The camera takes great photos, but the body is scratched. This should be called a "used" item. It states that it is certified to look and work like new. See the photos that show that is not true.

So this camera in the "fish mode" can add yellow to underwater pictures to try and take out the blue... cheaper underwater cameras cant do that so you end up with very blue pictures, it can do that extreme color balance OK, the only problem with the camera besides making sure all the plugs have their covers on correctly is that there isnt a lens cover so you have to be extremely careful you dont scratch the lens at all times. I keep the camera in an old sock in a hard cover little camera case. Underwater Im very very careful.

I bought this for my wife to use on a 15 day float thru Grand Canyon. Based on the reviews here and at DPreview, it sounded like a great option. I won’t fault the camera for image quality, since she was using it on Auto mode and most of the photos and videos turned out ok. It struggled a bit with correct exposure due to high contrast of bright sky and darker canyon interiors which is to be expected. But this camera gets one star for the simple reason that it’s sold as a rugged camera designed for the water and the yet the lens is so horriblely scratched after two weeks that I have to assume it’s not actually made from glass as advertised or some kind of cheap plastic. She says she was using her shirt to wipe water of the lens once in awhile and that’s it. Unless the sun was directly behind her many of the photos have noticeable haze. You shouldn’t have to baby a camera that’s designed to function in dirty and wet environments. I would not recommend this to someone who intends to use it in the way it’s advertised Update: sent the camera back to Olympus to have the lens cover replaced and have been quoted $130.26 for the service. Total rip off. I’d return this if I could. Will never buy an Olympus camera again.

After several years I switched from another tough camera. I had purchased four different models and had been using them for years, but wanted to try something else. I canyoneer and destroy cameras all the time. I had an older version of the Stylus Tough, so I tried this one. It takes amazing photos. If you shoot Raw format, you have all the information in the highlights and shadows to easily color correct the image. The old camera would just make the sky white with no information to color correct it. As you can see from the photo I posted there is a pretty good contrast between the light and the dark and there is almost no 100% white. The only two negatives I have is that Olympus puts OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA in the description and it has to be manually removed before uploading. If not, thatll be your caption. And secondly, Olympus Raw format is not supported by Apple Photos so you have to open them up in Adobe Lightroom.

I was getting this to replace a similar rugged camera from 6 years ago that had a cracked back screen. For being 6 years later, the image quality is basically the same. To me, this is overpriced for what is basically a 5+ year old camera in terms of image quality. It is not a bad camera, I just expect more out of my camera especially when my waterproof cell phone can take better pictures than this.
