This is a great tool for Tamrons latest SP and compatible lenses. I recently found that my brand new 70-200mm G2 lens was out of calibration, even after sending out for service from Tamron. A simple in-camera adjustment wouldve affected all focal lengths, but with the Tap-In-Console I can calibrate focus at 4 different focal lengths for granular control. Of course, a good focal calibration tool is a good investment as well, but you could just as easily fine tune without it. Ive since learned that if you couple a Tamron teleconverter with a compatible lens, you should get a separate set of calibration focal lengths, in essence giving you calibration for your lens both with and without the teleconverter. Ive not yet tried this, but its a great thought by the designers to include that feature. My only complaints are that the device did not come with explicit notes that certain lenses were not compatible immediately. I had to discover for myself that the particular serial # for my 35mm SP lens did not allow it to be updated, but a quick trip to Tamron services rectified that with a firmware update. Also, the software that utilizes this device could use some work to make things more user-friendly without having to first consult a manual for operation. And finally, the console itself can sometimes be put onto the lens mount the wrong way--the little registration mark doesnt seem to line up with the mark on the lens, so sometimes its a game to hunt for the right fit.

I wish it was included with the lenses, but really you only need one. While its nice to be able to update firmware and customize the controls on Tamron Lenses, the real strength of this is being able to adjust the autofocus fine-tuning on a Tamron Lens by insert corrections at multiple focal lengths and focus distances. I tried using the cameras internal single-value correction for a lens, but is simply doesnt compare to being able to enter a series of a dozen correction factors across the focal length and focal distance ranges for the lens. The results are tack sharp.

Install the software, plug the tap-in to the computer, mine had a firmware update for the tap-in that I had to run first, attach the tap-in to your lens. As soon as you attach the lens you will see the next screen. I clicked on firmware update and it told me there are no updates for my lens I had attached 100-400mm. I have included pics of what the focus adjuster, focus limiter, and miscellaneous tabs each look like for the 2 lenses I attached so see difference. If it is grayed out it is not for that lens. I went from my 100-400m to 90mm macro without closing the program it recognized the lens change and recognized there was a firmware update for the second lens I attached 90mm f 2.8 macro. While updating the blue LED blinks. I am not making lens adjustments just yet. This is a tool that you really dont want to be waiting for on shipping when you need or want it. Just have one on hand if your lens is compatible to use a tap in. For some reason my review is being rejected saying my review is inappropriate so I will attach screen shots later after text of this posts.

I needed to adjust my Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2 due to front focus issue on my D750. Works great. Very easy to use. I like that you can save profiles for the adjustments. On my D610 the 70-200 G2 doesnt need any adjustment so I can easily use the app and reset to factory, then when I use it on the D750, I can apply prior adjustment. But you can also adjust the manual focusing senstivity and focus limiter too. Only negative thing I can say is it make me want to buy more of Tamron lens that use the Tap-In console.

After a lot of trail and error trying to find the settings that would work for my 150-600 G2 my lens is now producing some awesome pictures. Looked a Youtube for tips on this tap on console helped some. It does take some time ( it did for me) but well worth the purchase.

Coolest new gadget! It works great once you download the free app. You can really unleash the full potential of Tamrons new G2 series lenses with this.

Works even better than expected. I thought I was only able to program over a range of focal lengths, but it also includes focus adjustment for subject distance per focal length. Hooked up without any issue to both of my Tamron lenses for Nikon. Now if some enterprising person could hack the firmware and get this thing to talk to genuine nikon lenses that would be the hotness.

So nice to be able to calibrate your own lenses! Firmware update was a success. Great product. I was so frustrated with so many objects being just a little out of focus. After about 3 attempts at calibration it was a success (outdoors with plenty of light). Highly recommend purchasing this!

It came really fast. It does the job. I fixed a back focus issue on my Tamron 2470 f2.8 G2. On my D750. Also easily updated the firmware to use it on my Z6.
