Ive had this flash for about 6 months doing nightlife and event photography when I need a TTL speedlite instead of a manual flash or studio strobes that I would normally use. I had canon Speelites years ago and sold them so when I needed a cheap TTL flash, I picked this up without hesitation and you should too. I use canon 5D mkiis and it works great without needing a complicated manual to figure things out. Press on, maybe hit 2nd curtain or high speed mode and your set. For the value, I would recommend it if you need something quick, cheap and works decent; specially in scenarios where you dont want to risk a $500 flash. $50 flash? I put this thing in more daring places to get the shot. I pair these with Eneloops and it works wonders. The down side is that the flash head spins way too easy, specially if you have a flash mod like a bounce fabric. Thats the only down side.

When it worked, it worked great. For me as a beginner/intermediate photographer, this was a great beginner external flash to practice with. Flash worked great in low and medium light situations, and with the tilt and swivel, I can bounce the flash off something else for indirect light instead of overpowering the subject. With that said, I kept having issues where the flash itself wouldnt fire. Batteries would quickly get eaten if I left the flash on for an entire photoshoot, such as engagements, parties, or multi-hour events. Several times with fresh batteries, the flash itself would power on, but no flash would emit, not even via the test button. This has been a vexing and continuous issue with this flash as I have not identified or read any fixes for it. It will sometimes fix itself if I dont use the damn flash for long periods of time, but even three different fresh sets of batteries, the damn flash wont fire. Ive tried re-calibrating my flash settings in the camera to no avail, and that still doesnt explain the Test button not firing the flash. If you see this flash on sale for under $40, go for it as its a great beginners flash to practice with. But this things reliability, when it decides to stop working (and at the worst times too), can cost you future engagements so I would suggest going for a more reliable, robust flash.

I have always been a photography purist in that I always thought that a group of products from the same manufacturer works best with one another. Maybe on some extreme level they do but for my needs this flash meets or exceeds those needs at a HUGE savings. I needed a second flash for an upcoming wedding so I looked at the more powerful relatives of my canon 430EX and honestly this one came in there with the functions that suit my needs. Its a big flash but only adds about .25 pounds of weight. The Gary Fong Lightphere fits it with a little stretching. It actually fits it better than the 430EX. This flash tought me a very valuable lesson. I realize now I could have directed money saved to purchase more glass. Time will tell if it holds up as well as the speedlights.

I thought about getting this or the cheaper model, but this one has automatic features where the cheaper model does not. My wife likes to use her Canon DSLR in auto mode quite a bit, so this is a great "plug n play" solution. You just plug it into your hotshoe mount, turn it on, set mode to TTL, and fire away. Works great for fill flash and bounce flash. A nice feature of this that they didnt list on the description is that it has a built-in flash diffuser that slides in at the top of the flash. You push it in when you want to use direct flash. I bought a flash diffuser separately, but it was the wrong size so I didnt even use it. The built in one worked just fine. Seems to be pretty easy on battery drain as well. I used a set of 4 AA Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries, and after about 500 photos the batteries are still going. Id highly recommend getting some rechargeable batteries to go along with this.

Ive been using it for practices for almost 9 months and Ive finally decided to upload a few test shots just so someone would find it helpful in terms of flash power and distance to subject. It is a pretty good budget flash, I now have two of them, I am thinking about to buy a 3rd (I also have 1 basic TT560). Ive found TT680 efficiently satisfy my needs in studio products photoshoot. I occasionally use it for outdoor or at indoor for small friends gathering party. Im sure higher price flash would be better for increased power and longer distance shots but for now this is good. I also bought yongnuo yn-622c to control flash remotely, it works beautifully on TT680. Ive tried continuous shooting indoor at home studio and pair it with PIXEL FSK 2.4GHz Wireless Shutter Remote, it does a decent job, much easier to catch a splash when you have to do it alone; well, I of course still need to get right on focus and the timing because flash power at a few occasions goes down on the subsequent shots in continuous mode and overall lighting is not preferable. For high speed sync, I might have a bad eyes or my test shots were not set right for the HSS purpose?? I dont see the bands as in another review, or maybe its not that obvious to my eyes, or perhaps I use 7D markII... Anyways, I attached the test pictures for you to look at.... I would definitely recommend beginners to buy TT680, 4 stars for its friendly price and functions. 1 star off because eventually I think I will need something very powerful like godox AD200,,, but that thats all about $$$.

This product is inferior and does not perform well for long. It also has a problematic hot shoe. -First, the flash has a tiny output compared to the 580EXII. If the 580EXII is GN58, then the NW680 is about GN10. Perhaps this is a defective unit, but if so, then it had poor quality and poor QC. - Next, the 5 pins on the underside of the hot shoe are so hard, that you often cannot remove it from the hot show without using a tool, such as a pocket knife, as they lock themselves in the protruding position so you cant pull the flash out of the hot shoe. - Please note that this does NOT "replace" a Canon 580EXII, as it cannot be used with a remote RF trigger, such as a RadioPopper™. A Canon 580EXII can be placed on an RF receiver mount, and will fire when the controller unit sends a signal to the receiver. This NW680 does not fire and cannot be used. - Ive had my 580EXII for over 9 years and it works like a champ. This NW680 hasnt worked longer than 3 months... - Supporting photos are labeled to show the differences in the flash. - Tech support is via email and clearly their native language is Chinese, not English, and communication is difficult.

I have Canon 6d camera with 24-105 L lenses and I also bought Canon 90-EX (for $65) as fill-in flash. Canon 90-EX is very weak and can be used of up to 4-6 meters, so I was thinking about more powerful flash with swivel (bounce) head. I was shooting pictures with 6d inside the room without flash and pictures were pretty good (6d has excellent low light sensitivity), so I thought that I did not need flash. As a result I did not want to spend $269 for Canon speedlite-430 EX. However to study all aspects of digital photography I wanted to buy not expensive powerful flash with swivel head and E-TTL2 and I bought this flash for just $65. Flash works well in E-TTL2 (auto) mode with all camera modes except Aperture priority, but I use mostly manual mode to set shutter speed at 1/180. When I tried to use Auto and Program modes then I could get max shutter speed of just 1/60, which is not fast enough to produce high quality pictures. Flash zoom automatically moves when I change lenses zoom from 24 to 105 mm. This flash is very powerful, so I put on its head built in diffuser, turn flash head up or with small angle towards the shooting subject and use Canons Exposure-Lock to fire flash and set correct exposure. With this setup pictures are coming much better than pictures taken without flash. It happens mostly because chosen ISO is much smaller which is around 200-400 versus 3200-12800 without flash. I am photo enthusiast, but I like to try to receive professional results. In addition to 24-105 L f4 lenses, I also bought 2 other lenses. First lenses Canon 70-300 IS USM ($237 with canon 6d). At 70 mm it produced inferior pictures compare to 24-105 L f4 lenses (with zoom set at 70 mm). Another lenses Canon 50mm f1.4 IS (for $287) I bought per my friends recommendation to shout portraits and pictures inside the room without flash. It is very light but it produces the same pictures quality as my 24-105 lenses set at 50 mm. Pictures comparison was done with and without this Newer flash. Newer TT680 is very heavy flash, but it serves well its purpose of improving my skills as a photographer and helps produce excellent pictures. Its built quality is good for the price. Controls of this flash are designed well for photo enthusiast or semi-pro photographer.

Bought this for my Canon Camera because the built in flash was terrible for most of my picture taking. I needed a flash that I could tilt and rotate and this flash was perfect for my needs. Battery life has been great and the flash recharges quickly between shots. It is larger than I was expecting so it doesn’t fit in my camera bag like I’d like. It does come with a soft cloth storage bag which is nice. It has 2 pull out filters for the flash and I broke the solid white filter trying to pull out and stick back in but the either filter is just flimsy plastic. The other filter is semi opaque and is easier to pull in and out. Overall good value flash!

This so called speedlite did not work. The zoom feature does not work. It stays on manual and us never on auto. The E-TTL feature is not there either. It flashes but has no idea what the camera is telling it. Unless I hear from Neewer, this sad review will stand. I have emailed and called but no response. Added note on 2/2 The second unit was received in good order and time. The e-TTL feature does work. However, the auto zoom feature does not. You can adjust the zoom manually but who wants to stop to do that?! IF the slave function works, I will use it that way. I do not recommend this flash. A Neewer rep finally emailed me. They were on vacation!!

This flash is an amazing value. It has all of the top end features: GN58, Zoom, E-TTL, AF Assist, etc. I just purchased this as an upgrade from a Neewer TT560. In terms of features, this new flash blows my old one out of the water. There are a couple of things I will miss from my old flash though. Pros: * Great value for professional feature set * E-TTL makes point and shoot a ton easier * GN58 produces a ton of flash power * AF assist is amazing. It might be my favorite improvement over my old flash. No more front focusing issues. * Size and build give professional impression. Cons: * I mainly shoot with manual flash. It is super annoying that the flash resets to defaults (not what I previously set it to) every time I power it on. My old TT560 remembered what I wanted. * E-TTL is not as accurate as I hoped it would be. I still rely on manual settings instead of trusting the E-TTL to apply appropriate exposure. This may just be an issue with my camera body though. Not counting it against this flash. * This thing is huge. It is almost obnoxiously large. If you arent trying to impress anyone, then this is not going to hide yourself from them either.
