A little loud but very sharp! Update 12/26/17: it loses focus instantly without me touching anything and only works manually, now. And, it’s too late to return to Amazon! I am very disappointed. I suppose, you get what you pay for.

The lens has some really strange focusing issues. It will on its own go out of focus. It doesnt keep focus after you release the shutter. There are also times when the focus mechanism just wont work and you have to take the lens off the camera and put it back on. When you do get an in focus shot, the image quality inst bad though. I ended up returning because of the focusing issue.

PROS: significant cost-savings vs the genuine Canon product that it mimics; if you are using a crop-sensord DSLR, this lens will mimic the end-result that a 50mm lens would on a full-frame DSLR. CONS: lens does NOT have full functionality on 35mm FILM bodies ... specifically, it will ONLY work in F2.0. In any other aperture setting, the camera will trigger an error message, This severely limits what it can do, but it is still useful in low-light conditions. Lastly, the focus motor is noisy enough that if you use this lens for video in auto-focus, youll have motor noise in your audio. I use it almost exclusively for low-light conditions on a Canon EOS 10S.

*For the cost* (very important), this lens does everything youd need a cheap, quick 35 f/2 to do. Its build quality and feel are surprisingly nice. The focus ring is satisfyingly tactile - smooth and large enough for my fingers to grasp easily and well, unlike my nikkor D lenses. Its not the widest aperture for a 35, but for less than 100 dollars, you get functionality and value. We use this lens to film vlogs indoors with inexpensive studio lighting and it works well enough for our needs. It is soft at f2 well into the edges and is difficult to nail focus with. The AF is quite slow, but seems accurate enough. I intend to try this lens for astrophotography, but do not have high hopes due to that lack of sharpness at f2, but Ill remain open minded until I test that out. Stopped down to f/2.8 though, clarity and sharpness improve considerably. We shoot our indoor vlogs at f3.2 for that extra depth of field, but wouldnt have an issue going down to 2.8 if needed and the improved sharpness is nice at 3.2. I included two files - one full size image of a tree section unedited at f/2 (1/4000th of a second to rule out motion blur) and a cropped in version of that file to show poor sharpness right in the center of the image. The lens is a nice size. Slightly bigger than my nikkor 50mm, but smaller than my Rokinon 85mm. It works well with my Nikon D500 and when focus is on where you need it, images do look good. It also focuses close enough for near-macro photography, so thats nice. compared to other more expensive 35s out there, this is crap, but those lenses are hundreds and hundreds of dollars more in cost. Thats why I give this a 4/5. Its a great lens to get the feel of a 35mm lens under your belt, but I would not recommend for pro use at all. + Good build Good Value Close Focus - Slow AF Not sharp at f/2

I bought this lens for indoor shoots when I dont have the room to get the shot I want with my 50mm. This is significantly cheaper than the Canon version which made it more attractive. The images I get with this lens are great, the only difference I notice with this vs my Canon lenses is that the focusing is slightly slower and a lot louder. Otherwise, great buy!

This a lens that offers you exactly what you paid for. During day time the lens works perfectly without any issues. The device autofocus very quickly. At night time the story is other. The lens fails to autofocus in low light situations. You have to go on manual mode when this happens. The only issue I noticed is that after taking several pictures the camera displays "lens not attached". I dont know if it is because of usage or some compability issue which it resolves by switching off and on the camera body. I use it on a Nikon D3400.

This is my first 35mm Lens. I bought it with the YONGNUO YN50mm lens ( YONGNUO YN50mm F1.8 Standard Prime Lens Large Aperture Auto Manual Focus AF MF for Nikon DSLR Cameras ) So far I am very impressed with it. It does feel a bit cheap and it is a bit noisey but if youre shooting on a crop sensor camera and dont want to drop a couple of hundred bucks for a nice Nikon 35mm you cant beat the price. Im not quite at the point where I can speak to its over all quality vs. the "Real Deal" but its worked well thus far and the reviews Ive seen seem to say the same.

So I read the reviews and saw that the autofocus seemed very "loud", that is the only negative thing I can say. It really doesnt bother me though. This lens is like a nikon without the price tag. I bought it for my nikon D7200 It went on smoothly, works perfectly and the f/stop is nice. Helped me accomplish what I was trying for. I basically always have this on my camera.

For the price, its a great deal. The only issue I had was sometimes the f stop would say "0". I would have to power off and turn back on. Also Lightroom cant automatically find the lens profile. But other than that It works!
