Just received this yesterday and started shooting today. My first Camera other than an iPhone so I am a 100% novice, but wanted something I could grow with. Amazing photo quality! I will post the first day photos I captured today, all on automatic setting. I did not change any settings and I must say I am amazed at how well this camera adjusts for shutter speeds and aperture size. The auto focus on both works amazingly well and I dont see the need for any other lens JUST yet. This bundle came with a software CD called viewNX2 and Im not sure what it does other than shading and cropping...havent really spent time on it yet, but I do like the fact that it shows every spec/dynamic of each photo that you take...ie...shutter speed / aperture / focus setting / ISO / where the focus points were! The Bag is well made with a handful of different size Velcro pieces to allow the user to compartmentalize the space how they see fit. The bird photo was at 300mm. And the picture of my girls was about 230 mm. The holly tree branch was at 55mm on the 18-55. Again I dont know enough about photography yet to go manual, so these were all point and shoot.

For the price, you can’t beat it without jumping to an FX sensor. The articulated screen is truly an unique feature that allows for shooting from any angle or perspective you can dream up. The inclusion of WiFi and gps is also incredible. The camera creates its own hotspot that you can sync with your phone to pull images/video off it. The 24 mega pixel DX sensor is more than sufficient. It can be shot at night with as high as 2000 iso before I could see grain. Night shooting is more than possible. It’s fun. The inclusion of a designated record button near the shutter release is also a unique and impressive feature. All said and done, this camera runs laps around the 3000 series and almost compares to the (early realsed) 7000 models. It may have a few less focus points than the 7000s, but it’s the same sensor. I chose it over the 7000 line because the articulated screen is simply an incredible feature. As someone accustomed to film photography, the ability to looks “down into the camera” or close the screen inside the body (removing any digital display) while shooting in ideal. It’s a solid DX DSLR and worth consideration of amateurs and professionals alike.

So far so good. I had a Nikon D5000 that got broken beyond repair and was looking for a replacement. Im grateful that Nikon makes their cameras compatible with all of their lenses (for the most part) because I didnt have to buy new lenses for this camera. It works well! I do like the old layout for the buttons on the D5000 better, but with more use I might change my mind. This camera came packaged and unopened, and new. It came with the manual, strap, all necessary cables, battery, and charger. You have to buy a memory card for it, which is inexpensive. I guess Im an intermediate photographer, even though my photography hobby started about 35 years ago with a 35 mm film camera and a lot of photography and dark room classes, and photographing a few weddings and senior portraits. Ive got a fairly strong knowledge of composition, light, ISO, aperature, and shutter speeds. Life got in the way and I didnt expand my hobby much, only using my cameras for snapping pictures of my family. Now Ive decided to dive in a little deeper and learn even more. I think this is the perfect camera for that and I believe it will be good for me for quite a few years. This feels very much like the D5000, but has more features and much better focusing. I like the way the menu for adjusting settings is set up. I was trying to decide between this one and the D7100 and dont feel like I am missing out by choosing this one instead. I like using manual settings a lot and changing the settings is fairly easy. Cant wait to play with it some more. I dont feel like this is a beginner camera because it is a good quality, but I believe a beginner could use it and learn all of its features with some reading and watching tutorial videos - or just playing around with it (but I think reading and watching tutorials will take you even further into knowing how it works and getting the best use from it).

This camera is AWESOME! It can do so much, it is good for a beginner and can be used for seasoned photographers as well. It is a great base. I bought a lightly used one from a certified seller for a great deal on Amazon. I got the camera, the 18-140 lens and a ton accessories for $600 so I would recommend looking at the used options on amazon if you do not want to pay full price. Also do not rush to buy everything at once. I have takes photos for a while now and most photographer upgrade certain parts as they need them. Do not feel like you need a complete kit with 3 lenses right off the bat (I only say this because I have a lot of accessories that I never use). If you are lazy like me and hate changing lens go for the 18-140 lens in the bundle or buy just the base and get the 55-300 lens that is even more versatile separately. Make sure any lens you buy is AF-S, if the price seems too good to be true the lens probably has no autofocus to work with this camera. I have had it now for several months and mostly shoot wildlife (birds). The auto settings on it are so good I rarely use and of the manual settings and can take great in flight pictures of birds.

This is clearly an outstanding camera. Pictures are crisp and clear. I bought an older one because I didnt need high end and am very happy with it. I think they are now up to the D5500 level, so this is a few years old. For me, who is only getting into photography, this is a great product. I also picked up a case and one of the newer super fast memory cards, but not the newest version. I will say that as fast as those cards are, you almost want faster. Takes a half second to store and ready for the next shot. I might try the super duper versions. The 24.2 mega pixels really comes through. I shoot a lot on my iPhone and the difference is clearly noticeable. Shots have much more detail and clarify. You can tell instantly what camera took a shot. Biggest win here for me is the multi focus. Its is amazing. Not only is it fast, but multiple items in each shot are focused and clear. Significant upgrade from a phone camera.

I spent a good couple months looking for cameras I thought would be an upgrade from my Nikon D60, without breaking the bank. I must have tested numerous cameras in store, but happened to find that the features of the D5300 meshed well with what I was doing. Im not a professional photographer at all, and I wouldnt even really classify as an enthusiast, but here are my observations from a layman. The shutter speed is quick, with much less time required between shots - flash or not - than the D60. You notice this especially under low light conditions. I primarily take photos in low light situations such as dinners and restaurants where the ambiance is generally romantic. I have little to compare this to aside from my D60, but it does appear colors are much more vibrant, and the addition of having a liveview screen is nice. I wanted to use this for video too, but I have yet to really delve into taking quality videos with this. I have a video camera that seems much more reliable when it comes to focusing, and pan speed. That being said, I have very limited knowledge on using this as a video camera, and Im sure with additional usage Ill get better at it. Overall Im extremely happy with my purchase.

Been waiting to upgrade from the D5100 which has been terrific in itself. Have been apprehensive in the upgrade for the specifications are significant I have put it off. Now the good old D5100 is good (& worn) and the D5300 being new, (along with a price drop since the roll out of the D5600) So, I purchased a body only for all the DX lens and accessories sync right into my usage. Glad I waited and glad I have bought something of improvement. Wi-Fi, GPS, 24.4 meg, Sharper images and a smaller, lighter body and I win! In addition, now I have an additional battery & charger. Rocs Shop as the Amazon dealer was also terrific receiving my camera in less than 35 hours! In addition, today I used the camera and its new layout of controls and on-screen menus are greatly appreciated and already have become second nature. The wi-fi connection to my LG android does work and didnt take to much to set-up. Still looking around for the perfect app for this etc.

I love this camera! Ive had it for about half a year now, and it works perfectly for the style of pictures I take. It takes high quality photos without a $2,000+ price tag, and there are a lot of different lenses you can get to experiment with different styles. I would absolutely recommend it to beginners or intermediate photographers who are on a budget. I attached some photos Ive taken as examples of how Im using it. I have a Tamron 70-300 macro lens, and a Micro-NIKKOR 40 mm f/2.8G I use quite often.

I really like this camera. The D5300 has far more functions than I can take advantage of, but I am learning as I go. I have the camera set to Manual, so I must choose all the settings (ISO, shutter speed, Aperture etc.) myself, There are a ton of pre-programmed functions that you can take advantage of, and if you go that route you will take great pictures, and not understand how photography works. I choose to go the other way, so I have to learn the fundamentals. Either way is valid. The camera takes great pictures, and I am using it as I acquire lenses, and to learn the hobby before getting a more professional setup. I chose the D5300 over the D5500 as it is cheaper, and I dont really need the options of the D5500 for the additional price. Quite happy with the purchase

I had a passion for photography since high school. 2years of classes. Where I fell in love with photography The Camera though is very great. Once I got my lens. The photos I took were crystal clear. Right now I only have the one lens. Still waiting on my zoom lens. Im looking forward to doing nature shots animal shots. But so far all the photos ive taken came out perfect. My only downside is the wifi isnt simple. I got it to connect to my phone but really wanted it to be on my desktop. If I figure out the computer wifi thing Ill leg you know or if you know please help me figure that out But yes overall I would highly recommend this camera to anyone if your willing to learn all the features the device had to lffer
