Install Flash Player Great value - any review has to keep in mind the super low price. Pros: Optical trigger, low price Cons: No zoom, not even push/pull. the guide number is VERY low. This flash has about as much reach as a pop up flash but unlike the pop up you can swivel it or use as a slave.

Fantastic way to experiment with off-camera flash. Fully manual control - but easily adjustable in from 1/128 power to 1/1 power in 1 F-stop increments. Its not clear in the description, but this flash is triggered optically, not "wirelessly" - there is no radio control and it does not connect to your DSLR or any other camera except when mounted directly in the hotshoe. Even then, this connection only tells the flash when to fire. There is no TTL (Through The Lens) metering. In S1 and S2 mode, this flash will only fire in sync with your on-camera flash. There is no guide number or sync speed listed, but from my tests it is quite powerful. The power, together with the ability to remote fire, rotate, bounce and diffuse the flash is a great upgrade over any built-in flash. Included stand has a tripod mount which is very useful. Optical trigger is very sensitive and has a wide catchment area, meaning the flash does not have to be line-of-sight with the flash on your camera to trigger. You can turn down your on-camera flash or diffuse it heavily and this unit will still fire. The only downside to this unit is its lack of TTL metering (meaning it has to be manually adjusted) and radio wireless control (meaning you have to fire your on-camera flash to trigger it remotely). However no flash at this price point has those features. This is unbeatable for the money.

Lets put it this way: I spent more on lunch today than I did on this flash. For the money, there is nothing remotely close to this thing. The construction is solid, it has nice features (like flash intensity) and unlike some other brands, the manual is coherent. I really love the swivel flash head (side to side and up and down). I may buy another to use as a slave. Yes, it requires batteries, but at this price, who cares? BTW, I use mine with a Canon 5D Mark II.

I have purchased 3 of these flash units and they work well at first. However, 2 of the 3 units stopped functioning after less than 6 months. The issue is that on repeated use (multiple flashes during a photography shoot), the units get quite warm and this causes battery acid to leech from the battery onto the battery cover. This leaves residual acid on the cover over time and disrupts the connection between the battery and the leads on the cover. Once you become aware of the issue, you can check for it to clean them off, but if you dont know about it, you wont ever open the battery cover and you wont know that this is an issue until the unit stops working. So, if you are using these as a flash option for studio photography and will have the units flashing multiple times in a row, these are probably not the best units for that. If you are using these as a simply flash photography support for an event or a family gathering, then they should work better because the units wont get so warm and cause the battery acid leakage issue. One further note, I used multiple battery types in the units so I dont think that it was a battery issue, but that this is an issue with the units themselves.

- Decent build - Easy to use - Charges fast - Decent feature set - Excellent price I really wanted to like this flash, however... - Flimsy PC connector - Neither S1 nor S2 slave modes work consistently - Power levels were not linear as inverse powers of two. Sometimes steps are half of the previous and sometimes not. Sent back to Amazon for replacement and... - Amazon was very responsive and the replacement was received within a few days - Slave modes worked on copy #2 - PC sync fitting was still very loose from the factory - Flash failed completely after less that two dozen firings When I attempted to replace with a third copy, I was told by customer service that the flash had been pulled from active listing for evaluation of faults. I was given a refund and will not be purchasing again.

Another example of getting what you paid for. Within two minutes of turning it on I heard a loud pop from inside the flash followed by a buzzing sound. Then liquid started leaking out of the battery compartment. At first I thought a battery (fresh RayOvacs) had exploded. Removing the batteries, they all looked intact with no signs of physical damage. I later confirmed they were all good with a volt meter. What really happened was evident. One of the internal electrolytic capacitors, possibly the one storing the charge for the flash, had exploded and leaked electrolyte. Absolutely cannot recommend this product. Returned for credit.

I just recently purchased my 1st DSLR and started getting into photography, so this was my first external flash - but I am happy to say that it was exactly what I was looking for. This speedlite had all of the features I was looking for; 90* vertical movement, 270* horizontal movement, built-in difussor + bounce card, and a good amount of flash-level settings (8 different settings). In my opinion, this is a very bright speedlite - even the lowest setting is a little too bright for some settings, but for this excellent price-point, I will just purchase a softbox diffusor for shots that I only need enough light to "fill in." Bottom Line: Great Flash, Great Features, I would purchase again.

This flash gets the job done well. Very adjustable and does well with battery drain. It WILL NOT trigger any screen adjustment/illumination on your viewfinder so be aware that shots in low light will come out significantly lighter than what you see on on the display before taking the picture. As a macro photographer this makes taking pictures with tiny aperture difficult but I work around it by leaving the pop up flash on my sony a6000 open and facing up. The picture attached was taken on a cloudy day with aperture all the way down to 12. Impressive and nice light i.m.o

This flash actually produce better results than the built in flash. Plus you can get creative and really make your photos pop. It will help you create professional quality results with very little effort. This is a must have for portrait photography. Your gonna love the results and your subjects will love how it accentuates there best features. Everyone who sees the results are surprised how it improves their appearance. Step up to the next level. Go for It. I am very happy with the results. Now Im the person people call when they want their image captured. What next? Fashion Photography.

Install Flash Player I bought two of these because theyre so inexpensive, but you get what you pay for with these. One wouldnt work, it would power up but then it would lock up and all the lights would just blink; like it was caught in a power-on self-test. The other flash works great and I can trigger it with my D90 in commander mode. They feel cheap , but I really cant expect anything better for the price and the one is working well. I returned the other and of course Amazon refunded the cost as soon as I dropped it off at the UPS. Would I buy again? Probably so since Amazon has such a great return policy and they refund quickly. I dont do a lot of photography with flashes which is why I went this route instead of buying Nikon or some of the other big brand names, but if you plan on using the flashes a lot I would recommend going with a better brand. *** UPDATE 11.11.2018 *** Because the price dropped, I decided to try one more and it didnt work either. Same problem as the last problem unit. I turned it on and all the lights stayed on and blinked, never stopped and never worked. Cheap, cheap, cheap! Ill never buy these again.
