On the a6300, having used the Metabones and Commlite adapters, this thing is far, far better. While it only officially supports Sigma EF mount lenses, I have found that a number of Canon lenses work as well (however, you will only have AF-S and AF-C modes). For example, the Canon 50mm 1.4 USM, which doesnt work at all on the Metabones or Commlite, works on the MC-11 quite well. You can even get a degree of focus tracking by setting your shot priority to AF and choosing AF-C (Wide seems to work best). No, its not what youd get from a Sony native lens, but its quite usable. My Canon 70-300mm IS USM takes comparable images, and performs almost as well in AF as the Sony G 70-300mm. Certainly there are reasons to buy the Sony, but for most, this would an effective bridge. On supported lenses like the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary, I have to say its almost like using a native lens. I say almost because under normal shooting conditions I wouldnt be able to tell the difference; some native lenses perform far worse, some better. I have tested the adapter with these non-Sigma lenses (assuming AF-S or AF-C mode) - Canon 24mm IS USM - Works Canon 40mm STM - Works Canon 50mm 1.4 USM - Works Canon 18-135 IS USM - Does Not Work Properly Canon 70-300mm IS USM - Works Canon 75-300mm IS USM - Does Not Work Properly Sigma 150-600mm Cont - Feels like a native lens. Quick update - I shot a lot of pics at the Indy 500 this weekend using the a6300 and the Sigma 150-600mm Cont. The combination performed quite well, but you really have to know your AF modes to get the best performance. The only negative I can think of is that it doesnt support EF-S lenses, which is a shame and the only reason I have to hang onto my Commlite adapter. PS - If this review helped, or if youre just bored and enjoy clicking things - could I trouble you for a "Yes" vote below?

fantastic solution if You have canon AF lenses and want to use them with Sony A7II and III. I happened to own/use Canon 5D mark IV with Sony A7II and III Full Frame bodies. As far as Canon glass I own 24-70mm F2.8 II L, 70-200mm f2.8 IS L, 50mm f1.8 STM, 85mm f1.8, 100mm f2.8 L macro and all of them work pretty much like native Sony glass would as i own bunch of Sony/Zeiss native ones so i could compare. Dont even hesitate, get it and use Your Canon glass without limitations.

This works as described. I have a Sony A6500 and I have previously purchased a Fotodiox adapter, and that only worked on one of my lenses. After I returned that one I was deciding between the Sigma MC11 and Metabones. At $150 cheaper I decided to give Sigma a try first. The Sigma MC11 work for all my Canon branded lenses, including: EF85/1.8 EF35/1.4 EF70-200/4 EF24-70/2.8 and they all focuses very fast in both AF-S and AF-C modes. However, it doesnt work with my old Tamron 17-35/2.8-4 and nor does it work well with my old NEX5N, which did focus with Canon lens but very very slowly. Update 2017 Aug 17: Recently I have been using the adapter on my EF85/1.8 for some indoor sports on very dim venue. Probably one of the toughest condition for AF systems. (typical setting is f/2, 1/500, ISO8000) and the focusing speed and accuracy was excellent. I have not had a new Canon body for 10 yrs (had a 1Dmk3 before) and I now appreciate the advancement in AF technology in the past 10 yrs.

I had to return this because it didnt work with my Sigma lens at all. I tested a rented mc-11 adapter with my Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM lens (version before the Art series). It worked perfectly, so I ordered on because I love that 50mm lens. The one I received came with the latest firmware and it didnt even recognize my lens. I couldnt AF or even change the aperture. I contacted Sigma and told them all of this and asked if I could get the old firmware to install since the rental model I tested worked perfectly. They outright refused and said they dont support that lens....even though the older firmware works flawlessly with the adapter. I love sigma lenses, but after their handling of this and know firmware updates are a big thing on all their current lenses, I dont think I will be able to buy their lenses anymore. Of you allow firmware updates , that is great. If you update and break a product with firmware that is not great. If you refuse to allow a customer to revert back to older firmware, that is unacceptable.

Works great on Sony A7R iii. Doesnt seem to work on Sony A6000 (very slow af like 4-5 seconds) Focusing speed takes less than a second to lock on focus. Ive noticed it taking 1-2 seconds to focus if the subject very far away. Very accurate focusing. It works with single shot af and continuous af. On continuous af you will hear an auto focusing noise from the af motor of the lens. It is kinda loud but not noticeable unless your in a quiet area. it goes away after you taken the shot. It doesnt focus at the same speed as Sony native lens. Example: My Sony 24-70 f2.8 takes less than half a second to acquire focus. While the adapted lens takes at minimum half a second to a second. If that half a second is required for you. Than you better off getting the native lens. Poor af in low light. Highly recommended if you have canon glass. Glass I tested on. Canon ef 28 f1.8, Canon ef 50 f1.4, Canon ef 85 f1.8, Canon ef 17-40 f4, Tamron 24-70 f2.8 vc, and Tamron 70-200 f2.8 vc. 1/28/18 Update VC doesnt work from Tamron lenses. Should be turned off or images will be super soft. In body stabilizer seems to work. 10/12/18 update It seems VC on Tamron lenses do work. But you cant have it on with the lens or it will cause random soft image. Have to choose 1 or the other. Also with the new version 2 firmware for A7r iii it lets you use all the af modes now with my Canon lenses. The af speed on version 2 firmware seems to help with the auto focus speed. Seems a bit faster and more accurate. With my Tamron 70-200 2.8 vc mk i it use to hurt a lot when focusing from min to infinity focus. Now the hunting seem to have decreased by quite a bit.

Works Great! Auto focus works on both a Sony NEX-7 and a Sony a6300 with all of my Canon lens: Tamron Di II SP 17-50mm F/2.8 Tamron Di SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Tamron Di II SP 60mm F/2 MACRO Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 Kenko C-AF 2X TELEPLUS PRO 300 converter on the 70-300 (making a 140-600mm, used manual focus at the 600mm end). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRY THIS ADAPTER !!!

I have tested the adapter with these non-Sigma lenses Camera body used: A7M3 (ILCE-7M3) lens: Canon EF 35mm f / 1.4L USM, 2012: Works Canon EF 50mm f / 1.2L USM, 2012: Works Canon EF 16-35mm f / 2.8L II USM, 2010: Works Canon EF 70-200 f / 2.8L USM, 2005: Works Only have AF-S and AF-C modes, AF performance is slightly lower than when using a Canon body, and I do not know if its a Sony body or a converter problem. Because I do not have a Sony native lens. Tested indoors late at night and taken at maximum aperture.

Bought to use with a "red-dot" sigma 50mm 1.8 and a Sony a7r III. While the lens will attach, only manual focus is possible and the adapter seems to cause my camera to randomly freeze. Cannot control the fstop either, so it works as a physical link, but nothing else. The random freezing doesnt occur with the Sony FE lens I bought with the camera. Its usable, so I give it a 2 star rating. If the auto focus worked at all, even slowly as others stated along with the fstop, I would have given it 4 stars.. Cant give it 5 stars even with the focus working since it causes my camera to freeze and have to be reset by removing the lens and battery. FYI - Does not fit any white-dot crop sensor lenses, only the dual purpose red dot lenses.

Thats about the price difference between the Sigma MC-11 and a new Canon 7d. I have several full frame Sony and Canon cameras, but wanted to use a cropped sensor with the Sigma 150-600 Canon mount.when I need a little more reach. Like my Sony A6000. The Metabones 4 does a lousy job, but to be fair, its not made for Sigma lenses, so my options were the Sigma Mc or another camera. First thing I did was update the firmware of the camera and lens, and took it to my local wildlife preserve. Focusing was very quick. Not as quick as my Canon 5d, but close. I was not expecting it to be as quick as it is. My ratio of sharp to out of focus images went up big time, and this was in fairly dim light. Some of the birds I was photographing were wading in bushes and the lens went hunting for focus more often than I would have liked, and when they were within 20-30 feet focus was slow or not possible. This may have been the light. I intend to carry my 5d and the 70-200 2.8 for anything within that range anyway, so no big deal. Overall I am impressed and look forward to getting out this weekend, hoping for better light.

Once I got the item I updated the firmware. This took about 5mins. I have a native lens and this MC-11 made my Canon 85mm 1.8 work like a native lens. Also all my other canon and sigma lens worked amazing. The only complaint is on my bigger telephoto lens the adapter to lens interface is a little wiggly. I didnt notice any flaws due to this. Otherwise, for the price and what you get.....Big thumbs up and 5 stars. I will never have to by those expensive native Sony lenses again! Yeah!
