I love the Canon 60D for a combination of video and photography work. I am current film student, so I use the camera a lot for video projects, but have also been delving a lot more into the study of photography. This camera is great for both. I have used the T2i, 60D, 7D, and 5DMKII, along with NIkon D7000 and D90 for video and on my budget, this camera fits my needs the best. I love the LP-E6 battery capacity, along with the articulated screen and ergonomics for video work. The build quality is also quite good, much better than the Rebel series, though I prefer the build of the 7D or older Canon 50D. Overall, you cant go wrong with this camera. The 18-200 lens is also great for walk-around video and photography use, though having a few fast primes always helps your image.

Have enjoyed the IS30 Powershot, but wanted something more versatile, especially rapid-fire shot capability (have pets and grandkids...try getting them to hold still!). The 18-200mm lens works fine. I bought an 18-55 afterward, but realized that the 18-200 covers the 55 as well. But I find the shorter and LIGHTER lens very appropriate if I am not concerned about a longer zoom. Also got a f/1.4 50mm low-light lens, which allows for great indoor shots. Manual takes quite a bit of repeat reading, but Ive been able to learn a lot about the camera. Also noted that it was the top-rated DSLR by consumer reports.

I have this camera for more than 2 months now and I used it in quite a few photo sessions of friends and family, indoors and out. I got this Canon 60D camera and 18-200mm lens for $1280. This is the best deal you can get for a DSLR camera now if you want a sturdy, high quality body and dont want to pay too much. The important parameters for me in a camera, besides picture quality were professional grade shutter that can handle faster frame rates and is mechanically stronger and a pentaprism. Pentaprism is a lot more clear and illuminated and has larger magnification than pentamiror. The cheapest Nikon camera that is weather sealed and has professional grade shutter with 1/8000 sec and pentaprism is the Nikon D700 and the body alone costs more than $1200. Not to mention that a Nikon 18-200 lens costs ~$800. This means that a slightly better Nikon kit will cost more than $2000. This is not worth the difference. This camera with this lens produces amazing pictures with great detail. the RAW quality is superb. If you are shooting RAW and into doing some post processing with Canon DPP software or with Lightroom 4 (like I do), you will get amazing results with this kit. The small disadvantages of the lens (like vingeting, CA and distortion) are easily fixed with RAW with both software options I mentioned and you can improve the picture immensely. The lens is sharp except for wide open at 18mm. at 24mm it becomes very sharp and portrait shots at 40-50mm are also sharp and excellent and have a very pleasant bokeh. The camera itself and the functionality is way better than Nikon, obviously beating the cheaper D5100 and even better than the D7000 in my opinion. The Quick menu is very comfortable and the buttons and display are well placed. The only fault of this camera is in Video: First, to shoot video, you need to rotate the top dial to video mode and it is a long turn from Av/Tv modes. Second, the focusing in live view changes the lighting on the screen. I dont mind pressing half shutter or the AF button during video to focus and not having full time auto focus but the fact that it changes the lighting and records it in the video is bothersome. To avoid it I am using Manual focus in video: this also disables the focusing motor sound which is an advantage once you get used to it. Also, once getting used to it, using MF in video is quite nice and can enable some artistic shots. All together, this camera with this 18-200 lens (or even with the 18-135mm) is a great deal and a camera I will be using for many years without the need or want to replace.

As someone who has now had the opportunity to use all three of Canons mid-range lineup (the T2i, 60D, and 7D), I have to say that I really like the feel of the 60D. Even though it no longer has the magnesium alloy body, it feels solid. In no way does it feel cheap. I have fairly small hands and the 60D feels like it was made for me. Its significantly lighter than the 7D and feels like it would be much more friendly on long hikes. The 7D feels much more robust; however, the 60D feels much more "comfy". It is definitely bigger in size than the T2i, but the angles and design of the camera have a nicely updated feel to them that makes it seem like you are getting a much more substantial camera. The articulating screen was also done very well. My initial worries that the screen would feel cheap and break easily were immediately relieved after using it. The hinges are very solid and feel almost stiff to the point where you are comfortable with it staying right where you want it. It also is very flush with the rest of the body and offers little space in between.

This is my first shift into an SLR. Ive owned other Canons for years, so it was no surprise that I liked it, but I still have been thrilled with this camera. It was a little hard to get used to the heft and Im still trying to find a way of carrying it, and the macro lens I bought, when hiking -- front packs are too long and I cant see my footing, etc. So on the bulk side Im still adjusting. But, in terms of just gorgeous pics, its been terrific. The only barrier for me with this camera is my own learning curve.

Ive been a lifelong Canon consumer and while not a pro photographer , I have enough experience after owning this camera for 6 months to know that there is enough built in capability with the 60d to put the burden of good photos squarely on the user. Sure, there are some deficiencies with the equipment to require workarounds, but its superb enough to make the photographers creative abilities the limiting factor, not the camera. Thats all you need you need to know before buying. For a reasonable price, you get enough cam and lens to do it all and more if you add a canon flash, and perhaps a specialty lens if you have a particular need. Other than that its a great package and I love to shoot with it. If you are used to the canon user interface, its very intuitive and in conjunction with some decent post processing software ( aperture for me), I can pretty much do it all. I highly recommend this package for photographers who love to shoot but dont do it for a living. I travel extensively, and love to have this as my main camera, and paired with a canon s95 pocket cam, Im always ready to capture the world visually. Hope this helps others like me that love to bring the world home with them. I also cant praise the s95 enough as a pocket cam, so look at that too.

Wishing to be a serious amateur photographer, and wishing to enter the world of digital photo, I spent three months researching practically every day to decide what equipment to buy. The market has great options, which makes the choice very difficult. Finally I chose the Canon 60D and I can say it was worth it!! It is an amazing camera that I recommend to all those keen amateurs like me, and even professionals. Bought with the 18-200 mm lens which is another wonderful thing, it is a kind of an All-in-1 in lenses. For all these reasons I strongly recommend buying this product !!!!!

I have owned a variety of Nikon DSLR cameras, but none of them would come close to my new Canon 60D camera. I love the lens. The capability of shooting photos at low light is amazing! Close-up shots are the best! I dont want to go through reviews as many others have already covered in their posts. It is just another good review on this particular camera. Buy it while you can! You wont regret it!

After a long search and reading many reviews I purchased this camera for a few reasons I will mention further down inthe review. My first camera was a Canon AE-1 i bought back in 79 and loved that camera growing up in high school and beyond. I recently have also purchased a couple Panasonic cameras as I think they have made great strides in the camera arena. I also have an FZ200 and a G5 which produce incredible IQ. I actually think its on par with this 60D but i wanted a camera with a top of the line senser to get good IQ at high ISOs and this one is it. My G5 also does well but the Canon performs and feel s like a pro DSLR and it is. he IQ is incredible, lots of manual controls and the manual for this thing is great with lots of easy to follow instructions on how to work the camera. It also focuses very fast for action shots and i find the top window info screen very helpful for changing some settings in a snap. The thing is built like a tank. I got a great deal on Amazon for a Used like new for $770 with the 18-135 lens which is also fantastic so i couldnt refuse. The main things I have to have in a camera (which this one had) are: - Great IQ - Articulating LCD - Viewfinder (hate taking photos looking at a screen.) A lot of cameras out there dont have an articulating LCD for whatever reason, well i know a lot of manufacturers like to keep the size of the camera down so they fix the screen to the back of the camera with no movement. I find that having this option opens up more possible photos from differnet angles and creativity. It really closed down my options and made it easy to select a camera. I probably would have had the Nikon D7000 if the LCD moved off tha back of the camera. I see a lot of reviews on YouTube making fun or having many people dismiss the LCD but I dont quite understand why. If you dont like it turn it around and keep it open on the back then its just like a fixed screen. It is also nice to close down the screen and face it towards the camera when closing to protect the screen. I wouldnt be able to use a fixed LCD when taking pictures of the moon or anything high in the sky at night using a tripod. Or.. if your in a crowded area and need to move the camera up or around someone to get a pic, or.. if you decide to take pics of the rich and famous you can put the camera at all sorts of angles and get that money shot of Brad Pitt tounguing Angelina and sell it for the price you paid for all your cameras.. :-) Anyway a great camera and I am enjoying Canon once again! *** Update January 15 ** Stll loving this camera and taking many shots with it. I have bought some lenses for it and have been using them for mostly action shots. I didnt get the L series lens becauee they are a bit too expensive for my budget but I did get the Canon ones which get great reviews for a mid grade type of lens. One lens everyone should have is the nifty 50 f1.8. I took some portrait shots with a softbox setup and holy cow the quality was amazing. The crispness and color rendition at f1.8 is flawless. I zoomed in all the way and had minimal noise if any at ISO 100. I mean if i had a cavity in my tooth i could see details on it, thankfully I dont :-) Action shots at the local park of birds and ducks was excellent also. Very happy, auto focus is resposive and spot on most of the time outside of user focus errors. :-)
