The flash works but I cannot make many of the adjustments explained below. I contacted New Harbor, the seller 3 times by email (no phone). They said they would get back to me, still waiting. I contacted Neewer 5 Times!! Three by phone (all you get is an answering machine). and 3 times by email. NO response from them. If anyone does have this with a Canon T3i can you see if you have same problem? Thanks OK, Here is the issue. I have Canon t3i It has to do with the inability to change settings on the camera when flash is attached and on. I go to Flash Control in the camera There are 2 places to make changes: External Flash func. settings: I can change all these settings. The problem is with: External Flash C. Fn settings: Thee are 13 settings there and I cannot change any of them. For example, the 1st setting is set on Distance Indicator Display - it is set to Meters (in Blue). As per manual, I click the settings button, then move Red box to Feet and it goes right back to meters, Same with all other 12 settings. On the previous menu - External Flash func. settings, I can make changes using the same method: Ex, switching to M - Manual Mode New Harbor finally told me to return the unit since they could not figure out the issue. After 12 emails to Neewer and endless excuses, here is final email: Hi, Thanks for your update, we are terribly sorry for this issue, we are sorry that our technical department cant solve the problem now, we are also frustrated that we havent the ability to solve your problem .We do understand your feeling. But we will try our best to improve our skills Sincerely sorry again! Thanks for your understanding in advance! Have a nice day!

This is my first and only flashes (3 of them now) ever owned. I think they are very versatile and work as described. The only thing I had an issue with was the length of time set for the sleep mode to activate. 3 minutes was too short of time for me. The manual does not cover how to change this. However, you can change the sleep mode time by holding down on the LCD Illumination button. Use the + or - to cycle through the choices of Off, 3, 10, 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Courtesy of user Martini at photography on the net forums. Now everything is as it should be!!

Ive been a big fan of Neewer speedlights for years. I needed another ttl flash so I grabbed this version. Unfortunately, this is a total bust. I was holding out thinking it could be crappy batteries or just with a certain lens but Ive tried all options and this just doesnt work like others Ive had. Bummed I missed the return window and stuck with this. I cant in any way trust it at weddings where I would primarily use this. Maybe I just got a lemon but I will definitely not be trying this one again or recommending it.

I really needed a decent flash for my Canon EOS Rebel XS (yeah, old and clunky I know). This has done the trick quite well and I am quite pleased with it. I could recommend this to a friend. 2015.01.24 - Lowered my initial review by 1 star. I am having difficulty getting the NW680 to work with my Yongnuo YN622C flash controller. I do not know if this is a problem with the flash or the controller or user error. Personally I assume user error until otherwise known. I do know that Neewer DOES NOT have an online manual for this flash which makes it far more difficult for to figure out where the fault lies. Lost my original manual which came with the flash. I am out of luck I guess and I am quite disappointed Neewer doesnt have an online manual given the vast majority of their sales are online.

If youre looking for a solid fully automatic flash this is the one to get. Using this on a Canon 5D and I couldnt be happier. Quick recharge time coupled with fully automatic controls make this the flash to buy. The threads are plastic, but overall if you just start using it youll probably forget you dont have a Canon speedlite mounted up there. This is a really great flash for those on a budget, and if you just want one flash to get you through those sessions where you really need it - hit the buy button. I did a ton of research and glad I went with this NEEWER. This flash seems to work fine with all types of batteries, but the better the battery the better the performance.

This speedlite is awesome. Its gotten me through a whole outdoor photoshoot (roughly 150-200 snaps @ 1/4 to 1/1 power) on a full charge. But I suppose the batteries you use come into play as well. The quality is pretty good. A little on the heavy side, but it feels pretty sturdy and solid. The modes are similar to Canons high end speedlites for the most part, featuring E-TTL--which Im not a fan of, as it is usually inaccurate for me. I usually use manual mode. The pc sync port and illuminated LCD screens are 2 features I wasnt really looking at when purchasing this, but ended up loving afterwards. This flash performs, and is well worth the money if you want ETTL. If you dont you can get the TT560 for less. Way cheaper than the official Canon stuff. Thinking about buying another one just to have a backup.

3 major issues. I wanted to love it for the price I really did! 1) It has the worst AF assist beam. just a dull led light which is too high above the focus points to help. The camera cant get focus on any areas that are dark. I shoot in a club and in some night photography so that renders the flash useless for focusing. In contrast my yongnuo YN568EX shoots a great crosshatch laser beam which provides perfect contrast points on any surface including a plain white wall which his hard for any camera to focus on without a texture. My camera simply cant focus with the led light from this unit I may as well turn that feature off. Well I thought that mounting it to my YN622c triggers which have crosshatch focus beams would fix that... 2) Sync issues/misfires with wireless triggers. When I mount this flash to my yn622c it suddenly goes to full power, doesnt fire at all or fires on totally different settings. This happens once in about every 7-10 shots. When I put it directly back on the camera it fires consistently again, when the camera can get focus. This happens whether the flash and trigger are on the camera or off. When I put my yongnuo flash on the triggers no problems at at. I know having the same brand helps but this flash is supposed to be compatible. 3) Flash head size is oversized. No current standard diffusers will fit this head means I would have to carry different sets of diffusers. Suddenly the $60 flash is making things more expensive. I have a canon t3i and t5i. I would have almost been able to live with the oversized head if the focus beam and the sync problems didnt exist. If you are just gonna take pictures in bright settings and only use the flash on the the camera then its still a good deal. For my needs I have to return it.

what can I say, it holds up to the task. I needed a new flash on my back up camera in a hurry for a wedding, it shipped in 5 or 6 days to my house on standard shipping. I was impressed with how it kept up with shooting during the wedding where speed is the key. It will not keep up with rapid fire if you are firing at full power one shot after another. However the normal day to day photographer will not likely punish this thing as i did. that being said, it was happy with my results and it filled my needs. this is my new favorite flash for all around shooting. for the price and function this flash is worth the money, works great on all my other canons too, new and old.

This thing has given me nothing bun grief since the day I bought it. Even with brand new name brand batteries it only flashes about 40% of the time. It also drains batteries within an hour. It’s cheap and works like it’s cheap. Don’t bother.
