ergonomics are just completely wrong. My daughter noticed the same thing. Perhaps we have just been spoiled by Logitechs great designs over the years. I returned the Magic mice and we now use the Logitech M525 which works perfectly with the Mac mini. Just plug in the usb chip and start using. Moreover, the Logitech M525 feels great and costs less than 1/2 of the Magic Mouse. If you buy a Mac Mini, definitely put the Logitech M525 on your list. You also might want to consider a MACALLY keyboard while you are at it!

When i ordered the M525, I was needing to replace my M305 because I had broken the nano receiver and it was no longer functioning properly. I really miss my M305 because it worked beautifully for years. So when i went to replace it, I immediately went back to the Logitech brand because I was so satisfied with my M305, which sadly would still work if I just had a radio receiver that would communicate with it. However, the moment the M525 came, I found the buttons to be very squishy and less quality than my M305. Within just a few short weeks the left click became very annoying and difficult to use as it would not respond even after many clicks. I finally took the mouse apart in order to see if there was a gum present or something inhibiting it from working and i only found more defects and cheapness to the quality of the mouse. After switching the primary keys on my computer in order to make the primary click be the right one, I have continued to use the M525 up until this review. I can no longer justify the use of the mouse as it is just too inconvenient and inconsistent in function. I have bought a new mouse today, but a Logitech, which I have respected as a company and enjoyed their products for years, was not the purchase I made. I went onto a new brand as Logitech no longer seems to be making quality mice.

Purchased to replace M505 mouse that worked great for 7+ years until I dropped it while on a hard tile floor :-(. The scroll wheel doesnt have big discrete clicks like the M505, instead you can flick the wheel and it goes flying down the web or document page. This was a bit odd at first, but now I really like it a lot. Other than that, it is very similar. Fits easily in the pocket of my mens kakis when walking with my laptop between meetings. Good range. The only downside (if you can call it that) is that darn near everyone in my office has one in black, so I bought mine navy to keep from getting them switched. I have a super-lightweight business laptop with very few USB ports, so I LOVE the unify and mirco-receiver feature. I have two K320 keyboards (one at work & one at home), an N305 number pad for data entry (gets infrequent use, but super handy when needed) and an M570 thumb-trackball that I am just starting to use to reduce carpal/tendonitis issues. Super nice to have that all work with just ONE dongle.

Either my unit is defective, or Logitech did not make it very compatible with the new Macbook Pros. The description says its compatible but it arrived in the mail today and I connected it and when I tell you that it was unusable due to skipping, sticking, freezing, jumping, lagging trust me. I am going to contact Logitech support to see if there are some settings that I need to change, but my current mouse (though worn down) works perfectly so it is not my computer or usb hub thats the problem. I prefer not to have to send this back so I hope Logitech tech support can get it working.

The battery life is excellent due to the mouse going into what seems to be a sleep-mode while no motion is detected, however, there is absolutely zero lag when it does detect motion. The cursor movement is silky smooth, as is the scroll wheel. In fact if you want, you can flick the scroll wheel and it will continue to rotate for a short while after your finger leaves it. Dont be alarmed when you dont see red light coming from the optical sensor, this device seems to operate using an infrared LED light source, which by definition consumes less energy than a visible LED, thus further contributing to the long battery life. The included universal receiver USB dongle is small and unobtrusive, it even stores within the battery compartment of the mouse for easy travel, and can be used to receive input from multiple Logitech peripherals.
