I recently purchased this entry level DSLR to learn more about photography and to improve my skills and below is my full review. Pros: 1. Image Quality: The 24.2MP sensor provides sharp and crispier images compared to other entry level models 2. Touch screen Interface: The touch screen interface is a nice to have in a camera and toggling through images is seamless and easy. The large touch screen really helps to adjust Aperture and shutter settings and the flip out feature is cool as well. 3. SnapBridge: Transfer of files from the Camera to the device is seamless through SnapBridge although I haven’t tried using Snap Bridge for remote capture. Cons: 1. Image Stabilization: There is no image stabilization in this camera. There is a possibility for the images to shake a bit here and there. This was a problem for me when I tried to shoot in low light during sunset and sunrise. 2. No Autofocus Motor: This camera doesn’t have the autofocus motor in it’s body which means that I need an AF-S lens instead of an AF. I was looking to buy the Nikon 50 mm f/1.8G and there was a $90 difference in price between the AF-S and AF models. I can still use the AF lens and manually focus but I don’t want to shoot fast moving objects using manual focus. Final Verdict: There are so many other features which the D5600 offers and I would say the pros outweigh the cons. I would definitely recommend this camera for people who are looking to purchase their first DSLR. Even though it might be pricier for an entry level model, if you can afford it and then go for it.

The only drawback to this camera is the very short battery life of the rechargeable battery. I had to buy a back up. For the price, this camera has an amazing variety of features that help even a beginning photographer take great pics. I bought this to replace my old Nikon D40, which had finally conked out after 10 years of heavy use (more than 80,000 photos). The battery that came with the D40 held a charge much better, even after 10 years, so I would like to see Nikon come back with a better battery that can be used for longer periods of time. Just taking 200-300 pictures will wipe this battery out. Favorite features: large, adjustable touch screen; special effects; easier on-camera editing; video mode; ability to sync with smart phone.

Great camera and a long awaited upgrade to my aging Nikon D90. So easy to use touch screen. Snapbridge works smoothly with my iPhone 6s. US-market item with full USA warranty. Fast, light, takes great pictures and is easy to use. Loving it so far! I bought the kit with the 18-55VR lens and the whole shebang is light, fast, easy to maneuver. Just an excellent camera for when the phone isnt enough.

I order the D5600 DX-Format Digital SLR w/AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR for my upcoming Birthday. I also order the extra accessories I wanted (tripod, bag, extra battery, a 128gb SD card). All arrived within one to two days and is exactly what I ordered. A lot of research went into deciding on this camera, I looked at the Nikon D3500,D7500, Cannon EOS T6 and T7i just to name a few. For me (more then a beginner but not a Pro) the D5600 camera body and lens package is what I was looking for. The Nikon Snapbridge app was fast and easy to install on my Android phone and located my camera via WiFi and Bluetooth (yes the camera has both) without a hitch. There are also plenty of great tutorials out there for this camera. I highly recommend this package for either beginners or for those like me, jumping back into photography and wanting to hit the ground running.

This is a relatively "inexpensive" Nikon model, but both the camera and the 18-400mm lens exceeded my expectations. The colors are deep and rich, and the pictures are sharp. Several of my amateur photographer friends thought I had gotten a Leica. Its relatively light in weight, and the battery life is very decent. Now the weaknesses - there is noticeable vignetting when zoomed in at a large aperture setting, and the LCD screen does not render color accurately when you use it either as a viewfinder or to view pictures taken. For connecting to smartphone wirelessly, it is nearly useless! Connections fail all the time. Snapbridge is a really poor piece of software. I use a 3rd party iphone to SD card pigtall adapter instead which does the job of transferring photos from the camera to the iphone beautifully. So the wireless part of the camera is nearly a waste. But if your focus is on photo quality, it is more than satisfactory.

My first DSLR at this price point. So far I’m very happy! I went back-and-forth, between Nikon, and Canon. But after reading many DSLR reviews, I settled on the D5600, and I’m very glad that I did. It will take some time to learn all the features on this camera, and some more time to get to use all of them effectively. However, that’s why I bought this camera. I wanted a good quality DSLR to take my first step into more than “beginner” photography. All the pictures I have taken so far have been very Impressive. This camera is a breeze to use. I definitely believe “I chose wisely”!
