When it comes to any product the first thing is to state wheat are you going to do with it. I love to view images on large 1920 x 1080 27" monitor, at full screen mode. I bother me to see other things on the screen like bars and menus of the computer / browser. So for me the paper print quality of a camera is completely irrelevant. I also love things from either very far or very close... I love strong vivid colors and that the image is painfully sharp. And so, after changing few factory defaults of the P900 in its menus, it takes images the way I like. I have chosen the Vivid mode in picture control, and enhanced by a click the sharpness, contrast and saturation. In the ISO department I chosen Auto 100-400. The Noise reduction is set to Low - the P900 does very good job keeping clear images, by far better than the Canon SX60 I had before, Even at ISO400 you get very clean images. Than I set the resolution to 1920x1080 so it 100% to monitor resolution and not fitting needed, no loss details. That does the trick for me. I already learn how to hold tight when shoot zooms. Results are fantastic. True, this camera is plastic made, fill flex under pressure, control are moving little to lose to my taste, but who care? Were here for great images and I believe most people are getting new gadget every 2-3 years anyhow, so long as the P900 leave and function for the next 2 years - Im good.

This is the BEST camera I have ever owned. We were at the Arches National Park. I shot a picture of the full moon that night and had to zoom out a little to get the entire moon. The zoom is just so fantastic on this thing. From a tiny spider to a moon. The night pictures are as great as the daytime pictures. Its clarity is wonderful also. My camera friends are jealous because they have to whip out all of their lenses where I just zoom and shoot. If I could give this a 10 star, I would!

I wanted to buy this camera solely for the 2000mm equivalent lens (for the price of the entire camera, you cant come anywhere close with a DSLR lens). But I had several concerns. These included: 1) Multiple bad reviews indicating poor quality control (out of the box issues with things not working correctly or at all). 2) Amazon.coms ominous “All sales final. Sold as is.” legal disclaimer. 3) The cameras small sensor size (1/2.3”) as compared to my trusty Canon EOS 60D. Despite all these reservations, I threw caution to the wind and made the purchase. As soon as I received the camera and had fully charged the battery, I started testing it. After several days of testing, I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps Nikon has started to address their quality control issues or maybe I just got lucky with my camera, but everything seemed to work well. I was also surprised at the image quality. I didnt expect DSLR quality images (nor did I receive them) but the images I did get are much better than I had expected considering the size of the sensor. This camera will never replace my DSLR but it is a great addition to my photographic arsenal. Its a fun grab and go camera with an amazing zoom and better than expected image quality.

Greetings Reviewer, I never thought I would like another camera like my former Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR, which I had to replace due to a terminal drop from a 6 foot height. I shopped extensively to find an equivalent digital camera, which I found in the Nikon Coolpix P900. Fantastic camera!! Sure, the YouTube reviewers PRAISE the P900 for its 83x zoom feature, but the proof is in taking many photographs during a trip. The YouTube reviews have mentioned the P900 camera does not perform well in low lighting, but I have not noticed this in the P900. I am pleased with the photo results in low lighting. Also mentioned in the reviews, the P900 camera is large and weighs more than your average digital camera, so it can be taxing when carrying the P900 all day, but that is why they made neck straps. PROs I like the grip and where the control buttons are located. I like the zoom how it pulls in objects from great distance. The camera comes with a one 1850mAh battery, but I recommend purchasing the two 2600mAh battery with AC-DC charger set, as the higher mAh will take about 500 shots per charge. You can set to alternate between the back monitor (for general shots is good) and the eye view monitor (for distance shootings for more precise focus), to save on battery power. I like the wide range of video options from 25-450 fps, so I can do standard, fast motion or slow motion videos. Nice! I also purchased the 67mm Vivtar Professional Goja lens filters and macro lens from 2x-10x, which helps protect the lens and helps with bright sunsets. I bought the wireless control for the Nikon by Foto&Tech, so I can take remote shots with me being in the photo with the family. I understand the P900 can be remotely controlled by using your WiFi mobile cell phone by adding a Nikon app. There are many more features offered on the P900, but that will take time and opportunities to utilize in recording stills and video images. CONs Having said that the buttons are well placed, I do have an issue with the placement between the Video button above and the WiFi button below it. I have on several occasions accidently pushed the WiFi button (which sets the WiFi search going) vs intending to press the Video button above. Its a bit frustrating, but given time I will train my thumb to know which button is for video. Outside of this issue, I am good to go take photos. I wish you well on your photo adventures.

A must have for the outdoor enthusiasts easy to carry, rugged build that can standup to dust, pet hair and hotcold. I have super glued (gel) the rubber grips back down but other than that all is good. I wanted a big zoom camera to photo wild life, mostly birds, and have been very satisfied. I mostly shoot hand held and the vibration control is excellent a big plus for the walker/hiker. With that said i boost up the sutter speed to help with camera shake but not a must do. Every function of the p900 seamlessly works with my Mac Book , iPhone and Photos/ iMovie. I can use wifi in the field or coffee shop and share pictures...note this does not work with Raw so i am good with a jpeg only camera.... Like the GPS function never turn it off ,helps keep a good satellite connection and as time goes on you cant forget where a shoot was taken when the pic is logged into Photos. The graphics of GPS linked to a picture is the same whether the photo was taken by iPhone or p900 you have to read the description to know what camera was used. I like the electronic lcd as you make custom justments from the shooting menu a live histogram is displayed and the exposer you see is just what the picture will look like it really helps exposer setup. Great for landscape , slower moving objects and portrait... not great for faster moving objects. There is an FN button on the top of the camera you push that and you can surf the shooting menu on the lcd which allows you to charge to custom settings quickly the p900 is very friendly to the user. Last but not least any customization you do will showup on the lcd as some sort of symbol so no matter how much button pushing you do you can keep track and return to default settings easily. A fun camera. As long as you have good sunlight and your not doing sports events or doing just about any evening events (basically the holidays and winter birthdays) you will like this camera. Personally i bought a DSLR to back fill the holes that the p900 has. With that said if you want great zoom and like getting great wild life shots this is for you.

Having just returned from a trip to Colorado where I used this camera extensively in Rocky Mtn National Park, I can state that I absolutely love it. For my purposes, there couldnt have been a better choice. I love to photograph beautiful scenery and wildlife, and this camera worked extremely well. My co-workers were very impressed with the photographs that I took, so much so that two of them are also interested in buying this camera. For action shots, I cant say what it will do, because the most action I saw was a herd of bighorn sheep grazing a mountainside, a moose wading and eating in a shallow lake, deer and elk that were mostly grazing and some baby great horned owls in their nest with heads turning back and forth. I didnt buy it to take action shots. As for the WiFi capability, meh. I didnt buy it for that either and its a darn good thing, because I couldnt ever get that to work. A lot of people were complaining on the app store about the app not working since they did an update, so maybe thats the problem, and it will hopefully be resolved for those who like to share photos via Facebook. I dont do that anyway. I mainly wanted a camera that had a powerful zoom and this one has it. I wanted one that didnt force me to haul around a case full of lenses, and this one fits that bill as well. It does everything that I need it to do. If it doesnt hold up, or if I find things about it that I dont like, Ill update later. For now, Im totally pleased.

One is not going to get top picture quality with any super-zoom camera, but this one delivers really nice photos. It is a bit heavy, but I feel that reflects its quality. Seems very sturdy. With a comfortable strap, I am having no problem carrying it around. (I ditched quickly the included strap.) The features are easy to use and, best of all, excellent telephoto capabilities without having to haul around a forklift to raise the heavy, heavy zoom lenses that attach to my 35mm. I tried out a 200-500 mm lens and it was only for the very strong and very dedicated! Note: I rejected the Coolpix P1000 for the very reason I did not keep the zoom telephoto lens. Photography to me should be fun, and hauling around a lot of weight is not convenient or fun. This P900 is exactly what I needed.

Love the quality, ease of use, and the zoom is sick!! So many peeps ask me how $$$$ it is... the zoom alone is so worth it. You can also turn on the wifi on cam and use the nikon app to take pictures remotely, and zoom in and out focus remotely. Also can transfer pix to your phone ipad while out on location and then upload them to Facebook or Instagram from your device! So cool. These pics are the proof of the crazy amazing zoom. Still have yet to try with tripod. the circled bits are where the next pic is fully zoomed in on. amazing!!

I LOVE THIS CAMERA ! I was looking for a zoom camera which would be easy to carry with me hiking and I scored with this purchase. It is light enough not to be a burden to carry and does everything I could hope for ( and many features I am still discovering after 6 months) The zoom is AMAZING ! I totally recommend this camera to an amateur like me who is looking for a lot of camera for a reasonable price. The attached pictures show the tree where the eagle was sitting across the river ( sorry it is sideways) and the eagle zoomed in without the use of a tripod.

This is my first camera. I have had it for 8 weeks now. Previously I took pix with the iPod 5 and instamatics. I have had no camera/photo courses. I did get Alexander Whites book Photographers Guide to the Nikon Coolpix P900, and a couple books from the Snapshots to Great Shots series. This camera is a dream for a beginner! It is a dream for someone who doesnt need raw format or huge sensors, doesnt want to spend thousands (are you really gonna NEED that much camera and lens?), and still wants versatility and extraordinary potential. The camera was easy to use from day one. The first thing I did was use it on fully automatic. 24 hours later stopped using auto and started exploring the possibilities. There IS a learning curve if you have never used a camera with the features of a DSLR, or if you have never used a Nikon. I am enjoying the learning. I have a long, long way to go. The point is you have instant access and some many places to go with this camera. It has not failed to do ANYTHING I asked it to do within reason. It has enough intelligence built in to help me when I am puzzled about what to do. Ill let the camera make a decision about metering, or aperture, or shutter speed, or white balance, etc, and then modify it to my liking. I dont always have to start from ground zero. With eight weeks of experience, that makes a huge difference!!!! I take it everywhere I go. So far I have only used it hand held, and half of the pictures you will see attached I took out the window of my car. You do not have to be a camera or a tech wizard to use this device. It is pretty intuitive, and can be set to give quick access to menu items that might feel buried. And, oh yeah, if you want to catch pix of the creatures around you...that 2000 mm lens is mind blowing. It will take some work to really learn to use it, but wow, youll love it.
