Let me start out saying I love this camera. The only reason I marked 2 areas with only 3 stars is because I had to base it on the lens that came with the camera, the kit lens. It isnt the greatest, but its sufficient to work with while learning the 1,000 and 1 things this camera can do. (I have now purchased 2 other lens, a zoom and a macro and the pictures with them are simply great!) There are complaints out there that the camera is plastic. Piffle! Its solid as a rock. Anything they can do to minimize weight is fine with me. I have arthritis in my hands and the heavier the camera, the harder it is. I like the camera weight. The lens, of course, are heavier, so the lighter camera works good. When I first started taking pictures, I was disappointed. But, it also takes knowing how to combine the shutter speed, the f-stop and the ISO to get a quality picture. This isnt a camera you take out of the box and it works first time. If you want that, get yourself a Canon Powershot SX30 IS, which is what I had before. I love that camera still (versatile, lightweight and wonderful for quick shots). Super zoom, which I really liked. Rather than print out the manual for the 60D, which I can never understand anyway, I spent the extra money and bought the Dummies book for this camera. I took it on vacation, read and studied it and when I got home and the camera was sitting on the kitchen table waiting for me, I was already well versed in a lot of things. I still refer to it whenever I hear or read something I dont understand. Its a fantastic book and well worth the money. I had to buy a sturdier tripod and a larger camera bag to go along with the camera, too. But, its money well spent. I would like to be able to take pictures without the tripod and Im working hard to build up strength. Its clumsy to carry the tripod around, but I take a lot of shots where it works great and Im pleased to have it. I am surprised at the length of the battery life. I keep checking to see if its about to run out and it just seems to last a lot longer than I thought it would. I use the live view function a lot and thats supposed to shorten battery life, but I havent noticed it. I havent mentioned video because that is something that doesnt interest me. At the moment Im chronicaling the life span of three black swallowtail caterpillars on the fennel in the front yard. When I took the first pictures 2 days ago, they were 3/8 of an inch long. Yesterday they were half an inch. Im getting great pictures of those exceedingly tiny creatures with my macro lens. Ive taken great bird pictures, blue jay, woodpecker, cardinals and squirrels getting into the feeder(!) and of course my flowers. Ive joined our local camera club and I read lots of photography I would definitely recommend this camera.

After many years of doing as much as I could with my point and shoot I finally decided to take the DSLR plunge. I am happy I did. Firstly, I bought canon as I have owned other canon products and have been happy with them. My brother has a Canon 7D, which also influence my decision on brand. After reading extensively on all the types of Canon DSLRs I decided on this one. It was a toss up between this and some of the high end digital rebels. Ill let you find online reviews for figure out the difference between the cameras. Great solid construction. Kit lens 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD. Glad I didnt go with the 18-55. Ive really enjoyed having the extra zoom. If I had it to do over again I might even give consideration to the kit with an 18-200mm lens. I bought a 50mm f1.4 prime lens separately. I knew I would want it for some low light and portiat photography Ive been wanting to do. Anyway. Ive really enjoyed the camera. Been doing some timelapse/long exposure/star trails/trick photography after reading the many online tutorials and it has been a blast. I wish there was a built in intervalometer. Hopefully canon is working on this and I bet in a year or two it will be standard in even mid-range DSLRs. Didnt really know this would be a function I would use as I didnt know I was going to be enjoying timelapse photography. If timelapse really interests you that might be something you would want in a camera. However, I found a really good/cheap intervalometer on an un-named auction site and I have no limitations in that department. I guess there is a software intervalometer on the canon disc that comes with the camera; if you want to do that you just have to tether it to your laptop/desktop.

This is our second SLR Camera from Canon and EOS 60D is an excellent camera which is a perfect fit for anyone who is looking for a decent DSLR which can be used for taking professional looking photos and Hi-Def Videos. I did some extensive research before buying this model from Canon and I am thankful for the reviewers on Amazon who helped me making my decision. The Amazon community is one of most helpful group of people which differentiates Amazon from any other online retailers. - Thank you again. There is already a ton of reviews on this product here on Amazon and I do not want to repeat myself with the features and functionality of the product. All I can say is "This camera takes beautiful photos PERIOD". This camera was a gift for my wife on her Birthday and she is now a happy camper! Happy Dance! Cheers!

You put this camera in your hand and you know you are holding a quality product. Takes great pictures and is capable of most adjustments if you know what to adjust. We prefer the auto mode which takes care of the hassle but many settings are available if desired. Especially like the large LCD panel that can be rotated if desired. To get maximum benefit out of this camera I recommend reading the manual from front to cover. This can be a simple point and shot camera but if you want to achieve the maximum potential you definately need to become familiar with all aspects of its capability. This is not a small camera but fills the hand when holding it and it does have a solid but not heavy feel. Also the menus are very easy to read and understand. Very user friendly. Very impressed so far. The wife and I are not professional camera buffs but just like to take good pictures without too much trouble. This camera has been just the ticket for us. Have owned many Canon products and have yet to be disappointed.

I am still learning how to use this cameras many capabilities, but after a month of fairly intensive use I love it. I recently switched to Canon after a lifetime of using Olympus products. Ive never wanted the size and bulk of the top-end professional models but I need a sturdy, reliable camera and superb metering under a wide range of conditions. This camera is outstanding. Ive shot in a wide range of conditions (back-lit, sunsets, dark, daylight, indoors) and the metering is flawless. The operation is very smooth. Considering the very wide range of the zoom (18-135mm, the equivalent of about 28-200mm in a "normal" SLR), the optical quality is very good. Other outstanding features of the camera: large and very clear rotating viewing screen, very clear viewfinder, good flash. If you need real SLR capability, this is an excellent choice.

After missing some great pictures thanks to my capable point and shoot, which is great for snaps, but cant go the extra mile, I decided it was time to sacrifice pocket portability for a camera that has all the capability that I need. Although I had a film SLR years ago (a Canon AE-1 Program), this is my first foray into the world of DSLR, and I am a rank amateur for sure. There are cheaper cameras than the 60D, but I live on the theory that it is cheaper to spend a few extra dollars up front getting what you may need for the future than to save a couple of hundred dollars only to spend much more by buying the upgrade device later because the cheaper one falls short. Without stepping up to the full professional cameras (BIG $$), I decided that the Canon 60D was the best option. It certainly has exceeded my expectations. To use the old musicians saying, "Practice! Practice! Practice!". This is a great camera for point and shoot snapshots and you can pretty much use it right out of the box to do those. But to really take advantage of the cameras comprehensive features, you need to set up and experiment and practice. Thankfully, with digital photography, you can shoot as many pictures as you want and get almost instantaneous feedback regarding what you are doing right or wrong. You should spend a lot of time in manual mode, or Aperture or Shutter Priority mode and take LOTS of pictures of all sorts of subjects. When I first bought the camera, I did not see that the articulating LCD panel would be of much use. WRONG!! I purchased a tripod to use and the first time you set the camera up about 18 inches off the floor to shoot a low horizontal shot, you will be a fan of the articulating LCD. The panel also has amazing resolution and can be zoomed during reviews of pictures so that you can get a good feel for the focus of your shot and whatever noise may be present as you push the limits of aperture, shutter speed, etc. I dont regret this purchase at all, except that as I see what it can do, my interest in photography is being further piqued, so now my wish list for more paraphernalia (remote flash, lenses, filters, etc.) is growing, which means spending more money.

Wonderful pictures and a good piece of equipment. You can use it in a fully automated mode and it will feel like a high-end point and shoot and pretty much takes care of everything for you or if you want to get your creative juices flowing then there are many options available to experiment with. I got a 32GB memory card (from SanDisk) and there is a ton of space to shoot for many weeks if not months. Video could have been better - at times for some unknown reason the subject goes out of focus with no warning. Maybe this is something Im doing wrong. I also found the power switch a little flimsy and was worried I might break it by frequently turning it on and off so I just keep the camera on all the time and it turns of automatically (you can set the sleep time) on inactivity. Overall a great camera and a very good buy.

This is my first extended experience with a digital DSLR. Learning the menu and button system has been fairly easy and intuitive. In addition to the kit lens, Im using a couple of old lenses from a 35mm film camera so that has added a bit to the learning curve. If one wishes to use this camera in the fully auto mode, the result will be excellent images. If, however, you like to experiment in the manual mode the images will be equally excellent but youll have more fun. The kit lens has limited low light capabilities but that should be obvious by the f stop rating. In normal day light it is very good in most situations. The only fault I have found so far is the awkward placement of the movie start/stop button. It would be easier for me to use if located closer to the shutter button. That, however, is a pretty minor complaint to and otherwise fine camera. All in all it is an excellent value and will exceed the capabilities for all but the most advanced amateur or professional.

It’s a great product and with excellent quality. I received it very quickly. I bought this product to replace the current product I’m using in the same category and I must say that it definitely does the job better than I ever would’ve thought. Packaging, materials are all top notch and above my exceptions. I found this product by accident and decided to give it a shot and I couldn’t be happier. It’s lightweight and durable. I don’t believe I will be switching products anytime soon. If you’re contemplating on buying this product I’d definitely give it a shot, I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Camera is really good. I am not a professional, so I dont see myself upgrading the camera for another 10 years (ofcourse its an exaggeration, but its really good :) ). Images are really good, High iso images are far better than my previous XSI. I see 3200 very much acceptable. ISO 6400 is grainy like film in lowlight, but it is also usable unless you are planning to blow it up. Havent tested video exhaustively. But the ones i have done till now is reasonably good too ! Lens is really a regular walkaround lens. Get a few good lenses if you really like to see value of the money you spent on this camera. I cant buy a canon 70-200mm f2.8, so I also bought the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 since I am on a budget. My wish list for the Lenses with this camera. - Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 - Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS USM - Tamron 28-75 F2.8 - Canon EF 50mm F1.4
