This lens is fantastic! I am able to shoot without a flash in conditions that I never would have considered before. While it is not quite as sharp as the F1.2, it is is a fraction of the price, and WAAAY lighter. It is a ton sharper than the F1.8 and significantly faster. Also, it is at a price range than us mortals can justify paying for a prime lens that may or may not get used all the time. I really like carrying this lens on my 5Dmkiii for a walk around lens. For a more technical review, I recommend looking up Ken Rockwells review (google him). He highly recommends this lens and so do I! For background, I shot semi-professionally for many years, and not I shoot my kids and family outings. My normal rig is a 5Dmkiii with a battery grip and a 24-70 F2.8L and 70-200 F2.8L IS.

Love, love, love! Im by no means a professional photographer. After reading tons of reviews, I purchased this lens to use during a birthday party. I am extremely happy that I did. The photos for the party came out perfectly. I cant wait to learn more about this lens to continue creating beautiful shots with my family.

This Lens does not work all the time. Half the time the lens will not focus, and it will not take the photo no matter how much you try to hit the trigger. I would not recommend buying this lens from this seller. I used a friends lens and it is completely different. I regret buying from a third party, and now I am out $300 because it is a faulty product. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! Seriously, buy directly from canon or somewhere you trust.

Canon has made a great quality lens. I love the extra wide aperture on this lens (f/1.4) to decrease the depth of field to get that extra blurry background style as well as great bokeh effects. This is a great general purpose lens too, and works well in low light situations. Super happy.

Best upgrade from my kit lens that I could have hoped for. I really enjoy the wide aperture. The vignetting isnt terrible (Adobes Lens correction barely changes the edges), the output is rather crisp and the auto focus is much faster than my Kit lens.

This in the only prime lens I own, all of my other lenses are "L" series zooms. I couldnt justify the price of the "L" series 50 mm version and have been very happy with this one.

This is a great lens for photos or video. It is used more for the close up shots and it does a fantastic job in low lighting situations.
