Update 4/15/2018 - dropping rating to 1 star The OS for this camera doesnt appear to be keeping up with apps. OneDrive no longer works - so my photos are no longer being backed up automatically. I expect this trend to continue as apps continue to get updated. That significantly lowers the value of this camera - its only a few years old and its already out of date. ----- Im torn between giving this camera three or four stars. What I like about it is the 21x analog zoom. In fact, this is the main reason I purchased it. Phone cameras work pretty well, but with the analog zoom you can take a lot of pictures that just wouldnt be possible with a phone camera. It also has the full Android OS, and a number of great included camera apps. The picture taking app has 35MM type settings, so you have a lot of flexibility in how you take your pictures. And the very large screen is nice to work with. The single biggest con is the lens quality. As much money as you pay for this device - and since it serves almost entirely as a camera - you would think that Samsung would have given it a high quality lens. Most of the pictures I took were pretty good, but a number of pictures with the sun in them had quality issues that I didnt see in my Nokia phone cam. In the end, if I could have a digital camera with great camera qualities (including a better lens), a 21x zoom, but no OS other than transferring photos to other devices (via Wifi or card), for about the same price, I would purchase that over this camera. I havent done research to see if such a camera exists but - if I find one - I will post an update to this review with that information.
