I have to say I really like this flash unit. Its not too expensive, has good power for what it is, and recycles quick enough on AA batteries, and the fact that I can add an external battery is icing on the cake. Head tilts and swivels for bouncing flash. Coupling this with the X1-T transmitter gives you plenty of off-camera flash options, be it shooting in a umbrella/softbox or adding a directional light/bounce. Keep in mind, this is only a speedlight. Youre not going to get studio strobe power. The only caveat is that is full power the flash can have a "tail" on the light pulse, which can fail to stop motion and have a streak in the photos. Having the flash at rear-curtain sync helps. All in all, it was about half the cost of my Nikon SB-500 and easily twice the flash. Id highly recommend as a viable 3rd party option for those on a budget.

When I initially purchased the flash, I was thrilled. It arrived in a timely fashion, and worked great. Then one day I grabbed the flash and it wouldnt turn on. I had never even taken it outside. It stayed in the house and was used just a couple of times. I own 4 nikon oem flashes and just thought Id save on one that came with radio control. Either way, I contacred Godox directly, they requested a video and then when I sent it, they never got back to me. Nada. Nothing. Naturally, I assumed maybe somehow I missed their mail, and contacted them again. Nothing. Now, I dont want to be a jump the gun kind of guy so I waited a few weeks knowing people get busy and so forth. Still nothing. Now; that said, I own two sets of flash triggers also made by godox and to now, have had no problems. This flash however. Garbage. Do not buy it. For out the cash and buy an OEM if you can afford it, nothing worse than spending money on something that jist doesnt work, and customer service refuses to help you. Thank you for your mail and thank you for choosing to use our products. Please dont reverse their positive and negative poles。 please kindly provide us a video, so that we could know the problem more correctly Look forward to hearing from you soon Besr regards Godox service support I purchased a GODOX TT685N Flash in early November. I had the opportunity to use it twice and now it won’t power on at all. I have no idea why as it had never even left my home. I own several other Good products including the X1N 2.4G wireless flash triggers which I absolutely love, however; I have to say I am very disappointed in this product. As an avid photographer and customer who plans on using more of your products, I really hope you can help me. I have tried new batteries several times, and still have no explanation. I really look forward to hearing from someone soon. I contacted you about a month ago to inquire about a flash I purchased. I am curious if you have found a solution to my problem. I know it is an extremely technical issue, so I have been patient, but I have had no further contact after providing a video. I enjoy the value and quality of the other products I own from your company and would like to continue my patronage. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you very much.

I just received my 2 pieces and both underexpose about -1.3 when compared with my Nikon flash units (SB600 & SB400) using iTTL. Im very disappointed with the performance of the Godox TT685. My tests so far have been with the flash on camera. I would have been satisfied with a performance similar to Nikon units or even a -1/3 underexposed. The manual setting seems to work ok, but I want to have a good performance with iTTL as advertised. I also bought a XProN wireless trigger which I havent tested yet. I hope its performance is better than the TT685.

Im using these with my Nikon D7200 along with the Godox Xpro Wireless Trigger. They work great. I use the Eneloop rechargeable batteries and get 80-100 flashes per charge. Ive used them both on camera and off camera in the TTL mode and Manual modes. These are well made and work great. I have three of them. Godox makes a version that comes with a large single rechargeable battery (Godox V860II I think) but I went with the TT685 so that I could use standard AA batteries if I had too (i.e. on location and forgot to recharge). Well worth the price.

Inexpensive compared to its Nikon equivalent, but just as useful. While not as rugged as a brand-name flash, the build quality is certainly very good. The unit feels solid in the hand, not overly cheap or plastic. I found the light output to excellent and the battery life to be quite good. Unless you are firing off a great deal of full power pops that is. The only reason I am giving it a four-star rating instead of five is that I dont like the screw-down clamp that secures the flash to the hot-shoe. I much prefer the lever type. Otherwise, it is a solid, dependable unit and I have no complaints. I will certainly be buying more of them in the future.

I have used GODOX flashes with my Sony and Nikon cameras and have been relatively pleased with their performance for the price. There are times where the recycling time seems a bit longer than my Sony or Nikon flashes, but for a fraction of the price I can deal with that issue. I will say the GODOX has had a few misfires on my nikon through TTL, but no problems when using them of camera with a GODOX ProX trigger.

I needed a replacement for one of my Nikon SB800 which I had for years working as a professional photographer. I didnt feel like dishing out all the money for a new Nikon Flash and decided to try this one after reading the reviews. I like it that it doesnt overheat like another Yongnuo I have. When youre working at a wedding and doing the formals you cant have a flash easily overheating on you and this flash did not disappoint. Great value for the money.

Ive been very happy with the Godox/FlashPoint products. This is no exception. Its a cheaper alternative to the 860 that uses regular AA batteries. However, I have a FlashPoint Blast Power Pack BP-960 with a Godox PB-CX PB960 PB820 cable that I can plug in to it for enough power to last forever.

It works best when you combine it with the Godox battery pack
