awesome near perfect.. but could use less plastic. feels cheap and not Nikon from by gone era. bought it to replace aging Canon EOS T1i and 20D. all three are good but D3300 offers 24 megs of great imagery !!! Ken Rockwell rocks. keep it simple he says.. JPEG is good enough Do you need better... better spend some3 thousand more !! I have a Nikon D1x.. brute when it was used 8 years ago !!! but heck manual is not manual anymore after I gave up my Nikon F2 with motordrive.. D3300 on vivid and all auto great... then used with vivitar 285 HV or Metz 45 CL4 digital flash on manual settings AWESOME.. AWESOME .. AWESOME . normal photog wont print to 40 x 50 ft from 35mm Kodachrome 25 but heck sure feels like i was shooting with my 105 micro and 85 macro lenses on F1 Canon and my beast F2 Nikon. If you dont have Kens brain for manually optimizing a set or environment or the 3k or 5k to burn... to take pictures of family and friends... use 500 dollars look good when you send copies of your photos taken with the D3300.. PERIOD

Getting back into SLR camera years after I stopped using my 35mm film Nikon EM. Digital SLRs are a learning experience but took my new D3300 to Scotland and just loved the camera and the results. Probably deleted 2 of every 3 photos I took, but I was experimenting and expected some mistakes. Wish I had purchased the camera with the 18-140mm lens (which I did buy on my return). Carrying two lenses was a pain and difficult to change in the damp, wet Scottish weather. For my purposes, a single walk-around lens is a better choice, but for others the 18-55mm and 55-200mm pair that was in this package might be great.

Im really sad to see that due to some strange laws this isnt a "video" camera so its limited to 20 minute recordings, it doesnt give any kind of sound or warning if it stops or runs out of memory or anything, not even a little light or something? come on. It also doesnt have a flip out screen. that said the video quality is AMAZING. especially at 1080/60p! any action shot will look great especially with the Vibration reduction on the lenses. I wish the 18-55 zoomed in a little more because the 55-200 requires you to be INSANELY further away to even focus. its definitely made for very far away shots, even though the zoom would be perfect! I wouldnt reccomend this purely for video recording as I got it for, but for casual videos and mainly pictures, this is amazing!
