This is my first ever DSLR. Ive been using it since March for YouTube videos. Its so much easier to use than what it seems. There are tons of tutorial videos on YouTube on how to use it. Its not huge but it works amazing. I should at 1080P 60 fps and my favorite things about it is the dual focus and auto focus. The auto focus is amazing and the dual focus blurs your background a bit. Love the manual mode, love the screen that flips out so I can see myself when recording. Theres just nothing that I dont like about it! Ive only taken a couple pictures indoors and they look great too! My order came with the body, lens, battery charger, strap and probably something else that I cant quite remember.

I got the EOS Rebel SL2 mainly because of its external microphone port. So far, everything OK. But it will never be a camera that will ignite passion and loyalty. When the 18-55 mm lens is attached, it is plain ugly. Every piece of the camera feels cheap and plastic-y, down to the lens caps. With 1:4-5.6 , the zoom lens is just so, so. (If you care for looks: Beware when you get the white model. The zoom extension will come out black. Then it looks like a black stove pipe protruding from a grey lens mantle). Dials and buttons are on the tiny side. The menu is overloaded, not much difference from other DSLRs. Famous Canon simplicity does not come through. The live-view monitor swings out just to the side (can be flipped to face forward), but cannot be operated in situ at the back of the camera. This seems outdated. On the plus side: The camera fits well into ones hand. Verdict: A camera in the affordable spectrum for Youtubers and social-media-posters (mainly video use because of the important microphone option). For photography, I prefer Fuji.

This is my 1st DSLR. I had my eye on Sony A6000 for 2 straight months and until i found out that Sl2 is out. Began comparing and found that the video and image quality are totally the same on both. But below are the reasons why i pulled the trigger on Sl2. - Fully articulating and touch screen! WoW! Not so on the A6000. - Most Canon lenses are way cheaper than the Sony Lenses. (Seriously, the 50mm 1.8 Sony lens is almost double the price of a Canon 50mm 1.8) - Even when the buffer is full you can still use the camera while the A6000 completely locks down until the buffer clears. - Dual Pixel auto focus. - And finally, no sensor overheating. Sony A6, A7 series still has sensor overheating issue after a certain period of video recording. I bought the 50mm f1.8 prime instead of the kit lenses. The body of Sl2 is NOT metal. Its very light and almost as compact as a mirrorless camera. Really happy with the Camera! Here are some Amature pics with normal room lighting. UPDATE 15-Jan-2018 I just purchased a 3rd party battery for this camera and guess what? They work just as normal as the original battery. I didnt get any warning sign pop up message. Fantastic!!!

The initial reason I bought this camera was for YouTube. I did a lot of research on the best budget camera for 1080P 60FPS and ended up looking at the SL2. All the professional reviews I read and watched (like the review by Chris Winter) said that this was a great camera for the price and was an excellent choice for beginner to intermediate photographers. I am very new to photography and this is my first DSLR. In the two months Ive had this, Ive never regretted this purchase once. Now whenever there is a possibility of being in a location where I could take some cool pictures, I take my camera with me. I get so excited when I get to use it. Pros- The included kit lens is a steal. I feel the 18-55mm focal range is great for a beginner photographer. Gives you the ability to zoom without quality loss and at the current price, its only $100 more than just the body. I didnt realize how expensive lenses are, so $100 for a decent lens is crazy good. The Feature Assistant. This feature is great for people who are learning about photography. Using the dial to switch to different modes will show a basic screen on the LCD showing how different setting affect the outcome of your picture. LCD autofocus. When using the LCD screen, the dual-pixel auto-focus is really good at tracking faces. REALLY GOOD. Battery life. Now, I cant compare this to other cameras as Ive never owned another one, but after about 700ish pictures and some video, the battery meter still shows 50%. The battery life exceeded expectations. Small and lightweight. Again, nothing to compare this too, but this is very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. The body and kit lens together weight less than two pounds. Picture quality. Right now, the pictures Im taking arent the best as Im still learning, but despite that Im really loving the quality of what I take. Ive also seen what professionals have taken with this camera and its great. Touch focus. When Ive taken some b-roll video of inanimate objects, sometimes the auto focus has a hard time settling on one thing, causing it to blur for a split second while it redetermines where it should focus. You can easily touch the screen where you want it to focus and it will stay focused on that spot even if you move the camera around a bit. Video quality. Now, this doesnt do 4K, so that might be a con for some people, but Im perfectly fine shooing at 1080P. I prefer to record at 60FPS as well, which this camera does quite well. Besides the auto-focus getting a bit goofy sometimes when filming objects instead of people, it still does a great job. Very happy with the quality and with a lower aperture lens, Im sure the quality would be even better. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I use this all the time to transfer pictures to my phone either to see how well my photos are turning out or to quickly edit photos and upload them to social media from my phone. This has been a more useful feature than I thought it would be. LCD screen. From what I saw when looking for a camera to buy, most of the cameras had a fixed screen or didnt have a touchscreen. The SL2 has both a touchscreen and an adjustable screen. This is very handy when you are vlogging or trying to use the screen at an angle where you normally wouldnt be able to see the screen. The touchscreen also is nice and has helped me from transitioning from taking pictures on my phone to using a DSLR. The kit lens. This is a great lens to get with this body if youre a beginner. Even though the aperture is a bit high for my taste( I shoot a lot in low lighting), it gives you the ability to zoom and take great pictures from a farther distance or shoot close ups without having to change lenses. For $100 extra, its a steal. Cons- Kit lens F Stop. Not a huge con since this lens was only $100 extra with the body, but the lens isnt the best for low-light shooting. Built-in mic. The built in mic start having major issues when the noise levels start getting loud. Also not the greatest mic. Bought an external mic which handled audio much better. To be honest, I cant think of a lot of cons and thats probably because this is my only experience with more professional grade cameras. I have really enjoyed using this camera and it has gotten me very excited to learn so I can take full advantage of the hardware.

This is for me the best cost x benefit camera out there, It does not record in 4K thats why the 4 stars, but other than that really simple to use and a great improvement over my old Canon EOS D500

Very nice for the price. The pros list is far longer than the cons list, so here are some cons. Awkward mic input position Not the best low-light, but I just use soft boxes and such SD card and battery slot together on the bottom of the camera, must remove some types of quick release plates to charge/ingest Battery life is ok, but I like to shoot RAW photos and 1080p 60fps which drains the battery pretty quickly

One star off only because the batteries run short (OEM are expensive, so get a bunch of generic ones). Would be perfect if it would have mic level meters, headphone jack for monitoring and more focusing points. But that would make it identical to the 80D, so get that one if you are more serious about your hobby. This is my 80D backup camera.

This was my first DSLR, I have had much luck with my previous point and shoots, but never realized how easy making nice pictures could be with the right tool. I still reach for my point and shoot every now and then, but now get frustrated with being unable to use the view finder..how quickly we adapt. Well worth the price. Lighter than I expected, unless I have my zoom lens on it. Glad I finally made the leap.

Outstanding. This Camera has the most friendly user interface I have ever seen. It has guided settings, so you dont have to remembers the ISO and shutter speed, ect for every shot. It was packaged well, and it came with one battery and one wall charger. Th flip screen is really awesome, perfect for setting up group shots and getting low angles.

It is my first time buying a DSLR camera and Im glad I finally decided to go with the 200D. Im new to the photography world and so far I can say Ive been able to take some decent pictures with it! This camera is definately a good one to start with photography. Im planning to buy some lenses for it in a few months and see how it goes ;).
