My last mouse pad was a Fellows gel, which was a little stiff but alright. After 6 years or so of daily use, it split and needed to be replaced. So, I check the reviews on Amazon, this thing is rated high so why not. As a few others have mentioned, this is a foam, not a gel, at least not in my universe. The pad part makes a crunchy noise when moving your hand around which is annoying. What manufacturer in their right mind would think this is acceptable? The pad is too flat and not high enough to be supportive. Ive used this for 5 hours as I type this, and it is going in the garbage can. My palm actually feels bad, which is a new one. I have a feeling the 5 star reviews are shills, they only use it for a little bit and not for work, they have never used a gel pad before, or magically, they have received something completely different than I.

The hand rest is sort of comfortable, but it doesnt conform to your hand shape. Reason: This is not gel. It has foam inside it. I didnt like the pad all that much, so I cut it open and well, there was foam inside it. Belkin, please dont lie that this is gel. Its not. I have uploaded two pictures of the pad. One of them shows the material inside the hand rest, which is clearly foam.

I was really disappointed with this, it dont seem to reduces wrist stress, in fact its not very comfortable to use. Im tempted to cut it open to see if there is actually gel inside ( it feels like a rock). Unfortunately, it also doesnt conform to the wrist at all, even when I press really hard. I deal with constant wrist strain and this wrist pad was really a let down. I actually have it turned upside down right now because the wrist portion was so uncomfortable. Update- I cut open the wrist rest since it wasnt doing me any good and posted pictures of whats inside, its definitely not gel!

Fell apart after having it only about six months! Cover has come off as well as the material inside is falling out. Would not recommend this at all!

Install Flash Player Avoid it... The edges of the product are uneven; it doesnt lay flat on a desk. The wrist pad doesnt offer much support and the dimpled shape is more uncomfortable than using no pad at all. Most important, and the reason this thing is now in a trash can... Every time you move your wrist (and I mean EVERY TIME, even slightly, not just when you rest your wrist on it or remove your wrist) it makes an annoying crinkly noise, similar to a balled up plastic bag. Is there a plastic in there? Im thinking thats what is... Im reminded of the cheap carnival store prizes stuffed with balled up plastic bags. This was too much to live with; after 45 minutes of typing I threw the thing across the room. This would be a great CIA torture device; it drives you slowly insane. Screw sleep deprivation and waterboarding, its time for the Belkin WaveRest! Every slight movement, ever inhalation, every exhalation makes it crinkle. Ive begun hearing it in my dreams. Im running down a hallway being chased by diaper-clad adult babies, then I open a door, and fall into a ball pit of rolled up plastic bags, while my father stares eating nachos with his mouth open. I wonder if Amazon sells Thorazine, and if its eligible for Prime shipping. Simply put, this thing fails at everything it attempts. What is a mouse pad? A flat thing to put your mouse on. The Belkin WaveRest? NOPE, not flat. What is the purpose of a wrist support? Added comfort when using the mouse. The Belkin WaveRest? NOPE, discomfort, and weird ear torture. How did this thing get past QC? It came in a box where it was held flat; when I removed it from the package the edges curled up like the brim of an old ballcap. Did nobody actually touch this product after it was completed? Is mine the only one with these issues? I feel like maybe someone got their lunch caught in the machine that makes these mouse pads and just said "screw it, nobody saw" - now Im resting my wrist on 80% gel, 20% Subway wrapper. Now Im looking forward to the accompanying Belkin WaveRest keyboard wrist support which I ordered at the same time but was mailed separately, and is due to arrive Monday. Should I bother opening it, or toss it directly into the trash can? Lemarchands shipping box, the Lament Configuration with branded packing tape... containing the official office accessory of cenobites of EVERY dimension.

I had high hopes for the Belkin WaveRest wrist pad given all of the 5 star reviews. But the product seemed very cheap when it arrived. The foam was already sinking in the middle of the wrist pad, much like a 10 year old one does. The gel was not squishy enough. And the worst part was the horrible sound this wrist pad made. It sounded like crumpling plastic all day long. I had to stop using it the first day because the noise was that bad. I decided to cut the product open to see what was causing the noise. Sure enough there is a thick plastic piece of film at the bottom that makes a lot of noise. See the customer photos.

Very disappointed with this mouse pad. I previously purchased both a gel keyboard and wrist pads from a Best Buy store and was very pleased. I know one of them was Belkin, not sure of the other one. They were squishy, yet firm & supportive and didnt move around when I moved my wrist/arm/hand. They lasted years (despite my young nieces poking a hole in the mouse pad to play with the gel). This one that I just received is very lightweight and does not contain gel. When I squeeze it or even rest my wrist on it, it pops like it has bubble wrapping in it. Should have heeded previous reviews that theirs had "foam" in it, but I thought surely if I buy one that "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" I would receive a good one. Alas, not so :-( It does not lay flat on my desk; the ends raise up depending on the movement of my hand. Also, the covering on the mouse pad is very uncomfortable, causing friction as I move my wrist around. I will be going to a physical store to buy a better quality replacement.

I got one of these in 2001 and still have it and when I needed a new one, I bought this without looking at the reviews because Im completely happy with the old one even 16 years later.....however, seems in those years, they chose to reengineer it for the worse. Not only is the gel pad hard, unlike the squishy goodness of the old one, but theyve stuck some sort of plastic bubble wrap sounding stuff underneath it. It crackles with every movement of your wrist! I figured I must have gotten a bad one and called Belkin, but the lady confirmed it was designed differently and thats how it is now.....why anyone would think a constantly crackling mouse pad is a good idea is beyond me. Returned it for a piddly 50 cent refund, but it was either that or throw it away. Wish Id read the bad reviews. Wish when youve got a good thing going, no one re-engineers it so badly theres not point in continuing to make it. But whats worse is, if you cant open it in store (which you cant with that sort of plastic casing), theres no way to know until youve ruined the package and taken it out. Sigh.

I had one of these pads for years and years, but its been wearing out for some time, and a worn spot right under my optical mouse has started to become a problem. So I decided it was time for a new gel mousepad, and I was thrilled to see the exact same pad was still available. Same company and everything. Except this pad is nothing like my old one. The support is very obviously not gel; its crinkly and hard, and uncomfortable on my wrist--and thats just in a few short minutes of using it. In short, Im deeply unsatisfied. I wish Id seen the other one-star reviews before I clicked buy on this item, because then I would have been warned that the product had changed. Seriously considering returning this because its not as advertised, and its not the product I expected I was getting. A pox on Belkin for letting their name stay on this shoddy product when the previous model was everything it needed to be. Quick update: I re-checked the packaging, and the packaging still clearly says this is a gel mat. But in comparing this to my old (good) pad, I noticed another important difference: The BELKIN lettering at the top is slightly larger on the new pad, and does not appear inside an oval outline. Im wondering if I, and the other one-stars, have been victims of a knock-off using Belkins packaging--maybe the good reviews still coming in are from people who got the right product. Im still considering the return, and would advise everyone to stay away from this until its a definite that theres no more chance of getting the garbage version I got.

Its advertized as "gel" pad and says "gel" pad on the package. Ive had two Belkin waverest gel pads and THIS is not gel. The pads that Ive had in the past that look and were made just like this, and both Belkins, had the feel in the wristpad of actual gel, this feels like that memory foam stuff or an imitation of it. I have carpel tunnel and so it wont take long to know if the foam in the pad will do as well as if it were actually gel, as advertised. Ill update this review if it proves to be as good as actual gel. EDIT 1/31/15. Belkin quality has gone downhill. I cant recommend this at all.
