I mounted this item to the quill of one of my drill presss and it works great. It uses M5 thumbscrews I substituted with soft-tip setscrews; this was done to help minimize vibration and allows for secure mounting without over-tightening; in this application, the supplied thumbscrews would otherwise fracture/break its collar from vibration while in use. Nifty product; saves me from having to make one myself...

We ordered this LED ring to replace our old fluorescent ring used for inspection of small parts and to improve illumination when taking pictures under the microscope. The product is very flimsy and if you arent careful enough, you may end damaging it during installation. The light intensity can be adjusted from very dim to reasonably strong, but since the diameter of the ring is very small compared to similar illuminators, it produces uneven results and a lot of vignetting. The ring adapter that comes with it is a poorly made piece of plastic which makes it almost impossible to attach the ring to the microscope in a precise way, and then you will end having a tilted illumination source that will produce undesired shadows and crazy color changes when taking pictures. If you only need basic illumination for your microscope and you are in a tight budget, this product may work; but I would strongly recommend that you look for other alternatives. You will definitely find much better products that wont cost much more.

I went to my original scope supplier to reorder the light ring when mine went out. After seeing their $175.00 price tag for a mere LED light ring I hit Amazon and found this light ring by AmScope. It is virtually identical to the one that came with my scope - actually - it is better! For $20.00! And shipping was FAST! Thank you United Scope!

Although my microscope mount is square, I was still able to easily make this fit and it lights my project (old roman coins) perfectly. And is so much cooler than the halogen bulb the microscope came with.

The screw goes through the plastic and plastic threads is easily worn out. Cannot have the ring fitted because of that. Stupid people designed this. Did not have chance to test the light.
