That scroll wheel seemed weird to me... metal? Why? To me, even in an FPS, I want the wheel to CLICK stiff, not SCROLL stiff. They fixed the wrong problem with mice that have too much play in the wheel.... make the ratching mechanism metal, not the wheel... to me, this is akin to having a door that squeaks, so you replaced the knob. Yes, its substantial, but it feels like it will wear out its governing mechanism very quickly, and it feels too substantial to me; its so heavy that if you pick the mouse up, you can feel the weight of the scrollwheel lean within the housing. A stiffer, more precise scrollwheel is great, but I dont think they achieved that by making the thing that scrolls heavier, rather than the thing that controls the rate at which it scrolls. That said, the mouse is the typical ergonomic feel of Logitechs larger gaming mice. If you dont like smooth, little, light mice, this feels great in the palm, has good click feel, and with the weights (I used all but two of them) installed, glides lovely over a good pad. I would love, love, love this mouse if it had a good, stiff scrollwheel that didnt feel like a gimmick. Unfortunately, I think thats exactly what that is, a gimmick that resulted in a cold, uneven click that shakes the whole housing, or when the break is disengaged, a cold, heavy whir thats far too eager for my taste. If youre sure you love the idea of a metal wheel, go for it. If youre like me, Id recommend continuing your search.

I read through some of the user reviews and watched some video reviews on this before I purchased. Ive owned many Logitech high-end gaming mice (and general Logitech mice) in the past. When my G700S of old was having double-click issues, I bought a Roccat Nyth. The bigger and wider nature of the mouse took a little getting used to (with the wide right-side grip on). I fell in love with the width and generally larger size to fit my larger hands. However, it has built up its share of dirt and grime in rather hard to reach places in the years Ive owned it. The interchangeable and customizable thumb buttons are a very nice feature, except for the fact that the blank covers wobble detracting from the otherwise solid feel of the mouse. I figured Id give Logitech another try bearing in mind the biggest nagging drawback to my old G700S was the wobbly and loud scroll wheel. My Nyth has a tactile bumpy scroll wheel that have grown to love a lot and its quiet. The G502 Heros is not quiet and it is still wobbly, just like my old G700S of old. In fact the only Logitech gaming mouse from past experience that didnt have a wobbly scroll wheel was the G7. The scroll wheel on the Hero is not only wobbly, but the tactile actuation force difference between left tilt and right tilt is significant. In that right tilt is so easy to accidentally hit whereas left tilt requires quite a bit more force to actuate. This scroll wheel feel has been mostly the same throughout the various mice Logitech has made that have featured a hyperscroll wheel (you click a switch to switch between smooth scrolling and notched scrolling). I guess in the intervening 3 years since Ive owned a Logitech gaming mouse, this has not changed. Their mouse wheel is still the same wobbly protrusion. Sadly, the scroll wheel tactility and overall polish (or lack thereof) is enough for me to decide to return it after only just picking this up from the Amazon locker only an hour ago. Well that and the lack of any additional grips, though I wont hold the grip against it. The Nyths interchangeable grips are featured in very few mice. For the $75 that this mouse was, I feel the mouse wheel could have been improved considering that theyve had this mouse wheel hyperscroll feature for nearly 10 years now... Going to give the Roccat Leadr a try considering how much i like my Nyth. If only the Nyth came in a wireless variant with more solid (less wobbly thumb buttons and covers/spacers). TLDR: -2 stars for wobbling scroll wheel. Right tilt too easy to trigger. Wheel scrolling in notched mode is very loud, as loud as my Kaihl brown keyboard switches.
