The Rebel line of Canons has produced some incredible cameras such as the T3. These are considered "budget" or beginner DSLRs but in actuality, they are packed with features and unless you are a pro, you wont need much more in a DSLR. They also have the ability to take video. There is a T5 and a T5i and its not easy to tell what the differences are. CAREFUL! They are not the same, and the T5 is less expensive, though certainly a GREAT "entry level" DSLR. (Digital single lens reflex--a camera you can change lenses to add a telephoto or a wide angle lens like the pros do.) The MAIN difference between the two is in the screen resolution: 460,000 dots for the T5 vs 1,040,000 dots in the T5i. Thats a big difference. If you do a lot of video, the T5i would be better. You can blow up your pictures on the screen much larger. Another screen difference: the T5i swivel screen is better for video (swings out like a video camera.) The touch screen makes manual settings a breeze. The T5 has a fixed screen like the T3. The T5 is lighter (480g or 0.94lbs vs 580g or 1.27lbs) Doing a lot of low-light work? The ISO range of the T5i is larger: T5 100 - 12,800 vs T5i 100 - 25,600 The T5 has about 100 shots MORE of battery life than the T5i. If you are shooting a lot of video with a DSLR, youll probably want the T5i. If you are shooting a lot of low-light, you may also want the T5i. If you want a very light camera, with more battery life and to save some money, the T5 is excellent. If you dont do video AT ALL, the T3 is cheaper still, and has more battery life and is an ounce lighter. The video resolution on the T5 is better than the T3 and there is an auto-contrast detection. Summary: Video and still shooters--T5i is best, T5 is good. T3 is best for still shots and is cheaper, has more battery life.

I got this camera to take pictures of space. I wasnt disappointed. A relatively inexpensive DSLR, and it still does absolutely everything I need. My only gripe is that the battery takes a long time to charge, and then doesnt last all that long. Its a refurbished camera, so maybe thats a factor. I also subject the poor thing to long periods of continuous use in cold outdoor temperatures, so take from that what you will. I will include some of my best photos taken with this camera - and with a bit of processing applied to them, of course. The images speak for themselves what this thing is capable of. Edit: more images

Just got it today. Ordered this item that was sold as the Rebel T5. When it arrived it was in a Canon PowerShot VIXIA box, with a Rebel T6 inventory sticker. The camera inside is a Rebel T6, so I guess I got a better camera. I do not believe this is a brand new camera though. It seems to be in perfect condition but it was in the wrong box and the LCD screen on the back did not have one of those protective plastic covers. It came with everything it was supposed to and had a manual still in plastic. The camera seems to operate fine. Im new to photography so I will update this review later once I learn how to use the camera.

Picked this thing up used with the kit lens about a month ago, mainly because Im tired of looking at blurry cell phone pictures. I didnt plan on making this a hobby but Im hooked. The pictures come out so clear its like youre still there. All the settings are simple enough, it only took me a few hours to learn what everything does (this is my first dslr). I wouldnt recommend getting this for videos because of the lack of mic jack. As far a pictures go you wont find anything better for less then 300 bucks

I bought this for photography class and it is a very good model for camera beginners. As a long time user of simple digital cameras and first-timer to more serious photography, I was intimidated by the seemingly endless options and adjustments these bigger models seemed to have. But this model had an intuitive interface and was easy to learn and understand. I was able to take some great pictures for the class of both still life and moving subjects. It also comes with a strap that makes it easy to carry around and the battery lasts for a long time. I didnt use the flash function much as I didnt need it most of the time, and adjustment of the other settings were often enough to achieve the results I wanted. Overall, a decent, solid camera for most levels of photography and certainly a great starting piece.

I got this camera as a gift and it is honestly so nice!! It takes awesome pictures and comes with a disc that you can put in your computer to touch up photos! Also takes great action shots with no blur. Such a great camera and easy to work! Comes with everything but an sd card and case but still very great and highly recommended!!!

Bought this for my wife as an early birthday present. She has some photography ambitions but not a lot of professional experience and we found this, which has the potential to be very high-level (SLR so can switch out lenses and whatnot), but the auto settings allow her to take great pictures right now. She absolutely loves it and it takes awesome pictures. We bought a certified refurbished and honestly you wouldnt be able to tell.
