Ive just upgraded to the 800D after using 600Ds for years (Ive had the Rebel, the Kiss and the un-named version). It definitely has a lot of improvements, such as the touch screen and superior focal qualities (also significantly less chromatic aberration), but I just thought Id point out a couple of the issues Ive had which did not exist with the 600D. First, although I confess I brought mine from Hong Kong, I was not able to make the flash work. After a year I accidentally discovered that there is some Creative Auto setting called something like "operate without flash" that had been programmed as a default factory setting. This was after months of trying to have it returned/exchanged because I literally only brought it because my last cameras flash stopped working. So all that stress (and 12 months without a flash) aside, the next thing I noticed was that suddenly when I opened a folder to view my photos, there were no thumbnails (meaning I cant see what the photo is of). The only way I knew around this was to open the photos in Lightroom and note the file name number sequence to organise them. While I realise Canon provide their own program (similar to Lightroom) to do this, it still doesnt provide the convenience of being able to just view and organise your photos without running a second program. Solutions Ive found online are at best to shoot with RAW + L (essentially taking an extra photo each time so you can see the thumbnail). Canon could really improve this camera by changing the RAW format so that it can be opened with default photo viewer programs (like the 600D).
