I have always been a photography purist in that I always thought that a group of products from the same manufacturer works best with one another. Maybe on some extreme level they do but for my needs this flash meets or exceeds those needs at a HUGE savings. I needed a second flash for an upcoming wedding so I looked at the more powerful relatives of my canon 430EX and honestly this one came in there with the functions that suit my needs. Its a big flash but only adds about .25 pounds of weight. The Gary Fong Lightphere fits it with a little stretching. It actually fits it better than the 430EX. This flash tought me a very valuable lesson. I realize now I could have directed money saved to purchase more glass. Time will tell if it holds up as well as the speedlights.

I thought about getting this or the cheaper model, but this one has automatic features where the cheaper model does not. My wife likes to use her Canon DSLR in auto mode quite a bit, so this is a great "plug n play" solution. You just plug it into your hotshoe mount, turn it on, set mode to TTL, and fire away. Works great for fill flash and bounce flash. A nice feature of this that they didnt list on the description is that it has a built-in flash diffuser that slides in at the top of the flash. You push it in when you want to use direct flash. I bought a flash diffuser separately, but it was the wrong size so I didnt even use it. The built in one worked just fine. Seems to be pretty easy on battery drain as well. I used a set of 4 AA Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries, and after about 500 photos the batteries are still going. Id highly recommend getting some rechargeable batteries to go along with this.

I have Canon 6d camera with 24-105 L lenses and I also bought Canon 90-EX (for $65) as fill-in flash. Canon 90-EX is very weak and can be used of up to 4-6 meters, so I was thinking about more powerful flash with swivel (bounce) head. I was shooting pictures with 6d inside the room without flash and pictures were pretty good (6d has excellent low light sensitivity), so I thought that I did not need flash. As a result I did not want to spend $269 for Canon speedlite-430 EX. However to study all aspects of digital photography I wanted to buy not expensive powerful flash with swivel head and E-TTL2 and I bought this flash for just $65. Flash works well in E-TTL2 (auto) mode with all camera modes except Aperture priority, but I use mostly manual mode to set shutter speed at 1/180. When I tried to use Auto and Program modes then I could get max shutter speed of just 1/60, which is not fast enough to produce high quality pictures. Flash zoom automatically moves when I change lenses zoom from 24 to 105 mm. This flash is very powerful, so I put on its head built in diffuser, turn flash head up or with small angle towards the shooting subject and use Canons Exposure-Lock to fire flash and set correct exposure. With this setup pictures are coming much better than pictures taken without flash. It happens mostly because chosen ISO is much smaller which is around 200-400 versus 3200-12800 without flash. I am photo enthusiast, but I like to try to receive professional results. In addition to 24-105 L f4 lenses, I also bought 2 other lenses. First lenses Canon 70-300 IS USM ($237 with canon 6d). At 70 mm it produced inferior pictures compare to 24-105 L f4 lenses (with zoom set at 70 mm). Another lenses Canon 50mm f1.4 IS (for $287) I bought per my friends recommendation to shout portraits and pictures inside the room without flash. It is very light but it produces the same pictures quality as my 24-105 lenses set at 50 mm. Pictures comparison was done with and without this Newer flash. Newer TT680 is very heavy flash, but it serves well its purpose of improving my skills as a photographer and helps produce excellent pictures. Its built quality is good for the price. Controls of this flash are designed well for photo enthusiast or semi-pro photographer.

Bought this for my Canon Camera because the built in flash was terrible for most of my picture taking. I needed a flash that I could tilt and rotate and this flash was perfect for my needs. Battery life has been great and the flash recharges quickly between shots. It is larger than I was expecting so it doesn’t fit in my camera bag like I’d like. It does come with a soft cloth storage bag which is nice. It has 2 pull out filters for the flash and I broke the solid white filter trying to pull out and stick back in but the either filter is just flimsy plastic. The other filter is semi opaque and is easier to pull in and out. Overall good value flash!

This flash is an amazing value. It has all of the top end features: GN58, Zoom, E-TTL, AF Assist, etc. I just purchased this as an upgrade from a Neewer TT560. In terms of features, this new flash blows my old one out of the water. There are a couple of things I will miss from my old flash though. Pros: * Great value for professional feature set * E-TTL makes point and shoot a ton easier * GN58 produces a ton of flash power * AF assist is amazing. It might be my favorite improvement over my old flash. No more front focusing issues. * Size and build give professional impression. Cons: * I mainly shoot with manual flash. It is super annoying that the flash resets to defaults (not what I previously set it to) every time I power it on. My old TT560 remembered what I wanted. * E-TTL is not as accurate as I hoped it would be. I still rely on manual settings instead of trusting the E-TTL to apply appropriate exposure. This may just be an issue with my camera body though. Not counting it against this flash. * This thing is huge. It is almost obnoxiously large. If you arent trying to impress anyone, then this is not going to hide yourself from them either.

This is my first and only flashes (3 of them now) ever owned. I think they are very versatile and work as described. The only thing I had an issue with was the length of time set for the sleep mode to activate. 3 minutes was too short of time for me. The manual does not cover how to change this. However, you can change the sleep mode time by holding down on the LCD Illumination button. Use the + or - to cycle through the choices of Off, 3, 10, 30, 60 or 90 minutes. If youre looking for a solid fully automatic flash this is the one to get. Using this on a Canon 5D and I couldnt be happier. Quick recharge time coupled with fully automatic controls make this the flash to buy. The threads are plastic, but overall if you just start using it youll probably forget you dont have a Canon speedlite mounted up there. This is a really great flash for those on a budget, and if you just want one flash to get you through those sessions where you really need it - hit the buy button. I did a ton of research and glad I went with this NEEWER. This flash seems to work fine with all types of batteries, but the better the battery the better the performance.

This speedlite is awesome. Its gotten me through a whole outdoor photoshoot (roughly 150-200 snaps @ 1/4 to 1/1 power) on a full charge. But I suppose the batteries you use come into play as well. The quality is pretty good. A little on the heavy side, but it feels pretty sturdy and solid. The modes are similar to Canons high end speedlites for the most part, featuring E-TTL--which Im not a fan of, as it is usually inaccurate for me. I usually use manual mode. The pc sync port and illuminated LCD screens are 2 features I wasnt really looking at when purchasing this, but ended up loving afterwards. This flash performs, and is well worth the money if you want ETTL. If you dont you can get the TT560 for less. Way cheaper than the official Canon stuff. Thinking about buying another one just to have a backup.

what can I say, it holds up to the task. I needed a new flash on my back up camera in a hurry for a wedding, it shipped in 5 or 6 days to my house on standard shipping. I was impressed with how it kept up with shooting during the wedding where speed is the key. It will not keep up with rapid fire if you are firing at full power one shot after another. However the normal day to day photographer will not likely punish this thing as i did. that being said, it was happy with my results and it filled my needs. this is my new favorite flash for all around shooting. for the price and function this flash is worth the money, works great on all my other canons too, new and old.
