If youre looking for a good system to buy into, I think its hard to get past Godoxs strobes and speedlights. I have a number of other Godox/Flashpoint lights, and I just order a second TT600 to fill out my run-n-gun, three light off-camera portrait setup (now two of these and an AD200). With one of the X1T controllers, or even another Godox flash with commander built in (Ive used my little , you could honestly do almost anything you want with enough of these TT600s. The fact that they can do high speed sync (HSS) up to 1/8000 with any brand of camera (again, so long as you have an appropriate trigger) is really impressive for $65, and theres nothing as capable in that price range from camera manufacturers (e.g. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, etc.). The V-series lights that use 2000mAh rechargeable batteries are very enticing, but they have the same output, are double the price, and I already have quite the collection of Eneloop batteries that more than get the job done. If youre looking for a capable on-camera flash for bouncing, this will definitely do the job, but it requires a bit more effort since it doesnt support TTL. Ive used my original TT600 this way to good effect numerous times, but with a little tweaking, a TTL speedlight makes the job quicker, easier, and more consistent. That being said, if you really want to get a better handle on how to use and incorporate flash into your event or portrait photos for fill, getting competent at using a manual flash can be very enlightening. Plus, if youre on a budget, it still works fine, just a little more trial-and-error. Overall, these lights are just really solid. The build is comparable to more expensive and similarly capable lights (features-wise) from Canon or Nikon. With good Eneloop Pro AAs in the chamber, recycle rates are pretty quick - probably about 2-3 seconds even for full power pops (youre honestly more likely to overheat the flash head if shooting really quickly at high power than run into recycle rate issues). In a HSS setup theyre very reliable and work very well as fill for a higher-wattage key light in a softbox. The menus are pretty straightforward, and once you memorize how to put them into radio-triggered slave and groups, youll probably never have to look at the manual again. I couldnt say what the customer service is like here in the states because Ive never had a Godox light fail (and Ive not been kind to my original TT600, if Im being honest...), but if thats a concern buy the re-branded Flashpoint R2 through Adorama (same light, same triggers) as theyll back it up. My plan if I ever encounter a problem is to send it to Adorama for service/repair, but seeing as the price is so low on these lights in particular its unlikely that repair would be notably cheaper than a new flash. (One thing to note about using the lights in slave/groups with a trigger is that they blink the AF assist lamp to let you know they have connection with the X1T trigger - doesnt bother me, but a friend of mine said it drives him crazy for some reason. To each their own, I suppose, but theres no way to turn it off.) As for the few people who have experienced quality control issues, Im not sure why they didnt just return/exchange the defective light if it arrived not working properly; if it comes damaged/defective, Amazon should handle that.

I wasnt expecting much for $60+ even after reading a lot of the reviews here but was pleasantly surprised when I started using this flash. I shoot manual flash mode, so this model was fine for me. The attached photo is with a 26" octabox and was shot at about 1/8 power I think (flash used for fill and catchlight). Powerful enough for outdoor fill and works great in modifiers. The only negative is that the AA batteries get very hot if shooting in quick succession and the flash may stop firing for a bit. I took about 50 quick succession photos and at the end of those, the flash was misfiring about 25% of the time. I stopped for about 5 minutes and it was fine after that. Ive seen this behavior twice now, and just use it to take a break and drop in new batteries (even though they werent completely depleted). Overall, an excellent flash for the price and if it holds out for a year or two, I will be happy.

I chose this speedlight because I have bought into the Godox system. Forget TTL its useless. Save the cash and get this flash. Works PERFECT with the Godox Xpro trigger. With the Xpro trigger you can control flash intensity with is why I bought. So much better build quality that the other cheap speedlight knockoffs like Neewer or Yongnuo. Has the brightest flash for any speedlight until you get into expensive territory like the AD200 or studio strobes.

I am very hard on photography equipment. I have 5 of these and they are used weekly in harsh environments, getting tossed in to the trunk when quickly changing venues, fog, hot humid days, cold snowy weather, light rain etc.. I have not had ONE of these fail me yet! I have been using these for many months. I use them paired with Eneloop batteries and many times they last an entire session without changing batteries. Great power output however, once in a great while, I will get a single exposure where the color temp is off by a few hundred kelvin but then it is right back in the next photo. This is not from my camera as I custom set my color temp in Kelvin. Other than that small issue, they are awesome. Will buy them again!

Ive been using this TT600 for about a week now and am pleased with how the controls work and how it works with my Canon EOS 7D. However, I wish it were built to be more durable. I had a tabletop setup in our living room, which has thick, padded carpet. the table is 27.5" tall. I had the mounting stand attached to the TT600 so it could sit on the table behind a diffuser panel. I also had the wide panel on the flash deployed. Well, I managed to tip it off the table and it landed with a soft thud. The light seemed fine and continued to flash on command, no issues. However, when putting everything away, I saw that the wide panel had broken off the light. As it turns out, it has tiny plastic nubs on each side which act as the hinges for the panel so you can rotate it into and out of position. Well, one of those tiny nubs broke. So now the panel cannot be reattached, which also makes using the catchlight very difficult, if not impossible. The flash will still work, but these features are lost to me unfortunately. As the wide panel was lying flat against the face of the flash when the unit fell, I thought it should withstand that better than it did. And seeing the tiny bit of plastic that is all that holds it together was also disappointing.

This flash worked great for 6 months. I LOVE the high speed sync and how cheap they are. They are a DREAM but it then died after little use. I bought the Amazon warranty and i contacted them and they said Godox was under warranty still but i can NOT get Godox to email me back from China. So make sure you buy from a company like Adorama.

wow, this is a great flash, a lot better then my altura from a few years ago, bigger, brighter, faster. and with the builtin wireless there is no need for extra hardware, I purchased the Godox Xpro-C TTL Wireless Flash Trigger instead of the x1 because I like the screen and i plan to buy a few more of these, also pared with the Godox S-Type Bracket Bowens Mount for flash, and then Godox 32"/80cm Umbrella Octagon Softbox along with a grid, there is a vast amount of new adventures to go on. This flash ALSO acts as a strobe light, with setting for amount of flashes, power of flash, and the hertz of the flash. instantly freeze moving objects and take amazing video at night. I own 2 and plan to buy more. Godox is my preferred vendor.

This one rocks for the price! I set it to optical hide it then use my main flash system and pop this thing just chugs along (at one seventh the price), but not as powerful as my canon 600ex-rt ii. You do have to manually adjust it when using it in this mode but hey walk a little and save some cash, or link it to a Godox XPro-C wireless trigger, which is a nice setup to. Just saying...

Hello. My Godox TT600 came in perfect functionality. This is my new brand because I like the recicle time, it is faster than my previous youngnuo flashes. The bottons are easier to use and the best part... It doesnt need a receiver trigger. Good choice.

If you buy this flash, keep in mind its a manual flash - it has no TTL (through the lens) capability,so if youre an amateur using point and shoot, you wont like it. I shoot mostly in manual mode, and it works great for me. The intensity adjustment is intuitive and easy to use. It doesnt eat batteries like my Yonguo. It can Zoom (manually). When you rotate the head, plan on using some muscle power, but thats not a big deal. For the price, this is a great and powerful flash. I take architectural photos (real estate) and need multiple flashes. This has become my mainstay.
