If you have little kids, do yourself a favor and buy a DSLR. It doesnt have to be a T5i (could be a T4i or T3i) but you will see a marked improvement in the quality of your pictures even if you use it as a point and click (which is mostly how i use it). yes, i am not taking advantage of all the functionality but i really didnt buy it for that. i used to use regular point and clicks but the pictures came out like garbage. in low light, the flash would totally light up the object in the front and everything in the back would be super dark. this thing takes care of all that. I love this product! Easy to use. Image quality is awesome.

Happy with the purchase except for the following: 1. The 18-55mm lens is disturbingly loud during autofocus. Forget about ever shooting home video with this lens on. 2. The autofocus in low light takes forever and many times does not lock on at all. I learnt to use the manual focus on both the 18-55mm and 55-250mm lens but it has been a hit and miss so far. I am not knowledgeable enough to know if the autofocus in low light is a problem of the lens or the camera. My first DSLR. Regardless, from an end user experience and expectation point of view, I had to knock off a star. Bought this on a terrific deal from amazon where they had the camera and 18-55mm lens at normal price and had 150 off the 55-250mm lens. A free camera bag and 16GB SD card sweetened this deal further. Got the package for $200 less than you would normally find it. Great deal from Amazon. The free SD card was out of stock so I had to reach out to an Amazon service rep on the phone to get credit for the same card from another link on their site. He was quick and courteous. Thanks Amazon!

Im totally an amateur picture taker and have no comments on all the features which it has ALOT of. its fast and the pictures are the most awesome. the auto function during video can be kind of loud but its HD video...seriously its nice. we have a SDXC 64GB card in it (yes you HAVE to have a card) and it holds more than enough video and pictures for our family and is pretty darn fast. the Walmart in our town doesnt have a machine that can read it though to get pictures printed off but our new Dell computer can read them and its awesome...otherwise have to use the cable. pictures are hard to send through email cause they are HUGE files..or im not tech savvy enough to send them an easier way to family and friends. still love this camera... again the pictures are awesome!!

This is my first DSLR purchase and without a doubt i couldnt be happier with my purchase.Everything about this camera from the ease of the touch screen to the quality of the pictures is great amazing to me. Ive never been familiar with DSLRs although this camera made me want to learn everything there is to know about generating an amazing picture. Im an avid photographer, no where near professional but this camera make me feel as though i am. If anyone is looking for an entry level DSLR to play around with and have a couple extra dollars to spend without a doubt i would recommend this camera to you. I did purchase the camera with the 18-55 mm lens which i though was great although didnt zoom in enough for me so i went ahead and purchased the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM (which i do wish i did before hand, would have saved me 200 dollars), this lens is amazing and almost no noise when focusing. I would say if your going to get the T4i purchase the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens set, you would be much more happy with your purchase and the camera will last you a very long time.

I have used several other DSLR cameras but nothing compares to this. This camera is packed with tons of features and depends on which setting you have the camera in is whether you can mess with them or not. For example, if in auto mode, you cannot change much at all. The other awesome feature is the touch screen. The screen has a button with a Q on it, stands for quick access if I recall, which is used to mess around with several features. And the greatest feature, to me and any beginner photographer, is the helpful hints. Hit the Q to change a setting, then click on what you want to change. This will then pop up a small window to tell you what this feature does. Of course this does mean you have to click twice to change a setting, but wait, if these information pop ups get annoying, you can just go into the menu and turn them off. Another feature, which is outlined in the product description, is the HDR Backlight. All I can say is that this works exactly as described. Accessing this mode is just a simple mode switch on the dial. You can also have some fun with this if you are shooting a live subject, a person or animal or such, and create ghosting. This happens since this mode takes 3 photos in a row and than compiles them together. There is still much that I am learning about this camera. There is just so many features to discover. I have not even touched the video mode as of yet. The live view I am still figuring out as well. But if you are thinking of buying a camera, this one is a great buy. And if you have any concerns, feel free to comment or message me and I will give you more information.

I shoot mostly nature and animals shots and recently upgraded from the Canon XS to the Canon T4i. The T4i has been a splendid camera to use, I have taken numerous photos inside a dark home to have them come out appearing like bright daytime photos, photos taken outdoors in the evening appear to have been taken at dusk. The DIGIC Imaging processor produces stunning results. I highly recommend this camera for both the novice to the professional who is taking nature and outdoor shots. I have been told that Nikon is superior for portrait photography due to Canons odd handling of the yellow color in images. Honestly I have not found this to be true on the T4i and have enjoyed the portraits we have taken with the T4i. We also found an adapter ring here on Amazon so Nikon lenses fit onto our Canon T4i body. Perfect!

The Kit 18-55mm lense performs well but zooming is like sandpaper. Maybe the lense will break in but I bought the other STM kit lense after trying the 18-55.. 18-135 lense is smooth and quiet but heavier than the 18-55. I am very happy with the T4i. My previous camera was a Rebel 350 purchased a while back. I am pleased with the workmanship and very lucky all items work well, avoiding returns. Canon have made using the camera eaSY to understand and many creative possibilities are opened up. I cant say much on the 18-55 I received except e-bay. Buying the STM lens restored my confidence. AMAZON Prime got the package here in 2 days. Again, the 18-55 is only for days youre positive nothing can go wrong. I bought a pancake, yet to arrive. The medium price of the T4i makes buying good Canon lenses for it more reasonable. I dont do movies, yet, probably wont. Thanks Edit: I bought another for work. I am amazed at the body mechanics and the possibility of just concentrating on my vision instead of using my zone system card. For the current Amazon price, whats to wait for? The 18-55 zoom has proven me wrong, the phots are very good. This outfit is more than enough for picture takers. Try the 40 mm stm prime, allows your talent to flow unrestricted thru the camera. Canon only gurantees this body and lense for a year. Canon doesnt think highly of the quality of its gear, never the less, get going!

I took this camera to Greece and received nothing but compliments on the photos it took from everyone on my tour. Im happy that this package came with a lens. I also purchased the 55-250mm lens. Both lens were used on this trip. When you want to capture views of mountains and landscape, the 18-55mm lens worked best. However, when you want to capture details of carvings on the Parthenon (ex Dionysus), you will want to have the 55-250mm lens. I found that both the camera and lens are great together. I only had trouble capturing some flamingos that were located at the salts in Mytilini. I was able to photograph them however the picture is not very detailed since they were about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile away from me and I could not move any closer. I think this type of photograph requires a special lens that a lot of bird watchers use.

I purchased this camera because i want to take more professional looking pictures. every year i go to someplace new, and when last year i took my old camera, the standard point and shoot digital cameras, the pictures were horrible. Ive had the camera for 6 years and it shot ok pictures, but last year it just sucked. developing the pictures, turks and caicos did not look like i remembered it, so i said to myself: i could go and buy another point and shoot camera or get a more professional camera and get some great pictures and be able to do some great editing with it. I chose the latter, this year im going to italy, and i bet i will take better pictures. Im learning how to use all the features so when i go this summer, ill be better with it. ill do another review when i use it to its full potential.

I bought the T4i after a lot of research. I had an advanced point-and-shoot previously, and had pretty much pushed it to its limit. The logical choice was to move to an entry-level DSLR. I have been thrilled with the T4i so far. The articulating touchscreen is great, and the menus are very user friendly. The quality is very impressive for the price. It feels absolutely solid and durable. Ive learned a lot about advanced photography since buying the T4i, but I see no foreseeable need to upgrade to a more expensive camera. It does everything I want for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend investing in a model-specific reference book instead of relying on the owners manual. I bought "Canon EOS Rebel T4i For Dummies" and it really helped me get the most out of the camera. You will not be disappointed with this camera unless you are expecting a $3000 camera for $700.
