They work great for a hot minute. But after you turn the top a few too many times, the cord comes unplugged from the circuit board and it flashes hot hot hot hot hot hot. Since I can’t affird Nikon I buy a sh*t ton of these every year and use them u til they break. Then Rick has to play Operation to fix them so I can get 1-2 more uses out of them. If you’re an active shooter, these are basically disposable.

I was using it under normal conditions just 2 weeks after receiving it and I heard a loud pop - like a bulb blowing. Sure enough, it will no longer fire. Ive had the YN 568EX for almost two years and have had no issues with it. I was excited about some new features on the 685 (the hotshoe locking mechanism is much nicer as well as the user interface), but its definitely poor quality. Thankfully it is still within the Amazon return window.

Bought two in Sept 2016. Its now Dec 2016 and only 1 is still usable. The battery door broke on the other. Still trying to figure out how to do warranty repair. Searching the web for help is not encouraging.

I purchased the flash 4/5/19 I’m writing this review on 5/11/19 I used it moderately for 1 month and today it finally gave me an error and stopped firing all together. Super disappointed in the quality. Additionally the “lock” that connects to the camera or light stand broke as well.
