This is a great little lens for creative landscape photography, and its hard to beat that price. Unfortunately, I bought mine to use for astrophotography, and could never quite get the sharpness I was looking for, even after stepping down a few stops. I really liked this lens, but returned it for a refund. Id still recommend it for any shooters wanting an extreme wide angle budget lens.

Manual focus and aperture, but they all seem to work well. (its not as difficult as I thought it would be) I had questions and the dealer called me at home personally to help with any questions I had. This is a very fisheye lens, and works the way I thought it would, but allows for idiots like me to make it work well somehow with every shot.(excluding the one I under exposed) he gave me an exercise to focus on live view at 2 ft away, then on to infinity and check them out on download. Surprisingly, the DOF is SO VAST, that it focused well on all of them. This lens is going to be fun with creating artistic shots, and landscapes that are so beautiful that you have to get it all in one picture to get the effect. The amt of (for lack of a better word) fisheye effect is going to be fun and creative, what else can I say. It comes with a nice fitted case. I will try to add some photos later when I have more time. For the price, the manual isnt that big of a deal, esp with digital photography, if it looks bad, erase it and do it over, right? I highly recommend this lens for a fun way to get a good quality wide angle fish eye lens at a very low price point.

For the price, you cant get a better fisheye lens. Although not built for an EF mount on Canon full frame lenses (major vignetting), its performance on an EF-S Canon mount is second to none. The pictures you take are clear, the visuals are great, and the price is unbeatable. I wanted to test the versatility of the lens, so I took it with me to the Cubs game in Milwaukee, seeing how much of the stadium I could capture, both inside and out, and I was not disappointed. I will take the lens to Wrigley Field next week as well. Shots are below. If you get the chance to buy a fisheye lens at a reasonable price, look no further than Altura. Although they are not a brand name or a popular third party, their quality speaks for itself.

The f/3.0 takes stunning photos in low light situations like sunrise/sunset, foothills inside closed valley. There is a decent range of angle to make the photo look straight through this fisheye to take portraits with wide scenery. It takes fair amount of learning curve on how to fully utilize this lens, but believe me once you figure it out you wont be disappointed at all. The photos can be turned into 180 degree pan views by flattening in any editing software, I mainly use GIMP on linux. the 8mm helps to get sharp images with minimal distortion. glad that I bought this lens before my roadtrip. check out the unedited sample images.

Amazing lens with fantastic clarity. Honest broker though we get used to using some sort of auto focus and when we revert back to manually lenses it can take a minute to retrain your eye muscle. Please dont miss understand that as a negitive more of a reminder. Great lens and fits really really tight on my d750 FX. I just adjust my settings down to dx crop and I am ready to go. I normally only shoot in M mode so easy day. This is o ly this first afternoon with it and I snagged a out 2oo shots. I was worried about the price but not any more. So I have to go take more pictures now. 100% Very satisfied customer.

Super lens priced right. Ive had a lot of fun with this guy and I got it from digital goja before they dumped nikon. They have an awesome team of folks and I try to buy everything I can from them thats brand neutral. They have gone above and beyond for me when they didnt have to and thats worth everything to me. Their prices are generally the best or close enough to get that service. When I first got this lens it was giving me some trouble until I figured out it was me. I knew it was a full manual lens in my head but,, oh well. Its great outdoors as well as inside. Great on bulb mode star shots of 25-30 seconds. Ive got some really cool ,up through the bare budding tree shots to the stars with just a hint of moon and all kinds of shots. I stood with my back against my bay door and it got everything in the shop, even the ceiling came out great. Low light, day light and adjustable from the light settings to special effects. I have some bigger more expensive fish eyes but this one is like my little pet. Im most likely to grab this one. Ive gone for others and grabbed this one instead and it changed up the whole shoot with bonus effects. Have fun.

The lens works great for my application. The only complaint, and due to the great price, it is a minor complaint, but the hood does not lock onto the lens securely, and it comes off too easily. The picture sharpness with this lens is great. It does not have any automatic settings, so you have to do all the settings manually on your camera. I use this lens to shoot homes for real estate listings. It is very handy to include the whole room in one photo. It does cause a fisheye distortion, which is to be expected, but is easily corrected with Photoshop. Great product at an unbeatable price.

I have recently run into Digital Goja, and honestly wish I had found them earlier, if for no other reason that they are quasi-local to me in South Florida. Regarding the fisheye lens, it arrived on time, well packaged, and seems exactly like it should be. I still have a huge learning curve for this lens, so I cant honestly give the final verdict. However, it is a MANUAL lens that requires one to do all the settings on their own, and the great thing is that Digital Goja has a great video on youtube that talks you through this, and what to expect from the lens, and HOW to use it on each camera type. I took a few shots with it, and they seemed as sharp as I would expect, but I need to learn fisheye techniques before I get the full value of the lens. Although to me, the purpose of this particular lens was to really find out if fisheye is something worth exploring further. To get a Canon fisheye is going to cost a lot of money. Altura clearly took the tact of putting decent glass on the cheapest mount possible (no electronics), which to me is a great idea and lets me dabble in this extreme form of photography.

I bought this lens to use on a first generation Canon 7D. Its all manual, so I put the camera dial on M and adjust ISO where needed for lighting. Then I fiddle with the f-stop and shutter speed to get the exposure and depth of field desired. I find it helpful to put the metering in "spot" mode to get an exposure for the most important part of the image, then adjust f-stop or shutter speed up or down a bit to make sure that other interesting bits of the image are usable. I always under-expose a bit when in doubt since thats easy to correct in post, but blown out highlights are never recoverable. Since the field of view is so wide, using exposure metering modes than the "spot" can result in a less than optimal exposure if something off center flaunts itself when using the other metering methods. Play with it and figure out which metering method works best for your kind of shots. For what I do, the spot metering works best for most shots. I purchased the lens mainly for night sky shots, so I went out to test it at night on the day I received it. The included images where shot in RAW and adjusted in Photoshop. Since the field of view is so wide, it is difficult to focus through the viewfinder. Everything is so small that unless your subject is just a couple feet in front of the lens, focusing through the viewfinder for general wide shots isnt really practical. I wont be doing much close up with this lens, so the focus assist and live mode combo works well for me. By putting the camera in Live Mode so you can see the image on the screen instead of the viewfinder, and then using the focus assist button to magnify the screen 10X, focusing is relatively easy to do. Not quick, but easy to accomplish. For the price, its a great lens and will do what I want to it to do.

Works great on my Nikon D3300 and D5500. Well built and comes with a great lens case. Not difficult to use as a manual lens since the depth of field is amazing. I wanted a fisheye, but knew it would be a lens I would not use often, so finding this at such a great price was perfect. A great addition to the camera case. Have been very pleased with all Altura products purchased from Digital Goja.
