Excellent full frame camera. Upgraded from the nikon d5200. All my photos are taken now with this camera and the nikon 50mm 1.8 lens (prime lens). Could be better in low light as you seem to get a little noise when you crank the iso up, but if you are planing to shoot when there is plenty of light you will get great images. If your planning on shooting in low light situations, like lots of weddings you should probably bump up to the d750. This camera fit my budget and was a wonderful buy, stepped up my game big time. 5 stars would recommend to others.

This camera is fantastic! So many features you could write a book on them for a very good price. Highlightes: dual slots for 2 memory cards, 24mp full frame FX sensor ( you could blow these pics up to billboard size ), 100% viewfinder coverage optical viewfinder, light weight for a well built, weather sealed semi pro camera, nice 3.2"LCD, great video capability1080/30p or 24p as well as 720/60,50&30p for slow motion or HD mpeg 4 avch, 6 frames per second continuous,Nikons great high ISO performance ISO 100 to 25,600.See the great online reviews by DPreview and Ken Rockwell for in depth specs and comparisons. Of course you must have good glass ( high end lenses) like Nikon 70-200mm f2.8, 50 f1.4 and 20-70mm f2.8 FX full size sensor type to get the maximum performance and results from this camera,

It works great. It seems so much more like the old film cameras I had. I hated the DX format, it was confusing and never looked right to me. I also find the colors to be more vibrant with this camera compared to my d90. The two lenses work great so far. They are quick and sharp as can be for zoom lenses. I cant wait for it to quit being 110 degrees so I can get outside and shoot. I do have to complain about the lousy packaging, Amazon. I purchased this plus accessories, which shipped separately. They were about $100 and came inside a box, inside another box, inside a final box, padding between each layer prevented the boxes inside from rolling around. The $3000 camera was many individual manufacturer boxes inside a Nikon kit box, inside a large brown box that was ill-fitting. I didnt see it when I signed as the UPS man handed it to me good side up, but the entire back end was dented and open, denting the inner Nikon box and one of the lens boxes as well. What the hell? There was about 1 foot of empty space in the big box that was "cushioned" by a piece of crumpled brown paper. Didnt work. The fed ex smaller package by contrast had packing peanuts and air pillows. The camera might as well have been shipped just in the Nikon boxes alone as nothing protected them. So far, nothing seems broken.

For what you pay, you receive an amazing sensor able to retain detail in a huge range of shadows and highlights. The controls and UI are logical and smooth. Great battery life, and dual SD card slots is a huge bonus. If i could ask for anything else, it would be: Higher continuous shooting rate 1080p video at 60 fps (30fps max) A swivel screen Other than those things it is perfect for my needs. I would argue the best value full frame camera. If youre looking to upgrade from your crop sensor, look no further.

I bought this body in 2014 (paid about $1,800) and about a year and a half later the shutter mechanism failed. Since it was out of warranty I had to front the $268 to repair it. So I thought, okay, the shutter count was 90,000, that seemed reasonable. While it was in for repair I thought well, I need another body so Ill just get another D610 so that I wouldnt need to buy any different type of batteries, and I already knew where all the settings were in this model. I get the new body, then I got the repaired one back and it worked fine. Im all set, right? Wrong! About 3 months later the 2nd bodys shutter mechanism also failed. This body only had a shutter count of about 9,000. NO WAY SHOULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED. Not happy! Yet, it was still under warranty so I just had to pay the shipping. I sent it in, it was repaired and I received it back. Fast forward 6 months....the shutter mechanism on the 1st repaired body FAILED AGAIN. Since NIkon only warranties their repair work for 3-6 months, I was once again facing a large repair bill! I initiated the repair work on their website and asked them if there was a known problem with this model, and instead of repairing it, should I invest in a CANON model? Not surprisingly, they didnt answer that. I followed up with a call and spoke to a representative and after pleading my case they took 20% off the repair bill. I was grateful for anything, but still shelled out about $240.00. I asked them if there were any known problems with the shutter mechanism on this model...they said no. Hmmm...... I now have 2 operating bodies, but who knows for how long?????? Other than that, I do love this camera!

I love this camera. I get great shots, it is durable, and easy to use once I figured out a couple tricks. I have had one issue lately where I snap a few in a row on continuous and it freezes. I cant turn it off and in order to live forward I have to actually pop the battery out and back in. Unfortunately when I do that then I lose that stream of pictures that it was trying to load. I have fast speed memory cards so I think it is the camera. Something that helped was turning the display off (preventing it from trying to show me every picture after I take it). I would love to see each photo after I take it to review lighting and composure but I would much rather be able to make it through a photoshoot with having to take my battery out. I think the camera is just thinking too hard to display them and quickly turn around and keep shooting. That trick has worked and I havent had a problem with it since

I’ve been using my D610 for about a year now and love it. Once I started doing weddings, I knew I had to make the jump to full frame. I upgraded from a D7100 and I love how it uses the same battery and memory card. It’s lightweight which I love too. On a personal note, I do wish I would’ve gone with the D750. It’s a little more expensive, but if you’re continuing to grow in photography and do weddings, I think it’s worth it.

Phenomenal camera... My last one was a D40x. This D610 feels like I just graduated. Much more capable, better functions, nicer controls, the list goes on. Im glad I started with that D40x as an entry level to learn on, while not wasting actuations. Even more happy to have chosen this superb D610 as my next step. Wouldnt recommend it for a beginner (too much camera and too much money). Just like I wouldnt buy a Ferrari for my 16 year old ;) Savvy photographers, however - dont pass go, dont collect $200... This is a great camera for me. I can point and shoot or get a little creative and explore the older art of photography. My camera is set up and aimed at the open field behind my house where I capture images of the abundant wildlife that feeds there (hunters and prey). Lens are a good mix for building a photography capability.

Beautiful magical camera. I love it so much. The quality of my work has gone up so much since I started working with this new camera. It is sharp in quality and amazing with lighting. I could not recommend it more.
