This is an excellent entry level DSLR, especially at a "last years model" price. Mine even shipped with the collapsable 18-55 mm kit lens (which appeared to be the most appreciable difference between the D3200 and D3300). The controls are intuitive and clearly labeled. While I dont have the experience to speak as to the image quality of this camera versus a more expensive DSLR, it certainly has all of the features I was looking for to make my leap into manual exposure photography. The only complaint I have with this camera is that the user manual is not incredibly helpful if youre looking for a specific feature (i.e. I still have not found out if you can access exposure compensation in full manual mode). That said, its plenty for leaning the basics of the camera. Plus, there are several good videos and guides online to help learn some of the more advanced features.

This being my first SLR camera I have learned a lot from just a little playing around. I would strongly suggest watching a few introductory videos on YouTube to get used to the functions. However, this camera package packs a lot in to a a cheaper price. Highly recomend a tripod for new photographers. Hope this helps!

This is probably one of the best cameras in its class. It works great for the beginner and is capable of growing with you as you gain confidence with photography and with the camera itself. When this first arrived I was overwhelmed by all of the buttons. I never thought I would learn them. After reviewing the included literature once I feel reasonably confident on playing with some manual settings. It takes phenomenal pictures in auto "point-and-shoot" mode and has several auto/manual modes that seemed to be designed to take you from "what is a DSLR?" to "I think a lower F-stop would really bring out her eyes." The pictures in fully automated mode are vivid, crisp and well-exposed for just about any subject in nearly any lighting condition. My cellphone camera takes pictures that make me look like a manic gorilla but this camera makes me look like a professional.

After ALOT of research, I decided to purchase this camera as my first DSLR! Taking pictures is something I truly enjoy but I wanted to go beyond the regular digital cameras, and my iPhone. One of my biggest concerns was that my iPhone might take better pictures. Through my research I had read a lot of articles saying to not waste your money on DSLR cameras because, the iPhone camera is even better. I didnt believe this to be true, but it was still on the back of my mind since I wanted to move up from the iPhone camera. Anyways, my camera came in and I could not be more pleased. It has met all of my expectations and it takes amazing pictures. I will be taking my camera up to new Hampshire with me this weekend while I hike and I am so excited. Since I am a beginner, I would say that this camera is great for noobies! I do suggest however while waiting for it to ship, watch some youtube videos and study up on it. If you are truly passionate about taking good photos, there is a lot to learn. Its a camera you can easily pick up and use, but, theres so much more to the camera than just "auto" mode! Here are the youtube videos I have watched and have found very helpful! When you get the camera and un pack it, be sure to take a peak at the different pieces that came with it and where they go. Then I suggest you follow the steps in this video! It was super helpful for me! [...] How to work with shutter speeds and its cause and effect! (This was fun to experiment with) [...] More in depth how to work with shutter speeds (with our camera) [...] This video is for creative photo techniques [....] There are so much more, but here are the ones I have so far played around with!

After being a professional wedding photographer for over 23 years. (retired now) Using a heavy 35 mm manual camera and miles of film.... This Nikon D3200 was my first choice for a digital SLR updated camera. Being fairly new to "digital" SLR. I caught on to the instructions pretty fast since its almost the same as it used to be on my old camera. The concept and rules of photography didnt change.... I found that using this camera was pretty easy after going through the instruction book, plus trial and error, just taking photos with the camera. This camera has all the features that I would use.... even has a photo editor in the menu... color enhancer, crop, red eye corrector, change photo to black and white, even has a star filter add in... warming or cooling effect, lots of added stuff.. I used to do in the darkroom with color prints, manually. This camera comes with a lens 18 to 55 mm witch to me is a great small zoom lens, but it wouldnt be my prime lens. I would use a straight 35 mm for all around use, can use the lens in much lower light without a flash, and the 18 to 55 mm for other things like family gatherings where you dont have to step around to get your shot, just zoom in or out to make the frame fit the subject being photographed. The camera has a pop up flash witch is real handy and easy to use, good for about ten to twelve feet. Notice the flash is slightly higher then the lens. You are more then likely going to get red eye pretty easy if the subject looks at the camera lens while being photographed ... The fix is having a TTL. external, dedicated flash on the hot shoe that bounces off the ceiling ....much better results. My research home work paid off, I believe ..... I was looking at the D3300 newer camera model, and the specs. didnt change much, but the price went up for the newer model... so I saved about sixty bucks buying the older model camera. The D3200 started new add ons after the D3100 like one I noticed, would be the wireless controller remote shutter ML-L3 Buying the VR lens was worth the extra money. They do sell this without the VR lens.... for less $. You need V R on your lens, when you use any kind of zoom lens..... Keeps the vibration down for less blurring on slower shutter speeds or fast moving objects. VR = Vibration Reducer Overall This Nikon D3200 was my First choice for an all around SLR camera..... Once you get your SLR camera in your hands, your pretty much will be commented to it. Then it starts to be a collection of "products to fit" and add on to the camera. Since you can do so much more being creative photography with this camera, over a point and shoot camera. I gave this 5 Stars.

Ive had this camera for a little over a year and I can say hands down its one of the best cameras I have ever owned! Im a self-employed videographer that recently entered the world of professional photography. Being on a small budget as an aspiring photographer, I find that this camera perfectly meets my needs, earning me some good quality photos and income without costing me a fortune. At first, I was an average camera user until my regular digital camera died on me. At that time, I was asked by clients if I do photography and so I said yes, and from there, I taught myself professional photography in just a few weeks on this wonderful Nikon series camera. Whats amazing is that Ive bought this Nikon D3200 and using this for the first time, I must say it made a great first impression on me. PERFORMANCE: 5/5 Nikon D3200 features great image quality with 24.2MP and a great ISO. It has a pretty fast shutter speed and it is great to be able to switch between manual and automatic controls. Image quality: 5/5 Overall, good image depending on the lighting environment. Photo quality is great under a well-lit atmosphere using the built-in flash but I recommend using an external flash. Images arent quite Paparazzi-worthy but the photos this camera takes will blow you away, nonetheless. Its a great camera for a first-time photographer looking to get their start as a professional. Id recommend you use more than just the stock included OEM camera lens. I recommend zoom lenses and fish-eye lenses for this camera to create more eye-catching stunning photos. This camera is great for the beginner and intermediate, alike. But if you want to go bigger, do so. If youre a full-blown professional, more than likely, youll buy a more expensive camera. The average price of this camera currently at the time of writing this review is $300. Professionals usually invest $900+ in their camera. But cost isnt everything. Each photographer must carefully consider a camera not just because its high price but consider image quality and other functionality. BATTERY LIFE: 5/5 Battery life is impressive, to my standards. But as with anything, battery life always depends how much a device is used and what settings are used. Usually, I use this camera for weddings and receptions. I take an average of 300-500 photos per event day so using the camera from 1PM until about 11PM, Im able to use this camera the entire event day without charging the factory OEM battery. (*Note: I usually do not use the flash for about 100 photos, as they are outdoor daylight photos. The rest of the photos are indoor photos.) WHATS NOT SO GREAT: Small minor issue but I wish that DSLRs like these featured internal memory storage, instead of just relying on only external SD cards.

Purchased as refurbished, been using it now for several months without a single issue. Takes great photos, and as a camera to transition from point-and-shoot to full on DSLR to learn proper photography, its superb! It does have a fully auto mode for those a bit nervous about going full manual, and for those experienced photographers I think this camera would be a nice addition as well. It doesnt have some of the flexibility as more advanced cameras, but I was able to purchase this camera with two refurbished lenses (18-55mm & 55-200mm), a nice carrying case, a modest set of filters with a lens hood, and an extra battery for $500. I considered going with the newer D3300, but in comparing the two I didnt see enough of a difference to warrant the higher price for the newer model. All in all, Im very happy with this camera.

I bought this camera for my fundamental photography class after looking all over Amazon and other online sources. WIth that being said I absolutely love this camera. Its build quality is that of any other good DSLR that Ive used, and I can already tell that with proper care and maintenance this camera should last me a lifetime. Also, for this price Im incredibly happy with both the lenses. The primary lenses that I use s the 15-55mm lens that has the VR on it, and I can tell you that you can achieve some amazing things with that lens when used properly. Also, the second lens that comes with this kit is extremely good for portraiture among other things that you would typically use long lenses for. however, I really wished that I had the Vibration Reduction on the longer lens rather than the shorter lens due to the shake you naturally get without a tripod with the longer lens. This is fine however, as long as you use this lens properly and learn what this camera can do this small fact isnt all that much of an issue at all. Overall, Ive been told by my professor that a lot of my photos Ive taken with this camera are professional grade, and there are many cameras that arent as good as this one thatre still being used in the professional setting. If youre a student and you want the best bang for your buck then I think youve found it, but if youre not looking to use this camera for a potential career then you can definitely get away with being much cheaper. On a side note, if you dont know much about cameras and this is your first time buying a DSLR make sure to do a lot of research and at least have a vague idea of what you like to take photos of. This camera really suits me in the way that its very good at portraiture with its high MP, but also amazing at action photography. If youre looking for only using it for portraiture and arent interested in doing any photography of moving things I think youd be better suited with a Cannon DSLR due to their better lenses overall.

I definitely had a dilemma when it came to buying this camera. One of the Top Selling Amazon dslr cameras was another competitor and so I naturally wanted to purchase that one, but after doing exhaustive research from various websites and critic reviews. This camera has been rated as better over some of the closer competitors. Nikon has great lenses, and I like that the shutter body does everything I want and more. The 18-55mm lens that I purchased with the camera does everything I need, and whenever I want to upgrade, it will be nice knowing that I just need to get the lens and it will connect to the camera. I would love to write a more exhaustive review, but Im unfortunately a novice and would not be able to describe the camera fluently. All I can say is I love it and it works great!
