A good deal and a useful lens if you learn how to use it. Look at the price. Now look at the focal range. There are always compromises with zoom lenses and there are with this one, however, you can take some very fine photos with this lens but you have to do more than point and shoot. Its not good for low light - the brighter the better! Dont expect sharp photos at the extreme ends if you shoot wide open, crank it down several F-stops and everything will sharpen. Ive included two photos at 200mm, 100%, one F6 and one F13. At 18 mm, decreasing the aperture doesnt improve sharpness as much. By 24mm, images are pretty sharp at wider apertures and remain so until you get to the upper ranges. Ive had no problems with autofocus or VC, all the sample photos were taken hand held with both engaged. Fit and finsh are acceptable, mine came with a 6yr warranty. Its light weight makes it ideal for travel and hiking. Four stars for value and is not meant to imply that this is the equal to lenses costing hundreds or thousands of dollars more, but within its class of economical budget lenses for hobby photographers, this offers a lot of bang for the buck.

I have a Canon SL1 purchased a few years ago. Like most people I take most all my photos outdoors, visit National Parks. I was tired of carrying a bag full of lens and wanted to get my camera bag down to two lens. First let me say Im not a professional photographer but love taking great photos. My goal was to find a light all in one lens, close up and zoom. Up to this point my Canon 55-250mm was my prime lens. Then a friend told me about a newer version of Tamron lens, the 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di ll VC. I loved the 18mm for close ups and 200mm would be plenty for zooming in. It weighted 1.19 lbs compared to my Canon 55-250mm at 0.83 lbs. Not much different until I took some photos. I was really impress and pleased with its performance especially when getting close up photos, sweet. I carry three lens in my bag now, I know I said I wanted only two, my nifty 50 and 24mm pancake lens. If Im in the city I use my nifty 50 during the daytime and my 24mm in low light conditions. BIG TIP: be sure your firmware on your Canon camera is up to date or the Tamron may struggle communicating with your Canon. Easy and free to update firmware. Call Canon at 1-800-652-2666, theyre super.

I was geeked to get the Tamron 18-200mm lenses for my Canon Rebel 5ti camera. The other reviews had me convinced for the price it was quite a deal, for a good versatile lenses that would keep me from having to constantly switch out lenses. Well, sadly, this one proves -- you get what you pay for. I have been doing photography for the better part of a decade. Every photo I shot was absolutely BLURRY. Out of a practice round of several hundred photos I got NOT A SINGLE crisp, clear photo. What a disappointment. You can literally see the glass lenses inside physically moving as you try to adjust the focus. NOT worth the money, time, nor disappointment. Stick with the brands.

A great addition to my camera lenses!! I love that I dont have to keep changing my lenses for up close to distant shots all the time. This works great for taking flowers, birds & animal pictures.A must have for these kinds of picture taking. Im going to have fun taking all kinds of bird pictures with this great lens! The auto-focus & anti-shake features work great for my Canon Rebel EOS SL1 camera!! This is really a great lens for the price. Works great for the beginner to intermediate photographer alike. Good luck!

This is an excellent lens at a very modest price. It cost only a few dollars more than a similar used one made by a competitor which promptly revealed why it no longer belonged to the original owner. Its specifications are also equal to and in some areas greater than those of a well known name brand in the same category with a $400 greater price tag. I use the term "solid" to describe its performance. It focuses quickly and quietly. If I consider another lens in the future Tamron will certainly be one brand that I will consider.

I have a lot of very expensive lenses but I bought this because I was going on a trip and needed one lens that I didnt care if it took a beating. I am very pleasantly surprised bu this lens for one reason: the stabilization is crazy good. First off, the images themselves are kind of soft and the colors arent that great, but that is to be expected of a budget lens. Im giving this thing 5 stars solely for the the stabilization... holy cow is it good. I was worried that the small aperture would make this lens terrible in low light, but with VC turned on I kid you not I can hand hold a photo at 2 seconds or more if Im steady. I cant do that on any of my expensive canon glass.

This is a really good lens. The zoom motor is super quiet. My old one died and I needed a new one fast for the Atlantic City Air Show. As you can see from the pics, It has good focus and once it locks on it is really sharp. The only reason I with held a star was it is a little slow in acquiring focus. It take about one second for it to aquire the subject. Not bad for photographing a tree, a big problem when youre trying to get a shot of two jets travelling at each other at 600 MPH. I needed a lens and this was the only one available next day. I am not sorry I purchased this lens.

Tamron Lens Fixed Zoom 18-200mm Di II VC All-in-One Zoom for Canon The Tamron Lens is a great all-purpose lens for photography enthusiasts. Its built for APS-C (crop sensor) EF-mount cameras (Canon) and can be used for a variety of photographic applications from portraits to landscapes. Its not the fastest lens out there, with an f/3.5-6.3 aperture but it delivers sharp images and will cut down on the number of lenses youll carry - especially helpful if you plan on taking this out for a vacation. Very simply, if youre looking for great range of focal lengths, compatible with the cameras auto-focusing system, and has some image stabilization its really difficult to pass up on the Tamron 18-200mm Di VC.

I bought this lens looking for an all purpose option at times. I am very pleased with what i can do with this lens at different events. It allows me to travel with one lens and still be able to get great shots. Its flexibility in range is great without compromising quality pics. HIghly recommend this for beginners and intermediate photographer. And if you just want to be a great "picture taker" this is your lens ..Canon Rebel

This is a great all parties lens. I have an older Canon model and while this is an aftermarket product, it works perfectly. I cannot afford the Canon brand of lenses and I found that Tamron and Sigma make great alternatives. This is a great all purpose lens. The lens is not super but sufficient. It is great for portrait photography.
