Upgrade to my 60D that I bought mainly because it would support use of the Canon GPS unit. The improvements over the 60D also include wi-fi, useful for off-loading images onto my iPad at the end of the day, but most remarkable is the auto-focus speed when using the electronic display, rather than the optical viewfinder. Instead of a super-long pause during which time whatever you wanted to shoot has disappeared forever, the camera goes off as quickly as it would if you were using the optical viewfinder. Theres a lot of science behind that, but, in essence, they can focus using information from the electronic target, rather than having to move the mirror into place, set the focus, and move the mirror out of the way again. It makes their flippy electronic viewfinder even more useful than before. Now, if Canon would only continue moving that feature up the camera line, they could sell me more and more expensive cameras: Ive walked away with so many great shots because of being able to hold the camera over my head or down near the ground without getting mud all over me. It doesnt make sense anymore, particularly now that the focus problems are behind them, for them not to add this feature to every camera expected to be used off a tripod. BTW, if youre a Rebel user, this is a no-brainer the next time you want to upgrade: Its interface is very close, several problems with the Rebel do not exist on this camera, and both the quality of automation as well as the ease of manual control are wonderfully upgraded. Plus, all the lenses fit.

This was one of the best cameras I ever used. However after almost a year and half of using it, the PCB board went out. I thought I would get a little bit longer use of the camera, but as I did further research, found that it is a fault in canon itself. HOWEVER that is NOT the sellers fault. Just be warned, it may happen to you with your 70D! My camera froze up while taking a picture and wouldnt turn off unless I took the battery out. Now its completely dead- other than when I use a sigma lens and turn the camera on, you can hear the lens trying to focus but it continues to do so even when the camera gets turned off. You guys might as well buy the Canon Rebel T6i, T7i, or 80D to avoid spending $400+ on a pcb replacement thats more than likely going to go out again.

I love this camera so much. I cant tell you how much research I did on finding the right DSLR for my filming. This camera takes such amazing quality video and there is NO annoying sound when youre zooming or adjusting. I like the flash assist and all the other awesome features included. The touch screen is amazing, but it doesnt get smudgy easily. I dont think theres anything bad about this camera for me. I use it for my film classes and personal home videos. I love the wi-fi options, as well. Id love if it had two SD card slots, but thats not a big deal for me. The body is pretty lightweight and sturdy, but dont get too adventurous with it. Sound quality is awesome, and there is an input for a mic. My favorite part is the fully articulated screen, which I use a lot for youtube videos and vlogs. Overall, this is a great camera for beginners or students, and if you just need awesome quality video (and photos).

Ive upgraded from a t1i, so I am VERY happy with this camera. Its a great camera, but enough people have brought up its strong points, so here are some things I am disappointed with that I havent seen in the reviews. In Camera HDR will only work if youre shooting in JPEG! And it wont save the individual shots, only the final blended image. I never planned on using the In Camera HDR image as a final image to begin with, but I thought it would be awesome to take HDR photos, then see a little preview of the result before going back home to edit. But it is still a neat little feature. Ill just have to take more steps while shooting to utilize it. Switch to JPEG, shoot the In Camera HDR, enjoy the preview, then go back to RAW and shoot for the real HDR photo. I hope they have a firmware upgrade that allows HDR to be shot in RAW, and for the individual exposures to be saved as well. The same is true for multiple exposures. It wont save the individual images; only the final result. Thats what you would get from film, but digital shouldnt be held to that same limitation. At least this one can be saved in RAW format. Those were two features I was really looking forward to having fun with, but I guess Ill stick to the old ways of taking them individually and throwing them into Photoshop. Its not a deal breaker by any means. And their creative filters suck compared to my girlfriends Nikons creative filters.. Again, these are not features I was going to take seriously, but I like to have fun with my photos until I get home to get serious (well, I like to have fun in Photoshop there too). I do LOVE having the ability to process RAW images to JPEG in camera! It saves on space not to have to shoot all images in RAW+JPEG to get my cameras settings to stick to the images (since Adobe strips those (customized) color profile settings away when editing the RAW files (even their "camera standard" , etc., is not how my camera standard, etc., is set up in camera)). Oh, one MAJOR flaw with this camera is that there isnt a sensor by the view finder to turn the screen off when looking through it! The work around to this is to half press the shutter to get it turned off. Or keep the screen off and only turned on when Quick Menu is pressed, but I like having it stay on so I can constantly easily access it. And to be clear, that awesome AF feature only works when Live View is turned on, not when youre looking through the view finder. Through the view finder is just as its always been. Aside from those minor issues, this is an amazing camera. Very well under low light, so much less noise at higher ISOs than my old t1i. Great tonal range, and beautiful color range. I love the little leveler in the viewfinder. Being able to access my images from the cameras wifi onto my phone is awesome (though its just a JPEG format, and my phone can handle RAW (at least, thats what some of these apps have claimed that I havent tested out yet)). Still, better quality than what my phone produces ;p. Love that it has a mic input, a lacking feature in my t1i that made it useless, though not impossible, for serious video work. Oh, and there is a night mode that takes multiple shots and aligns them together additively to reduce motion blur from one long shutter realease! Havent tested this one out yet, hope it saves in RAW! If not, at least reading about that feature taught me a new technique for night shots that I can achieve in Photoshop.

I have a love hate relationship with this camera. Ive been shooting with it for about 5 months now and it has the ability to take amazing photographs. Previously I had been shooting with a lower end Rebel that my brother gave me, and I upgraded to this because the Rebel was limiting me creatively and technically. Specifically, I wanted more auto focus points to allow me to compose the images in ways which the Rebels 9 point focus system wouldnt allow. I mainly use a 50mm 1.8 II, the 70-200 2.8 L , and a 100mm Macro 2.8 L IS. Sometimes the 85mm 1.8 USM. The biggest downfall of this camera, in my experience, is that it has a severe consistency issue with its auto focus. I take photos which, based upon the lighting conditions and the settings, should produce sharp photos. Sometimes they are absolutely tack sharp and amazing. And the other half of the time it is (usually) front focusing. If it was consistent one way or another I could make micro adjustments, but since it is so inconsistent, if I micro adjust it will just have the same problem on the other half of the photos. It happens wide open and even on higher apertures, and It makes me very frustrated!! It ends up wasting my time due to the volume of photos I have to take and sort through to pick out the usable images. If I were able to go back in time I would have just spent the extra money and went for the 5D Mark III, which is what I wish I had right now. I love the layout, the build and build quality, and all the functionality of the 70 D except for this auto focus consistency issue. It make me miss the perfect facial expressions that flicker just once and are just enough out of focus when I pull it up in lightroom to render the photo useless. I end up having to take many more photos than I normally would just so I can be sure I have some in focus for my clients. At first I chalked it up to my inexperience as a semi-pro photographer, but Im confident now, as others have had this same issue, that it is a problem with the system, not me. Perhaps its only some of the camera bodies and I was one of the unlucky ones, but its very frustrating. I will attach some photos that show my love of this camera though, because when it nails it, it really nails it! It can produce some amazing, simply stunning photos. (most of these were taken with my 50mm 1.8 II STM)

The full-time continuous autofocus on this camera (in video mode) is absolutely brilliant. Compared to other cameras like the Nikon D7100 its not even a fair comparison. Its more fair to compare the 70D with higher-end pro HD camcorders, because the face/object tracking is so good it blows all the other DSLRs out of the water... even other Canons. Ive only had this camera for a few weeks, but I have found myself shooting much more video than taking still photos. With my previous camera (a Nikon D7000) I rarely ever shot video, because it didnt autofocus. Even the newer Nikons autofocus, but you can see them hunt back and forth for focus point during shots. The Canon 70D is smooth and stays on subject 98% of the time. The STM lenses arent perfect, I have the 18-135 that came with the camera and the 10-18 STM lens as well. They dont have very wide maximum apertures, so they arent great in low light. But the 70D isnt bad at high ISOs so even shooting at night, theres not that much noise... not enough to make the footage unusable anyway. And theyre almost completely silent, unlike my Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS, which you can hear clearly even with a hotshoe-mounted microphone instead of the on-camera audio. The focus is fast and dead on. I also love the flip-out LCD viewfinder. Its great for vlogging, which is why I bought the camera. This is really *THE* DSLR if you want to shoot video on a non-professional budget.

The camera arrived quickly and the packaging was great. Everything arrived in good working order and not boxes with foots through them. The camera itself is heavy and has a great solid feel to it. I am in no way a camera expert and purchased this camera for the family photo. After spending an afternoon learning the camera it is so much more than I imagine I could ever need. I am sure someone that’s a camera expert can speak towards the pros/ cons with more efficiency than I am able to, but that said this is the best camera that I have ever touched. I am completely amazed by the cameras ability and certainly understand the attraction that many have to the 70d. This is a fantastic product, and I would without hesitation recommend this product for the user that just wants great photos to the professional.

Just upgraded my 8 year old EOS Rebel with the 70D and the results are amazing. Granted, technology has greatly improved, but once you learn how to use the features, Ive gotten some great results. The most commonly changed functions are easily accessible from the touch screen.

The Canon 70D was bought used, but “Like new “ condition. I got a new camera basically, you can not tell it has been used. It only had 208 pictures taken (shutter count), according to a software bought on Apple Store. I have been using a Canon Rebel, , so I am going to spend some time reading different books and watch some YouTube to really understand this new camera. The seller had the shutter count at 801, still this is an outstanding camera purchase for the price I got it!! Happy customer!!! Want to share these attached photos to this posting. Taken these photos with the Canon 70D and a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Standard Lens and other Canon Lenses, which I just purchased to experiment. Awesome pictures! Please take into consideration that I am new in photography, something I have been wanting to do for a long time. Thank you D-UNIVERSE for selling me such a great camera at this price !!!

Absolutely LOVE this beauty! I use this one for making videos on my YouTube channel along with a wide angle lens and a Rode shotgun mic and the quality of my videos has instantly gotten better, courtesy its awesome auto focus feature. I had used a Panasonic HC-770 camcorder for about 3 years before taking the DLSR route and Im kicking myself for not having done it earlier. If you are a video content creator, then this is probably on the better values of money in terms of the ROI. There are a few other decent cameras from Sony, Nikon and Panasonic that are available for a cheaper price, but Id take the 70D over those any day.
