Purchased for my elderly mother after her old camera died. Tried to find one within $125-$150 range. Ive owned two other Canon compact cameras so I expected the quality would be satisfactory for the price. Pros: - Cost - 20 megapixels (over kill) - Good image quality - Large rear LCD screen (her main request as her old cameras was very tiny) - Compact - Features her other camera didnt have (face recognition focus, simple buttons, video) Cons: - If youve read other reviews, many complain about the lack of material included in the box. It comes in small brown box, no SD card, no USB cord, and no user manual (only a tiny "introduction" card). - Did I mention no SD card? Seriously? They couldnt toss in a cheap-o 4 or 8 GB SD card? What do those cost now, $2?? - NO USB CORD!! Again, how can you not include a simple connection cord? The package is incomplete without the SD card and cord. - AUTO feature is, in my opinion, not helpful. It keeps trying to change the camera settings while youre setting up a shot. My suggestion, turn it off and keep the camera on "Program / P" mode. Learn to use your cameras settings and be a better photographer. Know when to use the FLASH and utilize that MACRO button! - Battery took some effort to snap in. The latch needs to be opened a bit before installing. She hasnt been using it for very long but says she likes it, especially the large rear screen. I need to give her a USB card reader so she can upload the images to her computer. Hoping the battery life is better than my other Canons. The price is probably right where it should be. Its not fancy. Guessing the quality will be adequate for 4x6 & 5x7 prints. Ill add an update in a month or two.

You might think Im kidding, but Im dead serious. We bought four of these cameras to attach to our two near-space photography balloons to capture the shadow of the moon on the earth during the solar eclipse. (Some warming devices were required for them to function at cold temperatures.) These cameras floated up to ~90,000ft altitude. We lost GPS signal on the balloons and only managed to recover one. We got some spectacular images from those cameras, and we considered the other balloon a loss. Weeks go by, and a farmer in rural Kentucky finds the payload from our second balloon when it goes through their combine. The camera was (as you might expect) damaged, but had still protected the SD card enough that we got our pictures safe and sound. We asked way more of this camera than it ever was designed for, and it did not disappoint. Thumbs up from the entire 2017 MERLAB Totaliteam balloon mission squad.

This is a small compact unit but great features. I wanted something that was essentially point and shoot. I like the removeable memory card to transfer pictures and the lithium battery to get away from disposable batteries.

Takes pix of pets and no gold glowing eyes!!! Glad I found this item first at an estate sale. Then brand new on Amazon! Easy to set up and figure out! Great indoor pix with flash! Cell phones just cant get the job done.

Its a great little camera to keep in my purse and travel with when I dont want to lug around my Canon Rebel. I was kind of expecting more from Canon, Cant say Im super impressed. But overall not a bad camera.

Not a bad camera. Takes too long to capture an image and do not expect to be quick with pictures as this is super slow from picture to picture. It constantly takes blurred pictures.

I have not used it much but the photos look clear. It is so close to my old one that I did not have to learn to use it. Looking forward to many pictures.

I honestly expected more from such a high-pixel camera, even at this pricepoint. I bought this as a replacement for a previous model ELPH that I had misplaced, and this does not do as good a job. I have gone back to a larger 16x-zoom Canon digital with only 6 megapixels. It does a much better job.

I bought this camera as a gift for my mother. It came packaged in the official Canon box, everything was sealed. It takes wonderful pictures, and it sure can withstand a beating. If youre looking for a beginners camera, but you want a high quality camera, or you just want a basic point and shoot that takes lovely pictures, look no further. This camera is amazing.

Cant seem to go wrong with these Canon Powershots. Had lost my older one of 5 years when it slipped out of my hand while back-packing. This is my replacement....Love It. Thank You Canon.
