Im a professional event photographer who was long overdue for an upgrade from my 5DM2. Having skipped the 5DM3, this camera is a substantial upgrade for me in every way. The biggest improvement for my photography has been auto focus, ability to shoot at higher ISOs, and dynamic range. My 5DM2 is my backup and I now hate using it due to the poor LCD and lack of touch screen really bother me now. I should also mention that I rented this camera and shot a wedding with it before buying it. With so many places to rent pro gear, its crazy to buy any photo gear before actually using it in the real world. In case you cant tell, I am very pleased with this camera.

I had this in my cart for a while before I pulled the trigger. I dont know what I was waiting for. BUY BUY BUY! I am a photographer on the side and have shot MANY sessions with this and the images, compared to my 6D are incredible! My subjects look so realistic and almost 3D, like they are going to jump right out of the picture!

So far I love this camera. I have been using it for about a month now and taken it out for a few intensive shoots. It has not let me down. The focusing is much improved over the MK III which was my main motivation for getting this. It does have a few features that I have not and probably will never use like the Wifi but I didnt buy it for that. I didnt buy it for video so I cannot evaluate that but I think that if you are going to shoot video, get a video camera like their C 100 and shoot video. It does suck the life out of batteries much quicker than the MK III or MK II so I would suggest getting the battery grip and some spares.

I upgraded from my 7D Mark II (and will likely get the Mark III when it comes out next year) and love it! The 5D IV seems to be hidden in the shadows of the D850 and Sonys a7rIII but is still a good camera with a good form factor, excellent image quality, and a GREAT lens selection -especially from the likes of Tamron and Sigma.

Ive been shooting Canon professionally for close to 20 years and I have never encountered focusing issues like this. We currently have two Canon MK 3s a 1DX MK II and now a MK 4. We had major front-focus issues (by a meter) with the first body, even after lens calibration. We ended up sending it to Canon for calibration. This did not solve the issue, so we returned it and bought a replacement. The second body also ran into focusing issues. Cannon Pro Services diagnosed it as an issue with the auto focus assembly and replaced the part. Honestly, when you throw 20 or 30k into production costs of a shoot, you really need your gear to perform. And when 2 out of 2 Canon MK IVs are proven defective, I have a hard time trusting it. This camera will sit in a pelican case as a back-up. Ill stick with my 1DX for my work camera.

I have a MKIII and a 6D are showing signs of age. With over a million clicks between them, it was time for an upgrade. I had planned to hold out for a decent mirrorless offering, but that seems far away, and I’d probably want to wait for another generation while Canon works out the kinks in their existing lineup, so the 3 year old MKIV was an ideal choice. The camera has, thus far, lived up to expectations. It is a huge jump in resolution and dynamic range from the mkiii. The focus points are far more sensitive and reliable, the touch screen is as responsive as an iPhone, and live view subject tracking is outstanding. Is this camera as good as the cheaper Sony offering(s) in terms of dynamic range and features? Definitely not. But I’m pretty sure it could withstand a tumble or two, and I can’t say the same for its competitors. My MKIII is cracked in two places and has been for two years. My 6D has rolled down a cliff a few times, and it was my go-to for landscapes and low-light until I received my MKIV. I’m finding that images shot at ISO as high as 12,800 are clean enough to post online, and images at 6400 are equivalent to those shot at 1600 on the mkiii and 3200 on the 6D. I must also mention the ergonomics of this camera. Canon achieved ergonomic perfection with the 5D and an additional customizable nub on the back brings additional functionality that feels perfectly intuitive and natural. Is its tech on par with its peers? Not at all. But this camera is the most versatile and reliable option for the price. Nota Bene: Beware offers with free accessories and/or priced below $2500. These are gray market, and do not come with warranty or service from Canon. Spend a bit more and avoid trouble in the future.

The Canon 5D Mk IV is just a photo monster! It takes sharp images and its super fast. Its helped me shoot in low light situations for when Im hired for events/clubs. I take it out in the elements when the buddies and I go traveling to take photos of landscapes and nature! The 5D is just spectacular!!

I absolutely love this camera. I enjoy shooting landscapes and astrophotography and have been wanting a full frame camera for awhile. I rented this camera for a week before I decided to buy it and fell in love with it. I also have the 7D and the system is very similar.

upgraded from t6i, after a long and disappointing wait for the 6D Mark ii. A huge upgrade, but also over a year of renting gear and trading glass; I finally pulled the trigger and dont regret one bit of it.

Much needed upgrade for me. Pictures are crisp and have high dynamic range. Very less higher ISO noise which helps in night and low light conditions. Very fast and continuous focusing .. helped me to take pictures of my little one she kept moving and pictures came sharp. Loved the quick focus changing joystick type button. Loved the two AWB settings one typical canon warmth other one with more white biased. Havent tried dual pixel RAW yet.
